Google Zeitgeist is a collection of talks by people who are changing the world. Hear entrepreneurs, CEOs, storytellers, scientists, and dreamers share their visions of how we can shape tomorrow.
I absolutely LOVED this! I'm a bit surprised that Mr. Kelly (nor his brother?) did not know of the proposed Nautilus (Artificial gravity) project which includes a full spaceship with a spinning ring (allowing crew members/astronauts to experience gravity, if only/at least while sleeping to offset some of the issues of microgravity) with an initial plan to have that Nautilus (spinning) ring attached to a portion of the ISS (as an initial test/phase prior to building the full spacecraft). [You may wanna check this out with Google/RU-vid when you get the chance] Also, slightly surprised no one (Including the woman who asked the excellent question - my favorite question BTW) mentioned the two great examples of this technology in the classic movie "2001 a Space Odyssey," which includes TWO good Examples of this tech: There is the giant ring we see near the beginning of the film (after the "prehistoric" section) and maybe more in tune with what we may be able to develop in the near future, on the spaceship that travels to Jupiter ("Open the pod bay doors, HAL") where the ring is not as large, but allows the astronauts the ability to live work and exercise in at least partial Earth gravity. I would think by now we would have something like that as part of the ISS. Now for those who might counter, indicating that many of the science experiments deal with the effects of microgravity/zero-G, I would add that maybe even the largest portion of the space station would still be not spinning/in 0G. Also, even if you had a giant ring and nothing else, at the very CENTER of the ring, you have Zero Gravity but then also, you would have the awesome ability to do experiments in stages (i.e., with higher and higher "gravity," as you place those experiments farther and farther from the center. So you could, effectively, do experiments with Martian gravity at a certain point along one of the spokes of the wheel, etc. (proposing that the very outer edge of the wheel would be higher than Martian gravity). I could go on, however I don't want this to be a long comment and…… whoops! ...too late for that, LOL! :-)
I could immediatly tell that this wasnt Scott on Earth by mouth movements when speaking and I don't really know much about them aside for being twins and both astronauts
***** ISS has gravity for sure. The earth is pulling them. That's why they never float still. They tent to move or fly away, it's because the earth is to close. ( some conspiracy nuts think they are on a 0 gravity air plane because of that or on a harnas)
+theoriginalmungaman it gets crazier than this and I'm not joking ...Mark Kelly and Scott Kelly are the same actor. Because of the alleged duration he is supposed to be up on the space station if someone spotted him while he was vacationing on earth at the same time and he didn't have an identical twin brother than the entire house of cards come down. Trust me they are one and the same actor. They never do wide shots where they both look at each other. Its difficult to get one actor to sync up a look simultaneously and that is why you will never see a wide shot interaction.
Brad Miller we meet during an tour with part of my aviation class and all of us got to meet the brothers and talk about their careers in aviation as well as being astronauts. I specifically remember asking what got them interested in it all and if they'd push for his kids to pursue aviation.
Oh my days!! Call me a conspiracy theorist but at 3:33 (33 mason) he says we walk around on the floor? What!?!?!? Sorry but all your CGI shows you all floating!! HMMMMMMM It must just be me......
Another conspiratard in the comment section. Let me guess. Some conspiracy and flat earth nutjob on youtube posted a video and now you are one of the chosen few that knows 'Da Troof", right? Riiiiight.
