WetherSPOONS Large Full English Breakfast Has it GONE TO $h*T Since The Cost of Living Crisis? 

The Wetherspoons by us is 50p cheaper for their big breakfast. It serves its purpose. Had it last week and thought it was ok. As you said people have a preconception about the Wetherspoons but for less than £7 for breakfast and unlimited coffee it was fine with us.

I see in todays papers that 32 Wetherspoons are being put for sale dues to heavy losses. We will miss em when they are all gone as other ventures will see that as the green light to put their prices right up

Spoons quality MASSIVELY depends on the skill of each chef producing it. There is a fine line between decent and disgusting in Spoons.

Hi Lee, Large breakfasts vary greatly in price. Paid £5.35 in outer London but £6.10 in centre of Oxford. BTW this increases to £13.10 in an airport spoons. As a mystery diner for wetherspoons I can't say I've noticed a big change in quality. Quantity varies from spoons to spoons though.

Hi Lee! I agree with on which Spoons you go to! They all differ. I’m sure breakfasts used so have a half tomato on it too. That was absent. Shows how long it’s been since I went for a breakfast. Still it all looked okay to me On a separate subject I went to your mums favourite supermarket cafe for breakfast today. Had sausage and cold runny egg on soggy doorstep toast this morning. Food standard very poor indeed. They have dropped dramatically there. Also I was behind a white Taycan this afternoon, Enjoy your trip and take care 😘👍🏻

If you should happen to find yourself backdown down in Cornwall, please consider visiting and reviewing Harbour Fish & Chips in St Ives and Harbour Inn at Porthleven (Roughly Halfway Between Penzance & Falmouth) It is a St Austell Brewery run Pub however the food was absolutely fantastic and the views out towards the Harbour and The Front were simply... Fantastic!

Okay Lee... Lets go through this Wetherspoons so called "Big Breakfast" shall we... Two Standard Catering Sausages... Standard for the Price Paid Two Fried Eggs... Standard One Small Mushroom... Unacceptable for a Big Breakfast Two Small Bacon Rashers... Unacceptable for a Big Breakfast Two Slices of Toast Halved with Lurpak Butter... Standard Three Hash Browns... Standard Baked Beans... Standard Unlimited Coffee Refills... Above Average Missing Items that i think the Wetherspoons Big Breakfast should have on... Fried Bread... Standard Black Pudding... Standard Tomatoes... Standard Bubble & Squeak... Standard These items would probably cost customers extra to make this a genuine "Big Breakfast"... Personally i would class this as a Standard Breakfast only... And score it a fairly average 6.5/10... It's Unlimited Coffee Refills are it's only saving grace... Cheers Lee. 🍺

The guest beers are around 70p/pint more than the average 'spoons. Probably a premium price as it's at the station.

I like their £10 mixed grill. Can be 50p less or £1 more nearby. Breakfast bearable, butter always runny. Curry Thursday ok though naan / pops vary. Chip quantities vary so do peas or med veg portion sizes.

Thanks Lee, haven’t been to Spoons in years, after watching a few of your posts I thought I’d give it a go, I tried the one in Surrey Docks, then the one in Southend with a large breakfast @ £5.90 , not bad for the money, but spend a little more somewhere else and you get a much better meal.

That breakfast looks okay for the price. Can't see much in the way of steam. Was it a bit on the cool side? I went for a walk on Sunday morning and dropped in to a nearby country house hotel for a latte. £4.75. Consider yours a bargain.

Hi Lee, had a large breakfast at the one in Bury St Edmunds, on the 1st September and it was very nice, that is a good Wetherspoons in my opinion.

They could have done better but the eggs looked perfect 👌 At the end of the day I think it all comes down to who is doing the cooking … great video Lee & can I just say thank you for all your hard work 😊x

Great breakfast for the price which is comparable to US price. The menu prices are similar to US. No complaints.

Wetherspoons vary widely venue to venue. Example: Get beans on toast in Dorchester and you are searching for beans to put on the toast, whereas a few miles down the road in Weymouth there's about twice as many. I'm not a bean counter, but I know where I like to go for my breakfast.

When we had the malarkey of lockdown they were ultra strict about cleanliness....but since lifting of lock-up they've gone downhill with their hygiene and the food is bland!

Fair score. My only reservation is the dirty coffee mug. No matter what you pay, you expect clean utensils and crockery.

New Pudsey station! The memories of getting on and off the train there when I first moved to Leeds. Stopped having Wetherspoons breakfast when the stopped doing full Scottish breakfasts a few years ago in Scotland and can’t eat anything from there now anyway.

