The federal government ordered binding arbitration in the labour dispute between WestJet and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) on Thursday, in order to help avert a Canada Day walkout by mechanics that could wreak havoc on hundreds of thousands of travel plans. #shorts

I remember when Trudeau said he believed in the bargaining table and collective agreements. These measures are a criminal act. The workers who build the success of the company could use this time to prove their value. It is mind blowing that it’s about the shareholders and not about the individuals who keep the company successful.

When engineers concerns are ignored aircrafts start breaking. You do not want have a pilot on the plane who is exhausted .

@@pabloandrew38 Lack of competition at its best in Canada. Look at Europe airfares, much, much lower compared to Canada, but they have competition. BTW, you know nothing about my career so please stop personal attacks.

@@idunnoanymore2870 Irrelevant, for what it is. Why are the airlines, banks and telecoms are shielded from competition in Canada.? Flights within Canada are more expensive than flights between Canada and Europe. This says it all.

What’s the sense of having a union or the ability to strike when you can’t exercise these rights! This is all purely political!!!! But this will just incense the union and the workers all the more when heading to the polling stations next November!
