Update: June 4th 2024 - the next day after fledging, Koa tries to return to the nest a few times but is unsuccessful an gets chased off. But at 18:58 tonight Koa returns to the nest after Thunder delivered a fish and we see Treasure eating and Koa watching waiting to make its move! At 19:09 Koa makes a steal from Treasure and claims the fish & eats! While still eating, Akecheta flies in with a second fish (20:06) and Koa claims that one too while still holding onto the first fish! WTG Koa! After eating Koa flew to the nearby rock below the nest and is roosting there tonight while Thunder & Akecheta are on the night perch. Sweet dreams Koa Treasure Sterling Mom and Dad!! A lot of wing slapping going on !!! As l was watching the video l kept thinking karma is a, well you know lol, and Koa snagging fish for dinner on the natal nest just pretty much was the karma lol !!! I loved how Koa seemed so curious while sitting on the old nest. It would have been nice for Mom or Dad to have gone after a fish so Koa could watch to learn but all in due time. Happy to see Koa isn’t alone on the roost branch. 🦅🦅🦅💕💕💕

Koa was certainly getting quite cozy in the old nest! 😄 Treasure ... being the next eldest ... thought Koa coming home was an intruder, and protected the nest. Good instinct. Staying tuned to see what happens next and who will be the next one to fledge.

Koa visibly had fun while flapping and playing with that stick in its talons. 💕💕 My heart rejoiced along with Koa, especially when he/she laid down beautifully in the historic nest. Koa is adorable! I love watching eaglets fledge...it just never gets old! This is a strong and excited fledgling..that is a joy to watch! Is this surrounded by water or is their flat land somewhere? Thank you for the beautiful photos. It always amazes me how the camera's can capture the family of eagles. All different angles and heights. Trees or mountains or where ever they decide to put their nest. Lady Hawk you are so educated on so many different kinds of birds. And at so many different places, with different weather. I aways learn a lot from you, reading everything you write. You educate us on so many different birds. You are greatly appreciated. You cover so much territory. I feel like you fly like the albatross bird. Going around the world seeing all your bird friends in their beautiful homes. Gliding peacefully through God's beauty.❤

Hi Cathy yes - Koa is gripping a small stick with his talons! This is young eagle behavior to grab sticks and nesting material to take to a nest! Very cool to see that - you have good eyes!
Hello Roger - yes Koa has had quite a bit to eat! Yesterday when he came back to the nest he stole the fish Treasure was eating. While Koa was still eating that -Akecheta came in with a fish and Koa grabbed that fish while still holding on to fish #1. Koa ate well. Today Koa got a delivery from Thunder and had a big crop afterwards!!
