Looks a LOT like what we have in Northern CA! Even down to the water temps and conditions and the sea life.

How does a swimmer re-enter the boat from the water? Ladder? Yours is a 370, right, with no insets on the rear of both pontoons as seen on the 400? Enjoy your videos as I’m seriously considering purchasing a Whaley, either a 370 or 400 to pass along my knowledge of the creeks and estuaries to my grandchildren while I’m able. I’m 71 and still very healthy and active but don’t want to do the BIG boat thing again. Your recommendation would be helpful. Thx! Don from Charleston, SC USA

Hi Folks, it’s good to start seeing videos about these boats. I have a whaly 310, currently with a 2006 Yamaha 6hp (monster engine very heavy). I do a lot kayak fishing in Scotland where there is always a swell and 15 mph winds. At the time I bought it March 2020, this boat was the closest to a kayak I could find. Was also looking into polycrafts but at that time they were not exported to UK. I managed to squeeze in 2 trips b4 lockdown and after them, I was hating the boat. I took it out with a mate, I’m 100kg and he’s about the same, with tackle fuel tank etc, the boat was too heavy at the stern, we we’re seating right at the back, and the bow was so high, that the engine was almost under water. I had a lot of water splashing back into the boat and flooding it almost like a tub.2nd thing I don’t like is the transom design, think it should be higher like 210 models. I thought my engine wasn’t powerful enough, should have bought at 10 or 15hp, etc…but since I have trimmed the engine to the 2 highest hole and performance increased, (still not breaking the sound barrier) no more water splashed in from the back, not is from the front as it is a wet ride, but who doesn’t like wet rides ha…ha…, it is very stable I can stand in one side and it won’t rock, I also can attest that even full water won’t sink, but I learned that your fuel thank needs be higher just in case you end up having salt water getting into it from the vent. I seat a bit further up on the boat and got a tiler extension, and thinking buy a hydrofoil just to see if I can bring the bow a bit lower when moving, I’m enjoying the boat now but 2 essentials you must have. 1) drysuit/coxswain suit to keep you dry, 2) oars either whaly oars and oars lock/ or your ones tied up with some kind rope contraption if you don’t like idea cutting hole in boat. Keep your videos coming thanks

Also, as my budged at the time was short, I didn’t Purchased the whaly seat box, (£130)I end up using a large cool box that I drilled some rod holders and my fishfinder mount. I end up replacing it with wood board with wood “plank” under it that slots on the whaly design mould. I got some “cushions” attached to it with Velcro and the fish mount screwed in, easy to remove for storage. The 2 holes on the transom, I cut 2 lengths of black pvc but large screw/rod through it with washers.I got the fishfinder cable n transducer on one at the bottom, and use the tops as rod holders, can also be easily taken for storage or when you put boat cover. I never travel with engine on transom when on trailer, just have vision that transom will crack….any thoughts it that ?

I use a transom saver on my outboard which has a spring to take any heavy bumps or unwanted loading onto the transom. The weight of the outboard is placed onto the trailer instead of the transom, works a treat! If your interested I can put up a video of it.

Sounds like you could use and enjoy a Whaly 370. Many of your difficulties would be solved. it is a great boat. But it is also nice to learn and step up when you can.

I have the baby Whaly 270, so stable for such a small boat. Heavy though, so ignoring the 8hp Max I gave fitted a 15hp 2 stroke and she flies !! Need a hydrofoil as it’s hard to get out of the hole and get the front down until I hit planing speed. So easy to mount/fit accessories to the plastic too. Great boats.

Hi ! I have also a 370 and it is a very good boat ! One question: have you a latter to get onboard after diving ? Thanks !

Hey, no ladder is needed for the 370 as it’s super easy to hop back into from the water even without fins.

I recently purchased a Whaly 370 powered by a Honda BF20 and have not put it in the water yet. Do you find that the bow rides high? Have you found it necessary to use a hydrofoil if so? As far as tying an anchor line, I had a machine shop fabricate a stainless steel piece that fits over the plastic piece through which the line passes with a cleat attached to it with a bolt that passes through the hole where the line did go. I believe it will work quite well. I'll post a video before too long of the work I've had done. Thanks for the videos, they're well done!

Hi Ronald, I find the bow rides high on initial exhilaration and then once on the plain it sits very flat. I am looking to buy a hydrofoil to help left the bow at cruising speed and hopefully reduce some of the spray. I have a manual trim outboard so hard to trim at speed so hopefully this will fix my issue. Look forward to seeing your stainless steel anchor cleat idea, sounds like a great idea.

Good heavy anchor, boat has a light profile and wind can drag you and light anchor

@@Deep_Down_Productions I just throw a bag of pebbles in the front or make a PVC tiller extension so you sit more forward
