Let's look at the different animal skin/hides and where each can be found in the game and their uses. First the bench(leather dryer) that makes canteens and leathers, the armor workbench that makes clothing with these leathers, and the storage(cloth) for hides and leathers. Then a trip to each and every area on the map where these skins/hides can be found and best places to gather them. Perfect hides can be bought with silver coins from Jilly Caster at the Trader House in the south. Leathers can be traded for in Silverton with the trader Strong Hand, and at Native American tribe with Anakvad(leather, fur, thick leather) for bear claws. These materials are used for upgrades, repairing clothes, completing quests, and other things as well.
