West Kilbride railway station is located on the electrified branch line that has its terminus at Largs in North Ayrshire. The line has one other station at Fairlie and effectively begins at Ardrossan South Beach.
When I lived there (1941-'64) there was a footbridge to another platform on the opposite side and both tracks were used by passenger trains running between Largs and Glasgow St Enoch station - steam, of course.