Selby Wetherspoons , Cheap Pints are 1.99 so a £1 more expensive, in fact everything more expensive, Selby seems to be one of the cheaper branches of the chain, great video as usual

Couldn't compare the breakfast to my local spoons menu but noticed the Curry club price was £9.99 compared to my local spoons £9.50. Price has gone up over the years I remember these meals were £6.99 a few years back

There's a lot of snobbery around Wetherspoons but, mostly, you know what you're getting - good food and good beer, for a good price.

Very close agreement on score. I'd give it 8.0. Catering sausage but nicely cooked it makes me rage when they're bot cooked through properly. Youree spot on with how variable Spoons can be..but I'd say there are a lot more good ones than poor ones. Great to see you on the trains. Perhaps more of that!

Large breakfasts are sound at our Spoons. The bacon has grill lines on it tastes brill. The sausages are herb and leek which are also spot on.👍£5.85 no brainer

A lot of my friends won’t go to Spoons as has an adverse effect on local pubs. I prefer to support the pubs in my area. I see why people go as the drinks are about half the price.

An adjustment of the scoring system will make things much better. Just a suggestion. I had commented previously on this video…..but maybe like 1 point for cleanliness …..1 point for service…..1 point for pricing…etc

I like Whetherspoons, and yes they can be variable, but they do own some nice building conversions. On a number of occasions I’ve opted for breakfast in a nearby one instead of in the hotel I’m staying in at the time. Haven’t had the large breakfast for years though.

I’d have had to ask for a side plate for the toast. Overall a decent price. Cafe in Dubai generally two eggs your way with toast 40/60 aed £8 to £12 but in uk for a sit in the warm in a station with a hot drink on tap very good 👍🏻

Hi Lee, been to the station and traveled from ST HELENS and had a full English Breakfast and like it. Stayed overnight in a hotel Premier Inn, by Direct Arena. This is going back about 2 months ago and give it 8.5/10.

I went in a Spoon's this morning, Oldham. Tried to order on the app ? No beer, No American breakfast and the app wouldn't take my payment. So I said "come on" to the Mrs, we went across the road to a place called Parliament Square, 2 breakfasts, a beer and a spring water with ice, It was about £21.70 no catering sausage and they had a bend 😄The dog peeing on the lamp post had the kids in stitches. Another good Vlog Macmaster 👍

Gutted they took the tomato off!! Still good value for money though👍👍They are hit and miss as by us in maghull its no where near as clean as the one in Formby,we usually go the extra 5 miles to that one.

The sausages in spoons 4-5 years ago used to be bloody delicious. The Brekky is my go to meal here, but its deffo took a hit in quality.

Hi Lee, I had a breakfast from a Spoons in Edinburgh. It wasn't that great. I went to a Spoons in Glasgow a week later and the breakfast was very good. As you say, it just depends on what Spoons you go to. Saying that the Edinburgh Spoons done a Special half price Fish and Chips and that was amazing. It's just your luck at times. Great video mate.

I ordered lunch in a local wetherspoons close to me recently, as it was slightly too late for the breakfast. Anyway, i had sausages chips & beans, what ive realised is that its the baked beans that they skimp on the most. Also, there could of easily been a few more chips on my plate. I think they carefully judge each portion they serve before it reaches service. Also another thought. It seems to me that the smaller the food portion on the category dish you order the smaller the amount they'll put onto your plate because your spending less. If you look at most main dish orders on their menu, they add a drink to it to bump up your spending. Also, if you ever try and call a wetherspoons by phone, they often don't bother to answer. On the whole, unless your short on cash & really that hungry, your better off elsewhere.

Totally agree, it does depend on which Spoons you visit, my local, the Rawson Spring, is always spot on, nothing has changed over the years with the food, whereas, the one near my work, The Francis Newton, has really gone downhill food wise lately...

Looks great value for what you get with free coffee refills. I've just checked, and my local Weatherspoons in Kent is slightly cheaper with a large breakfast £5.80 and X1 coffee £1.20

I always love the spoons eggs and bacon,could do with more beans and also tinned 🍅s plus mushrooms loads! It's different prices outside stations but not a lot and a also not many places where you get free refills! Also if you ask they give you extra toast if you don't want hash browns!

Right Lee...As you know I have been watching since the start...I have a jewel in the crown for breakfasts...its called cafe Ri-an in Accrington...I have been for hundreds of breakfasts in my hometown of Manchester but nothing comes anywhere near this place...the breakfast is outstanding and the service great...its just a bloke and his daughter who run it...please please try it out...I moved to accrington about a year ago for a bit of the quiet life...you will not regret it mate honestly...

I was going to go for an 8, looked okay and great value, their coffee is always good, can't tell how greasy the hash browns were from looking but the sausages did look a bit poor.

When you coming to Anglesey ? You should try the Blackbull spoons in Bangor! 3 small plates in Bangor today £12.95 in Leeds £14.45!!

