I'm from the US and we didn't get league broadcasted over here until around 2010. As such, I appreciate watching these older videos to see the development of the game over the decades.
We destroyed our historical clubs all for self preservation, when this took place supporters of the self preservation expect the rest of us who lost our foundation teams to just except their clubs.
Just the whole vibe of this takes me back to an era when life just seemed so much simpler . These guys actually had jobs & played 1st grade football on the weekend .

PS: Didn't stop Manly buying Boyd, brown and Dorahy less by the time 1981 season started. Any comment on that head high???????
He had 3 more games at Manly after this . He played 2nd row in round 16 and was on the bench for the round 20 & 21 clashes before he went back to QLD . Apparently Higgs had a lot of injuries in his final year at Manly in 1978.
Every Rottweiler and Bull terrier in my home town (Warrington) was called BOYD. He’s still talked about like he was still playing for us. Arise Sir Les!
