The dancers here are from Parama (Parem). Parama and Daru are part of the Torres Strait Islands geographically speaking. And the Meriam speaking Eastern Islanders have stronger New Guinean ties culturally and linguistically with the Oriomo, Kunini, Masingara and Kiwai people than they do with Western Torres Strait Islanders who are more Australian Aboriginal influenced.
@@melanin4499 Norinori the giant ancestral snake from Cape York that flew to Argan, Badu. To cut a long story short, the snake fought two eagles who sliced the serpent into three pieces, took its body parts near PNG and scattered it in the ocean. Those body parts then became Boigu, Duan and Saibai.
@@melanin4499 Yes languages can share words from multiple cultures like English with French, Dutch, Germany, Latin. Same with Kala Lagaw Ya and its neighbors. Most of it shared with New Guinea, some of it Malayo-Polynesian, but the grammar and personal pronouns (ngay, ngalpa, ngitha, thana, palay) totally Aboriginal. Even sounds like the Dh in dhoeri and dhangal (placing the tongue between the upper front gum and teeth) is common in Australia but not PNG/Meriam.
I'm a PNG blood.💯 This action dance they doing here is our own.(Mer) There's a story behind this dance. Never copied from there or anyone. It was created on Mer which tells a story of the 8 tribes of Mer and the Torres Strait Islands..🕊️ in history badra is your dance (a chant and bop) and still is. Not bendown dance or Kabkar. When families cross over the border from the coastal areas of PNG to Mer. They didn't know how to Island dance or Kabkar. They learnt at Mer. They only dance their own dance which is Badra (a chant) they never knew how to Torres Strait dance (bendown dance or Kabkar.)😔.. This action dance here they doing is our dance moves. Is there a meaning in that.? Can someone explain it.?.👍 Thank you.🙏🕊️
Yyyyyweeeessssss!!!!!! I second that.... Before youpla Ancestors were shipped in Ours was & is the True Meriams.... Mer Blo PNG, go back to school start from Raka & Ranu .. When NOR sabeh NOR TALK .. That's Y youpla still Mark time one spot.... ❤❤❤❤❤
No Western man will ever copy something from Torres Strait. Many believed that ancestors from Torres Strait migrated from PNG down and not Australia up. I encourage you Torres Strait Islanders to pay a visit to our Western province. You will be surprised. We don't copy, you guys are just an extended part of us.
Torres Strait Islanders crying in the comment section talking about we stole their culture😭😭🤣Don’t be sook!! Y’all ain’t the only ones with culture!! 😂
The borders do not define the peoples or culture. Remembers folks what we know as Torres Strait Islands and PNG Islands was determined by an arbitrary line separated by the 'WHITE' colonial powers. Keep that in mind !!! Amazing showcase of Western provinces dance and culture.
Yagurr/Yakin Wakey Wakey Peeps blo Torres Strait...Dari/Dhoeri from there just like the Warups. Goes back toTime Immemorial. No style up, look PNG Parliament algeda One Toks including the PM... Youpla still mark time one spot but ga plenty to say... I can talk because MY lineage from TS & PNG and I have done my research😘 Well done Western Province...Luv It 🔥😍🥰🌴🐊🐢🌺
Why are Torres Strait islanders mad? Is there something im missing? Torres Strait island culture and the islands of Western province are almost the same! Let me know if there is a certain thing I am missing.
I'm disgusted by some of you TS Islanders thinking y'all know shit bout my country PNG. Who tf told you we copied yous? We have 800 plus different languages and cultures, beliefs, stories, dances etc. These are our people from the Western province of PNG. Y'all look nothing like our Aboriginal brothers and sisters in Australia and this begs the question, where did y'all came from? These are PNG original, truth is y'all came from us and moved down. Your ancestors migrated from us, PNGeans aren't nomadics, we fight, conquer, own and defend the land. What does that tell you? Are yous different from the Western people? Noooo. Dances varies from village to village so indirectly, yous are just an extention of the Western people of PNG. If y'all think y'all came from elsewhere, be my guest 😂😂. Stop all these nonsense, we are one people, we are Melanesians, ain't no one copying here.
@nagin34 no not even close. So tell me expert, what is that name of the dance and what is it about? Our songs tell stories and have Ginar (Rules) in them, they must be performed properly. These guys look stupid. The end
Agreed bro!! If they claiming Daru stole the dance, why TSI stole our KUNDU drums than? Huh explain and we'll see?!Kundu drum is the most signifying instrument used right across PNG amongst our 800+ different cultures. Stop denying your existence as melanesian geez!!
Hi there, this is not stealing as you claimed or imitating, these are actual the descendants of Toresstrait people that migrated and resided on the western part of Papua New Guinea which we now call it Western Province. They are still practice that culture which has been passed down from their fore fathers.
What is the meaning of the dance? Looks to me their all over the place. The way they throw their legs 🤦🏽♀️, looks silly 😂....please explain the meaning ?
@@damarndamarn5118 hahahahah Why don't U stop assuming their dance doesn't have a Meaning 😜 Ofcourse their dance would be similar to Torres strait cause Western province and Torre strait are literally near each other 🥶🥶🥶 😂 U got more time for ignorance but less time educating Urself 😜
Torres Strait dancers breaching cultural protocol by stealing Arnhem Land Aboriginal dances TSI dance ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P-bwYhjoHFM.html Arnhem Land dance ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nU2C4hFSXmE.html
Protocols who has it! Can you please Explain the story of the Dances and there Protocols? Remember we are one people. We can't see our self different or same we are One. Thanks.x
#Gunya farmer get real Torres Strait culture don't need abo culture please, most underrated culture in Australia that's why not even China can steal our culture but u see Chinese make more boomerangs than abos
Where do you TI people think you migrated from, obviously the Western Province of PAPUA NEW GUINEA... therefore you share the same Culture... ain’t nobody stealing anyone’s culture here...
No it's not, these are actual the descendants of Toresstrait people that migrated and resided on the western part of Papua New Guinea which we now call it Western Province. They are still practice that culture which has been passed down from their fore fathers. Dumb brain
That is so not right 😳🤔 that is culturally rude making a mockery of the Eastern islands (TorresStrait) culture! thats just wrong 😱😱😱 would really love to find out the story behind this dance! Because i have never ever come across dancing like this! 😱😱😱
Hi there, this not mockery as you claimed or imitating, these are actual the descendants of Toresstrait people that migrated and resided on the western part of Papua New Guinea which we now call it Western Province.
Be very mindful when imitating someones culture and tradition coz its when not performed the right way disappoints the viewers and those who actually own the sacral dances from Murray Island maybe you stop completely performing such dances from torres strait again..??
From what I’ve read, this isn’t a imitation of the Kabkar, it’s their own dance which is similar because they are a related people . Makes sense since this region of PNG is very close to the Torres Strait
You PNG people are definitely copying culture dances, from Torres strait Islanders & New Zealand 😂 just stop please & stop embarrassing yourself!! & Stick to bardara!! 💯 IDGAF if we blood related back, we made our own unique culture in the Straits! 👏🏽 (No hate to my bloods) 🇵🇬
The drum was traded through out the TSI each island choreographed their own dances and put their own words according to their languages to songs creating different dance stories that have been passed down through song and dance through countless generations.some dances and songs àre unique to a certain island and can never be copied (example) kabkar Murry island. It is not danced sung on the other islands because the dance and song belongs to Murry islands.each island don't copy each other songs and dances throughout the TSI😊