During and just after covid tables were cleared and cleaned, but i must admit i find this lack of clearing and cleaning is inherent across all spoons, which is my only complaint about them, we notice it in every branch we have been in so far.

I think your score was a little high considering you couldn't eat 2 of the 7 items served. I also thought they might include some tinned tomatoes. It's also high considering you have a dirty table and a dirty mug. I thought it was going to be in the low 7's. It was a good value but leaves a lot for improvement. By the way, I ordered my "Controversial" T-shirt. Thanks for making it, look forward to getting it. Keep up the great work Lee, really looking forward to the trip east. I've been in that Weatherspoons. Went from Dunfermline to Leeds via the Settle Carlisle line. That breakfast look fine to me. Couldn't see the breakfast price in Dunfermline when I looked but the large all day brunch was £8.10

Hi lee I don’t think that breakfast was cooked fresh I have read that some parts of the breakfast are frozen then microwaved it was in in a news paper a member of staff of spoons spoke out about there cooked breakfasts

Last time I went on a train was back in 1992, are they any better? Never seen a 'Spoons, we don't have them over here in Guernsey, or Maccy D, KFC, Starbucks type chains. We once had a Wimpey for 6 months, but it died a death. We do have a Costa but the coffee is a bit crap, prefer independant cafes. It's pretty cheap for UK prices as it all looked a bit industrial.

You could have used some of the hot water that's used for making tea to clean your cup if you wanted lee

The Widow Frost wetherspoons in Mansfield is one of thirty odd which are up for sale. Can’t remember whether that’s your favourite spoons in Mansfield or not.

I wasn't too far off your score, I thought you'd give it a 7.5 because of the dirty table and the dirty cup. Plus the mushroom (yuk - controversial) and the hash browns. If they did fried bread then it'd be a 8.5 rating :) My wife and I watched it while having our tea. Great video as always :)

Wye bridge house in Buxton. Best spoons ive been to, really nice place.

For the price it looked a great deal. Unlimited coffee hot chocolate or tea for only £1.25 is the real deal.

I just came back from a week in France. 2 days in Paris and 5 days in the Bourgogne. I had 3 course meals for 15 to 18,50€, including free baguette bread and water. A glass of wine between 2 to 4€. But in the supermarkets......extremely expensive. Butter for 250 grams 4,99€ or f.e. a bottle of Jack Daniels for 32€. I buy the same butter in my homeland Germany for 3€ and the same bottle of whiskey for 15€. A breakfast French style for 7€, which means a lot of sweet stuff, like marmalade and chocolate croissants, but no cheese or cold cuts. I love France, but the extreme prices in supermarkets are almost a criminal thing, I believe.

One of the chance factors about 'Spoons is that they just plop their businesses in whatever properties they can buy, so you get all shapes and sizes. We visited one in Cambridge - it's huge. I think it must be an old theatre. And judging from the people we saw in there, a few just live in there. I suspect there are a few still in there who haven't ventured back outside since the pandemic started.

Had the same this weekend in Dunstable, all six of us said the same thing, not what it used to be 🤦

The breakfast looked ok to me though I would only have a smaller one, and a bit disappointing there were no tomatoes on there. I've heard you say the bacon was salty before somewhere, but that's what all bacon is ... salty, if it wasn't salty it would just be pork. Maybe you meant over salty, I don't know. Can't really find much wrong with this apart from the hash browns didn't look great to me. So I will give it a 7/10 because of the lack of tomatoes and the hash browns. I don't usually touch coffee if I'm eating in a pub, but I have tried Wetherspoons coffee and it is nice. Also, table wiping, and table wiping properly seems to be a widespread problem which needs addressing pronto. Enjoyed the video.

I miss going to Leeds. Used to eat there lots. Just realised the pub doesn't have an actual name....just Weatherspoons!! Noticed no tomatoes. Not a full English without tomatoes! Have you tried the Spoons with the best view in Britain? If you're ever in Ramsgate go to Spoons. Upstairs you can sit outside and look at the sea, you're right on the beach. Oh! And please call in at Sheffield on the way and take me with you. 😉

I paid £8.38 for a Large Breakfast yesterday. It was the one inside St. Pancras station though. It was fine, but the sole mushroom was a tiny one. It was almost comical. On and it was Anchor butter.

I recommend a place called the corner house in bedworth Warwickshire on a Friday I think they do stake and fries with a drink or pint for £9 and other days they do different meals for the same price

Most spoons breakfast usually 7-8 / 10 depending how busy they are, main train stations will be busier than others

The beer at WS is about a third of the cost here in OZ , and the tucker about half what it would cost in Oz too , however , the coffee in “ spoons “ is shite if I remember from my last visit to the UK. Gorra be good at those prices though .
