That last part reminded me Crossroads Steve Vai’s just before Ralph macchio finished him. I thought he used a wah. Then I thot, Floyd rose would give that sound. Never realized it was just a standard whammy bridge smh

Do you need to use a hi gain distortion to get them squeels? Mine always sound weak compared to them screams...
@FretlixGuitar
@FretlixGuitar Год назад
It is definitely a lot easier with high gain and it helps the harmonics really squeal! You can get the same sort of effect with a lighter overdrive but in the video I am using a high gain sound to make the harmonics really pop!

How much does it detune your guitar? Im an acoustic player and wanna get an electric for fun just to play some random licks and some fuzzy hendrix type stuff and everything i see with the floyd rose seems complicated especially if i wanna play open tunings with a slide..

If you have a good trem system which is well set up the guitar should hold its tuning. Some guitars though can be a nightmare for tuning with a lot of whammy use. Best thing is to try a few guitars out, give the whammy bar some heavy use and see if the guitar holds tuning :)

Please tell me, what do you do to keep your guitar in tune with such deep playing with whammy bar? I thought such stability of guitar construction was possible only when using floyd rose. Thanks!

The guitar I’m using in the video hold it’s tuning really well but there’s a few things that you can do to help. Make sure you really secure the strings around the tuning pegs, locking tuners help or wind the string over itself when putting a new string on. Make sure the nut where the strings sit is properly lubricated, graphite works well. Make sure your guitar is properly set up. Thicker strings tend to hold tuning a little better. Regularly change your strings, old strings go out of tune quicker. If you have good quality we’ll set up instrument you should find it holds it tuning pretty well with the tips above. I hope that helps :)

what kind of tones do i need? the lows, the mids, the highs??? the gain and the volume?? please help!!

To really make this technique sound really 'rocky' as I did in the video the main place to start would be gain. As a rule of thumb gain is how distorted the sound is and volume is just the sound louder or quieter. Get a fairly high gain sound to start with whether it's from an amp, pedal, simulator etc etc. In the video I used a Kemper profiler with a Soldano SLO100 profile with the gain at 3 o clock,. EQ wise, just set them all at half, 12 o clock, and work from there. Different amps and guitars will need different eq settings so it's hard to just say exact setting for those but all at half way should be a great starting point for you :) I hope that helps??

locking tunners to keep it in tune???
@FretlixGuitar

That definitely helps. You can still do this technique without them but may find your guitar will drop out of tune. A good setup helps!
