Western Coal and Coke Company No. 1 Steam Locomotive (1950s-1960s)
This rare amateur footage features Western Coal and Coke Company No. 1 steam locomotive, a preserved Canadian 4-6-0 "ten-wheeler" built in 1913. Originally built to help construct the Canadian National Transcontinental Railway, No. 1 was retired from revenue service in 1964 and purchased by the Mid-Continent Railway Museum. The museum used No. 1 to pull tourist trains until 1992, when it was retired from service. As of 2023, No. 1 is undergoing restoration to operating condition.
Transferred from 50 feet of Super 8 film, this video offers a glimpse of this historic locomotive in action during the 1970s
