I noticed that whenever the letter "в" appears before a consonant, it seems to me that it changes its sound from /v/ to /w/, like in the word "тавр" or "палавро," making them sound something like "таур" and "палауро." Is it true, or is it just my impression?
Hello Krzysztof! I would say it depends on the person saying that. Some people might pronounce "в" exactly how you described it. However, I've heard many times people from the south part of Tajikistan pronouncing "б" like "w" when it's in the middle or the end of a word. For instance, "об" (water) like "ow".
