Hello WF&P! I heard that one can not operate a locomotive until they’re at least 18 but are there any other jobs/volunteer stuff for earlier ages? If so then what’s the earliest age one can volunteer on the railroad?
@PrrProductions5550 There is always room for anyone under 18 to volunteer at the railroad under guardian supervision! At 10, a member may qualify for Brakeman. After becoming a brakeman and turning 12, they can train for a mark up to hostler to fire the locomotives up in the morning and run them in the yard under supervision. From there they can continue involvement until they turn 18, and can become a conductor and then fully qualified engineer for regular operations.
