Hi friends, in the comments number of PPL have asked why Puducherry is on west coast. The reason is Puducherry is made of four districts one of them is mahe, the mahe is located on west coast.
We kerala people living around mahe, go there to fill petrol and cone back. Bcoz, petrol rates are far less there, no state imposed tax . ( mahe is a UT)
@@bobyjohn7710French rule in India was in many small pockets... 1... Main pondicherry 160 down to Chennai on the east cost of India . 2... Karaikal is on the east cost about 140 km down to pondicherry main. 3... Yanam about 800 hundred km upto main pondicherry in the state of Andhra Pradesh...on the east cost. 4... Mahe on the smallest part of UT pondicherry is far on the cost of kerela .All there four part of Pondicherry are single UT of Pondicherry... 5... Chandan Nagar on the Bank of Ganges ( Hugli ) was also part of pondicherry and french administration during fresh rule accepted to merge with west Bengal ..
Awesome video. Being from Palakkad , the Palakkad gap formation is very interesting to know. The part of Western ghat which got separated out and formed the gap is still in Madagascar. The flaura and Fauna found there is very same to that in Western ghats.
Hi Guys thanks for watching the video, For past few weeks I have been making videos on Indian rivers and mountains and there are many places and names which I have come across first time. I really want to apologize if I have messed up pronunciation of some places. Please consider them outcome of my lack of awareness. I wish you all very best of luck in your preparation.
The himalyan rivers were fully developed around 20 lakh years ago, some Peninsular rivers are much older. But dear first human walked in Africa around 2 lakh years ago so both himalyan n Peninsular rivers were fully developed when humans walked the earth
might have, would have, yeah South India gave everything to the world and civilization too....thats why we dont find any trace of older one..not even close to mesopotamia and harappa.......living in the false sense of pride and questioning the facts gives lot of info about you
Wow… so much more learned about western ghats. Every other videos explains western ghats but this video explains how it happened right from beginning starting from Madagascar
Thanks for appreciation. Regarding pronunciation of names I had already apologized in advance in one of my post. And I would humbly disagree with your remark that it takes little effort for correct pronunciation. There hundreds of names of not thousands in this whole map series and most of these names I have only read and never heard in people's conversation. Moreover, unlike English words there are no reliable source for pronunciation of these names and remember them and accurately pronounce while creating audio track is while another level of challenge. Moreover many places are pronounced differently in English and local language like Pune or Anand or roorkee. That is why I focused on keeping the spellings accurate as it will help the viewer correlate and understand the place.
Let me try to put an counter argument 1. 2 million PPL died due to partition, that would not have happed 2. 4 wars were fought between India n pak, that would not have happened. 3. So much fund is spent on security because of dual boundary threat, we could have used that money for PPL 4. There would have been little opposition to India's claim for permanent seat in unsc 5. India could have easy access to middle Asia and west Asia, there could have been much better trade integration and India could be leader of south n Central Asia. 6. Most problems in Pakistan is due to there thinking of Indian threat, so Pakistan would not be dominated by army. 7. If United India would have never interfered in Afghanistan, hence no Taliban would have formed. Terrorism would not have germinated in central Asia. 8. Pipelines from Iran and Russia would have been reality making fuel cheaper n providing boost to economy. 9. There wouldn't have been a Kashmir issue or Kashmir insurgency. No displacement of kashmiri pandits And many more
Ab batao! If a chunk of land separates, moves and bashes on another land so hard that the great Himalayan range Forms....The concept of "original inhabitants" sounds JOKE!
Dear historicaly first human civilization is not more than 12k years old, Himalayas were formed 66million years ago, so if u are studying anthropology or evolution original inhabitants has great meaning. However politically it is divisive
@@zetaupsc right. When a land moves even by an inch it may take centuries but has great weathering impact. Its is not easy to co exist , establish a society with continuously changing weather. The "known" oldest civilization may be around 10-12 k yrs ago. But the 100% proven civilization is not more than 6500 years ago. So the human civilization of this land were immigrants by the land from the north, North East ,North west. The marine immigrants were there but at later time.Right now The whole world is fighting because of the so called "original inhabitants".I believe the word itself is wrong it should be "the first immigrants" . Especially when we talk about India. The theory of Moolnivasi is very shallow in the context of India's history...
@@sanb2023 the humans have developed from Africa, so technically everyone is migrant 😊😊 I do not contest that. In anthropology, I do not remember well but it describes which region has which human race and how they came and settled. Aryans are believed to have come from central Asia/Europe. So immigration has happened without doubt. But the world is not fighting for first migrant but for state. Before 18th century there were only nations and no concept of states. Nations identity existed even though they werenin different kingdoms. It was unification of Germany and Italy that gave rise to the concept of state. Now all nations want state. Nations which are in minority they fight for a seperate state. Remember the two nation theory which created three states. The demand of dravidaland or khalistan all are basically a nation demanding a seperate state.
