NickTheQuick 224 Same! omg Volcano Bay does look awesome and I can't wait for it to open, but I'm so sad thay demolished they're first waterpark! :( that place was so much fun
Been going to Volcano Bay and have there at least 25 times already. Got a 3-Park annual pass with no black out dates and free parking. I do miss the old park but also really like the new one, so tropical like and have live Hawaiian and Pacific Island dancers to spice things up.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 The disco h20 shot where it’s just standing in midair is sad. It was my favorite water slide I wish they would rebuild it somewhere else
I wish they did too, what I heard when I was there months before it closed is they were going to move Disco H20 and couple others Brainwash and Storm to Volcano Bay. Not the case as of it after seeing them taking it all down for scrap.
I went in December 2008 with my family when I was 10 and we went back in July 2016 when I was 17 but without my mam who sadly passed away and to see this now, I cant even describe it, it just hurts. This park gave me some of the fondest moments of my entire life and memories that will last a life time Its almost like something from a movie, but I just still picture me and my sister standing waiting in line for brain wash, or me and my mam queueing up for the flyer, or when me and my dad were walking past the small huts to get to the lazy river and we seen Kevin Hart. It breaks my heart, its like echoes from the past, whispers of an easier time, and I will miss it so goddamn much.
I been to it dozens of times since I live in Florida 40 miles west. Best time when my family came down in June of 2008 to the park and going on most of the rides. My niece who was 8 at the time loved it and went back again two days later. They came back down in 2016 but didn't go to the park despite telling them it was closing in late December. We instead went to Universal Studios, Disney World, Adventure Park and one day in Cocoa Beach.
This is sooo sad I got to experience this park twice and it was my favorite especially Disco h20 and the blast though Volcano Bay is looking pretty awesome only 9 days left!!! R. I. P Wet n Wild and welcome Volcano Bay
Thanks so much for posting this was a massive part of my child hood I live in Canada and every Christmas I would drive down to Florida and go to wet wild every time I’m only 12 now and just watching this video made completely tear up and I could remember two years ago we where about to ride the bubba tub which was the last that ride was even there and a worker had told us that in two years the park would be closing I completely lost it I was so sad so even now to see it all gone makes me extremely sad and pissed off at Universal for shutting this down and this was my dads child hood to the same as me he would go down every Christmas and go there and my last memory I have is me and my dad going down the blast for the last ride we would be going on and it was also the last day the park was open and we just shut eyes held our hands and went down the final shoot and I will never forget that moment. So anyone that’s made it to the end of my story thanks so much for reading it I just thought I would share this because of how sad I was to see it go so R.I.P Wet’N Wild Orlando 1977-2016. I will always remember you Love Josh Davis Friday October 27th 2017❤️💔❤️
I visited Florida in July/August 91 and this was one of my favourite days of that holiday when I visited this park. This makes me feel sad with nostalgia overflowing at the same time. I can see where as a family we all sat at the side of the pool soaking up the sun and the vibes. Days gone forever but I remember them always!
I was just there and saw there is now a new hotel/resort being built. Don't know if Universal sold the land to a hotel franchise or kept the land and building a new hotel resort.
Great update, I was there on the 11th and the main part of Disco was still up, gutted I missed this being taken down. Black Holes next I guess. Sad times ☹️
I know its sad to see it go, but attendance was def down, the park was limited in size and the infrastructure was suffering. I go to Florida every year and each year I saw what seemed to be less and less in attendance here (I'm sure we can find these #s somewhere). Anyways.. lets hope the new park is just great!
Jack ya, I hope Volcano Bay continues Wet 'n Wild's Legacy but it's still sad that Everything's Gone R.I.P Wet 'n Wild Orlando (March 13th 1977-December 31st 2016)
The fact how they treated this place is actual Bullshit. Universal better read this. This place has so much memories behind it and it had so much potential! Yea a couple of things were outdated but you can renovate those! To be honest the hotels they put here are so much worse. Do they really need more hotels, really??
What pitty! Iam sady! Era muito legal esse parque ! Dava para ir a pe , quando ficavamos hospedados ali perto!!! Por que fizeram isso...Era muito alegre! E gostoso!!!
So many good memory's, i'll always remember keeping my legs up in the lazy river for dear life, as the bottom was so rough it scrubbed the skin off your feet, lol. Good times.
Any updates since this? I saw a photo and it looked like work had stopped as part of the black hole is still there now which seems like slow progress of they are still working on demo.
Strange they haven't started removing the concrete yet with a separate team with different equipment. Also noticed all the pump equipment hasn't been removed just the walls removed from the rooms it's in so they can be accessed, maybe it will be sold or the connections to the water from those pumps isn't disconnected.
I think the black hole will be down this week so all the slides are gone in time for volcano bay opening as they don't want people to see the remains of that. It also looks like work is starting on the remaining buildings with the pool and any concrete on the ground being removed starting to be removed later next week.
It saw pics of it when it first open there was nothing around but trees and the small lake behind it and International Drive. My how much Orlando has grown and expanded.
This was actually my first job ever. When I heard it was closing down it hurt my heart real bad I was like wow this was my first job and now it's going to become a distant memory.
