About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,500+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:

How i miss those sermonettes at the end of the broadcast day. Now the only place to get one's religion fix is on Digital TV. Thanks for the memories.

Sorry to hear about Fr. Turcich. He seemed like a good person. I think Video Forum was in Edens Plaza.

The sign off always scared me. It felt like everything was ending and fading to black .it just creep me out. Even hearing the dial tone sound and seeing that rainbow screen was creepy.

Can someone upload WPRI's test card with music instead of tone, and WGBH's longest test card feed with jazz music when the bars are showing. WSBE's test pattern had different music in 2007.

If only more people around the world 34 years later would heed the words of the preacher, especially the advice at 1:13 (worst way to improve the world).

Yes, but sadly that's what the media pushes, the negative news, they even fan the flames. A negative piece of video might be shown thousands of times on TV stations and their internet sites but the positive stories are soon forgotten. And that bit at 1:13 is something those that took part in protests/riots after Trump was elected and after the inauguration should be thinking about. Think of the positive things that number of people could be doing to help neighborhoods and people that really need it. And note the Code of Conduct bit mentioned, the TV stations had to adhere to that. Policing themselves clearly does not work.

Because WGN had gone 24 hours at this point. They only signed on each morning as a formality.
