That spot where the boys are jumping into the sea at the harbour is my favourite little fishing spot. I dont know what it was like back then but now its full of lobster pots, razor sharp metal fragments and old rotten wooden posts.
Wow, yeah I expect there was a fair bit of debris in there back then too! From seeing the road flooded, it looks like it was a very high tide so they got away with it
@@Quagmi I still go once a year for light harbour fishing there, with a lower tide you can see the bottom there. Go look if you get chance, its lethal lol Full of gorgeous big Wrasse and tons of other fish tho.
I used to go most weekend as a kid, as my parents used to own and let out a caravan at Weymouth Bay, so we drove over from Southampton to give it a clean for the next holiday makers :)
used to pick up live fish from the quay back then whilst working for the sealife centres..kept hoping i would have seen myself :) thanks for the memories
Have chartered boats out of Weymouth for diving and fishing trips, the harbour looked busy then , last year's visit the Harbour looked fairly empty and quiet....thanks for posting......
Alot of the commercial boats have gone sadly..i used to work for the aquarium at that time collecting live fish from the commercial boats in the harbour (spent most of this video seeing if i could spot mysell or our vehicle). Allowing other countries to fish our waters, along with attractive decommisioning deals led to many boats stopping fishing. It's a shame. Thanks for sharing.
I agree! It's one of the things that I noticed when I found the footage on my Grandad's camcorder. It's around the time that I started driving. Don't see many of those on the road today!
