Niel Burger was a one-man wrecking crew. Deceptively fast for his stockiness. Watching the Michael du Plessis try near the start I was reminded by how much needle there was in these fixtures. Lots of bad blood. Knee to the face AFTER the try was scored! Did I imagine it or did Moaner van Heerden score his try going over with an elbow to the defender's face. (might also have been Niel Burger on the receiving end of that)? Watch how he gets up afterwards looking like he can see stars! Yellow and red cards would have been flying if it was nowadays.
I started watching rugby in 2007, I have a question. Was rugby better back in the 80 & 90s? It doesn’t seem like over managed games. Maybe I’m getting old and I realize these are highlights but it seems like great tough rugby with some real skills out there.
