WFTV Camera view of EF3 Tornado Tearing Through Downtown Nashville on March 3, 2020

This is WFTV's shot of the EF3 tornado tearing through downtown. In its early life, it lacked a condensation funnel, as seen by power flashes, but then grew to EF3 intensity and unfortunately killed 5. This video is dedicated to everyone who lost a prized possession of theirs that day and for the families and friends of any of the deceased.
I DO NOT OWN THIS VIDEO!!!!

I moved to a town 15 miles out of Nashville. I'm from NY, so I'd never experienced a tornado. I've always wanted to. They intrigue me. Or at least I thought so. It was sometime around 2005. An F3 hit about a 1/4 of a mile from my house and it was at night. I have never felt anything so frightening and powerful in my life. I can't even really explain it. It was like the devil. I was powerless. I felt my house pulsing and swelling as if it were going to explode. I was absolutely powerless. My life was in nature's hands. FRIGHTENING!!!!! The next morning, I went out to explore the damage in the neighborhood. Huge oak tress were twisted in half. Not just broken, but actually twisted. Grass was torn from the ground exposing the path of the tornado. Houses were just gone. I never want to see another tornado as long as I live. What an experience. I do want to experience an earthquake though. That would be cool.....LOL!!!!!!! I'll never learn.

Having and still living in tornado alley in NE Oklahoma I have seen my fair share of tornados. In the daytime or nighttime, they still suck. With that said, the people in the top floor of the hotel or office building in the center of the screen, if they saw it coming? You know their butt was puckered. I hope everyone took shelter accordingly. The transformers going up around the city should be indication enough that something was going on. They don’t just blow up by themselves. If they start going off across town and they continue to go off and are getting closer to you… take cover because the storm and whatever is causing that to happen is headed your way.

But the F5 Joplin tornado in 2011 was a mid evening occurrence. In fact, we have severe weather predicted tonight (not enough to spawn a tornado) but the next couple weeks we’ve got some perfect instability for tornadoes to develop. @@AmericanFarmerHVAC2024 there were multiple tornadoes that night. (15 confirmed). The one in the video is a high end EF3 that killed 5 in the Nashville core. There was also a EF4 that struck Putnam county, that killed 19. But that was a Different tornado (same outbreak) than the one shown here.

I've lived with tornados all my life, but I will never get over the terror of the sirens, the wind, and the aftermath. A tornado is an unrelenting and unbiased killer, and that becomes more apparent during the night.

Title is misleading, judging by the quality of the video, it's more likely a 1920 tornado and not one from 2020.

I was within a mile of it on the 4th floor of a hotel after a Preds game. The tornado (idk if it was the same one but it was the same storm) eventually hit EF4 and almost hit my house which is about 2 hours away from Nashville. I was extremely lucky on that day.
