Western Wednesday: W88 Fixed Blade Skinner 

Thanks so much for showing that one! It brings back such fond memories. I had an early 80s 88 I used for over 20 years! When I retired from deer hunting I gave it to my nephew who is an avid hunter and he still uses it today.

Great choice Jerry and heck yeah, the 88 is my favorite camp fixed blade, I use others but always go back to the "extra strong" 88. It is their strongest knife other than the 46-8 Hunter/Fighter or the 49 Bowie which are usually a bit too big to wield around anywhere but the backcoutry. It's versatility reveals itself as you use it, count on it, cool knife.

From the internet so it must be true... "Guard stamped model numbers started in 1967 to 1968, depending on the model. The W49 Bowie has known purchases in November 1967 with a guard stamp. Guard stamping of the model #s continued until 1972. "
