Follow my journey along the West Highland Way. This 96-mile hike is considered one of Scotland's finest. Traversing the shores of Loch Lomond and into the wilds of Rannoch Moore, to end some ten days later in Fort William. Discover my journey as I dig deeper and explore more, from historical sites to the natural forces that created Scotland's most iconic long-distance walk.
But in this episode, I pass through Murdoch Country Park to the shores of Loch Lomond.
NOTE: Cicerone Press has given us a 20% discount when ordering the West Highland Way Guidebook. Go to their website and use the code NEWEARTH - I didn't receive anything from them but hope it helps...

Outstanding video of the fabulous West Highland Way. I did it in 2019 and am looking forward to doing it again. This is the best video I’ve seen of the walk. Dare I say, it’s even better than my own! Well done!

I love the pace. This is the way to enjoy the WHW (imho). And thank you for not including the obligatory blaring background music.

Thanks for watching the film and your comments is really appreciated. I spent a considerable amount of time playing the soundtrack and music including subtle sound effects of wind and water audio plays such an important part of a film my Great Glen Way Film will be out before Christmas. Hope you can subscribe and catch that one too.

The advantage of doing in November is that the midges are not out, as you say. Also, no camping restrictions. Wild camping is permitted along the parts of the route which in Summer have bans due to inconsiderate 'wild campers' who caused damage and left litter. I have done the walk once, also in November. Cold, not good footwear so had sore heals. Blister on top of blister. Great to do it, but once only for me. I have mountain biked sections of it though, from Tyndrum northwards mainly.

Really enjoyed this video and really looking forward to the next one. I'm trekking the WHW in June for charity with a group of colleagues and I'm training for it at the moment so really enjoyed watching your video to see what to actually expect. Thanks for sharing, as I said I'm excited for the 2nd video.

@@KevinAugelloNewEarthFilms I'll share the video with my trek group too. Its a "touristy" trek in that we've got a trek company helping us but I'm sure this video will help them with their training and motivate them. Excited to see your version of the devil's staircase!! Thanks again! 😊

thanks for the video, its plain to see how much effort youve invested in creating these videos - kudos! i felt your pain when you saw the bridge was still out and you had to go uphill to cross. i’m hoping to do whw at end april early may, so hopefully some dry weather might ease the way. just thinking about the actioncams fogging up….was it maybe condensation, were you in a cafe beforehand or did you have the camera in a warm pocket. as you say, these things are waterproof so i am guessing it might have been cold air coming into touch with hot surface, and the condensation would form regardless of waterproofing.
@KevinAugelloNewEarthFilms
@KevinAugelloNewEarthFilms 2 года назад
Thanks for your comment Martin - It was my own fault really because I was using ND filters from PolarPro So I could control the shutter speed of the Osmo Action. But this allowed condensation to enter the device - So lessons learnt for next time! Glad you like the film lots more to come on my channel as I move away from broadcast content and focus purely on my own adventures !

@@KevinAugelloNewEarthFilms ahhh, nightmare. yea, i wouldnt have thought of that at all. btw, I notice you were carrying the nikon with you, i’m guessing for some of the more special, locked off shots. Did you find yourself using it enough to warrant the weight. I’m swithering about taking my proper camera with me. Looking forward to part 3 (and the tips one as well).