Excellent content. Minor nitpick -- please ensure you talk to local people to improve your pronunciation. It is a bit distracting and might be disrespectful to some.
i wanted to make this video more of a concept related thing than giving raw data, i agree that peak heights are also useful, that is why in later videos i have included peak heights.
Great video. Height of Anaimudi peak could have been mentioned since this is the highest peak in Western Ghats. Sengottai gap connect Kollam (not Kottayam) in Kerala with Madhurai in TN.
In the scrolling letters below the video, no where you have spelled correctly. First time it was Western Cart & then it was fully Western Guards. Can't you correct this as "Western Ghats".....
Informative, but the narrator should learn the right pronunciation of names related to South India. It is very poor. Kudure mukha, Nagara hole, Kerala, Palakkad and many more
Kindly provide a reference for your suggested pronunciation as it is completely different from what we were taught. So unless there is a good enough reference it will difficult for me to use them
Western ghats are creating South Western season Rain mansoon at the same time Kerala is the only State is affecting by that heavy rain instead Karnataka Maharastra are having strong Ricks so land slides are not spreading there . At the same time Kerala is mostly worst affecting due to soil formed ghats, poor type of infrastructure No wall in bank of rivers in the people living areas and houses are built in the banks only instead away and high place of banks. and Tamil Nadu is getting low level of heavy rain by which avoiding land slide. So Kerala Govt inefficiency only ultimatum which should be removed among them.
Good video. But Hindi speakers please learn to pronounce names and words of the southern languages. Example it is पालकाड् not पल्लाकड, नागर्होले not नागर्होल्, आनमलै not अन्नामलै, आनमुडी or आनेमुडी not अन्नामुडी। Please check all your pronunciations.
Somali plate will hit in western ghats region however I am not aware of plate speeds but there is a good chance that the Indian plate might have subducted before such collision
One question still remains un answered. Western strip of land ( west of GHATS STRTCHING FROM KANYAKUMARI TO GUJARATH) HAS DIFFERENT TYPES OF SOIL. RIGHT FROM THE BEACHES OF SAY Trivandrum...ALLEPPEY.. KOZIKODU etc one can see RED SAND.. BROWN SAND..BLACK MIXED SAND.. WHITE SAND FOR A WIDTH OF SAY 20 TO 50 KILOMETER ENTIRE NORTH SOUTH STRETCH. IF WHOLE BLOCK WAS DRIFTED THEN HOW COME DIFFERENT TYPES OF SAND? WHEN ELEVATION GOES UP while approaching the mid level the soil turns red ( iron oxide) Compare KUDREMUKH SOIL AND MANGALORE SOIL.( Just one example)
The Palghat Gap in India and the Ranotsara Gap in Madagascar are similar geological shear zones that formed around the same time when India and Madagascar split apart due to volcanic activity.
I think I said sengottai pass connects madhurai and Kottayam, because my reference also said so but latter comments suggest that kollam is closure to the pass and also bigger than Kottayam. So it should b pass connects kollam and madhurai.
@@iyer0505 as per wikipedia "Palakkad Gap or Palghat Gap". Mam prnunciation of names is very much dependent on the native language we speak, i agree you may be right about kozikode, but that is how i was taught
Yes u are right these are the two immediate points in either sides of pass but madurai and Kottayam are two imp cites connected via these hence there name is used. Consider it this way that thal Ghar actually connects kasara and nashik but we always say that it connects Mumbai and nashik
Kollam is one of the oldest and biggest cities in Kerala since ancient times. Kollam city is designed and build by Mar sapir iso. Ancient travelers ibin battuta and Marco polo mentioned Kollam sea port as the Finest in Keralam
And Kollam city is known as Prince of Arabian sea. Kottayam town is no where near to shenkotai than Kollam. Kollam is the biggest and nearest city to shenkotai gap
pronunciation of names very bad, before creating such videos it's better to do some home work. It's sounds umpleasant to hear, 'anaamalaaaaaaai" palaaaaaaakkaad' 'agasthyaar malaaaaai'
Thank you for the wonderful 3D and explanation. In schools may students dislike Geography subject because it was not explained properly. Even now I think your explanation is more beneficial for the college students than school students. Because some how I feel the school subjects are only to gain marks hence on memory power. But I liked it very much. In fact I was in search of this.
Thanks alot dear, the aim of this channel is to simplify proces of education. Yes this video is targeted towards upsc aspirants but if this channel works out good then I will start channel for school subjects
@@bharathbhatt6963 as i am not aware of right pronunciation i may find it difficult to identify because as per my education and knowledge the pronunciations are right , could you please collate a list and please share with me what you think is right pronunciation, could you please also verify it with all four major south indian language speakers that they agree on the pronunciation. your help is truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Nice content. Thanks for presenting. I just have 1 question - I have noticed some of the hills in Western Ghats, particularly in the Chikmagalur area, have sedimentary rock formations even close to the peak. This must be around 1500 to 1800m above sea level. Any explanation for this? Thanks in advance..
