Only 1/3 of settlers used the Homestead Act. While an important piece of legislation, settlers would have come without it. Paying for the land via a preemption claim was used far more often.

1st of all the map doesn't show the Mississippi as the boundary of the west, it's the Missouri river. With that misinformation I question the rest of the video.

Damn 2 years already, yeah I passed history failed some other subjects but one advice I’d give you is that GCSEs don’t mean anything unless u need it for the path u wanna go down and it’s okay if u don’t know what u want to be while in college, I still fully don’t. I dropped out bcz it wasn’t for me I just don’t like the idea of it either I’ve got other plans just live life and enjoy every moment.
