The crank locking tool is threaded, and we don't use a screw driver. But, I'd say you can make it work? Having the proper tool for the job is nice though.
We don't see much of that, if any. We tend to see timing simply set wrong. But, bad oil pressure can effect the timing guide tensioner piston and or a failed tensioner piston/spring? Potentially causing the chain to loosen and jump timing.
I know displacement has more to do with making horsepower than the number of cylinders but I can't stop annoying the 2jz crowd by calling it 2 of these