Thanks for the appreceation. Regarding western ghats in chikmanglur i am not specifically aware of that regions geoglogy, but most mountains are formed due to folding generally by collision of plates. due to this the sedimentary rocks in sea bed or lower regions gets uplifted and metamorphosed. Hence it is very common to find sedimentary rocks on mountain tops. Even mt everest on its peaks have sedimentary rocks and many fossils are found in these rocks.
The Southern Western Ghats Actually ends next to our Village in KK district at 'Nanguneri'..which Is also famous for a Vaishnavite temple..The Harishchandra Ghats comes on way to Shirdi..You Prounounce 'Paalghat' as 'Palghat' (not correct) and also 'Palani" as "Palaani" (also Incorrect) Pl.Dont Mind..🤤 Thanks for the excellent Research, and Nice Video!
Yeah I agree pronunciation is a issue but please understand it's not intended but ignorance as we in our surroundings do not hear those names but only read in books
@@conqueror7311 no for both, whole of Himalayas was formed by collision if you watch the three video series on Himalayas u will know the formation and why western Himalayas is different from eastern Himalayas. We have a video on formation of vindhya and another on satpura it will give u clear understanding Reunion islands formed only Deccan traps we have another video on formation of Deccan traps. Deccan plateau is much bigger than decann traps
@@adv.ajaiabraham4089 exactly n same is true for many north indian places which are pronounced wrong by non locals like Pune, Anand, Roorkee, Almora, vadodara and many more. Most of us Indians speak English in a way that is much different than British or American English. But we still speak. Point being when non natives are going to name a place they are going to b inaccurate. The inaccuracies does not mean anyone is trying to humiliate other, we speak English in a different accent not for humiliating. English but because of our local language influences.
You left out One of the Most Important Perennial River Thamraparani Originate in Western Ghat of Agasthyamalai ...and end in Bay of Bengal near Tuticorin...
Everything is blander because.your method moves only upper part of land, these land never flot on sea.what about under neath area?? Under the sea each one connected it means a single land.if india moves bit forward what about under water parts???
Dear this is a simulation to help understand the topic and not a 100% accurate simulation following all physical laws. Further if you want to see what happens under sea then they are covered in seperate videos like sea floor spreading theory and plate tectonics were we discuss about plates and there u can see what happens under sea
Video is very detail and topics are covered in detail. But u could try to pronounce tamil and malayalam names corrrectly.I understand u might find it difficult since u r from a hindi landscape, But try it in the next time and its kerala and not kerela
As a long-term resident of coimbatore and the passion for nature drove me to explore Nilgiris, Kodai and Valparai hills After listening to your explanation, I gathered the cause for less river flows from Kodai and Valparai hills which appear as the eastern extensions of the Western ghats Thanks for the lesson, regards
Srilanka has great biodiversity and it is a continuation of western ghats hot spot. i will try in future to make a video on that. The channel is mainly based on syllabus of an exam held in india, so the focus mainly remains on indian geography. They do include world geography but that is less detailed than indian geography, hence the focsu is on indian geography. Thanks for watching the video.
I like the content but was not able to sit through the whole video due to the atorcious pronunciation of the various ghats espeically in TN. While I am not a language fanatic but surely it is not too much to expect an Indian to pronounce Indian names better.
Thanks dear, request u to bear with my pronunciation, it's basically ignorance of pronunciation because I have never heard people speak those names but only read it in books.
@@zetaupsc make it more all time period Cambrian, pre Cambrian, misozoic and all ..and all type of rock which is exist in India with sequence and thier formation with time period You can make full lecture 2 3 hours I'll take it
Have never seen such a detailed explanation of plate seperation between Madagascar and indian plate. And also about active hotspot , the formation of laccadive islands.. Etc.etc. Thanks for your effort.
First time I learned a lot more about the Western Ghats. The flow of rivers in the opposite directions in the north and the south are strange and need a better explanation.
Great you liked it. The rivers in penisnular region flow in east because the slope of peninsular plateau is in west, the western ghats are younger and taller while eastern ghats are older and erroded. in north the aravalli forms a water divide, dividing into ganga river system which flows in east, and indus system which flows in west.
Dear, the length of india is 3200 KM while tallest peak is 8 KM, it is impossible to vissualize on normal scale, every thing has to be vertically exaggerated, The mountains are thus everything is exaggerated in vertical axis to give meaningful visualization
I am a geography teacher retired. This video would have been useful to explain the drifting theory. Those days only black board was teaching aid .no computer .
Thanks mam, i have made separate video on drift theory and sea floor spreading and this animation was originally used in explaining drift theory. Mam in your days people when opened books they could study not reels and shorts are major distractions, computer for study 1%, computer for entertainment 90% :)
where is karma dear, i am not able to locate it, i will try to include it in future video, however, to many rivers named kali so i dont think UPSC might ask about it unless something specail
