Egypt didn't want to administer Israel's concentration camp so they just gave it to Israel. West Bank was part of Jordan after the 1948 war, Israel took it in 1967, You will often hear "1967 borders" because the international community does not recognize Israeli "settlers" that steal land in West Bank as legitimate, yet they do nothing about it.

For those who still think Israel is a democratic state should ask themselves the followings: How many check points did you pass recently from going from onr city to another? How many soldiers were interupted your daily life? Not to mention the raids.
That's Gaza they're talking about not being occupied since 2005, not the West Bank. Israel still controls what goes into Gaza but there is no occupation inside. If there were an occupation in Gaza then Hamas would never have had the capability to execute their Oct 7 attack. Kind of justifies why Israel was there in the first place if you think about it.

well thank you for this explainer. I didn't know the west bank was controlled by the Israeli army and armed settlers. That is not fair for the Palestinians and makes you think Hamas's action ( though I do not agree with violence and killing innocent people ) must have been out of anger and rage put on them by the unfair treatment they get from Israel.
This goes beyond Hamas. Historically, the land was technically to be split evenly. However, portions of the Israelis think they are entitled to all the land, and portions of Palestinians thing they are entitled to it. It’s been a tug of war ever since Israel became a state and Israeli leadership has been slowly obtaining more and more, and have been allowed to get away with it. Hamas and the current far right Israeli leadership want to see each other wiped out (NOT the regular people on either side who just want to live in peace with dignity)

This all breaks my heart but I dont know what I can do. I was taught not to complain unless I could offer at least one solution. I can think of no solution other than two states but I think that has been tried already. Or it has been discussed but for one reason or another the discussion falls apart.

People are becoming aware of these facts and it’s beyond disturbing how the Palestinian people have been treated and shameful how they are target now for Genocide. What did Israel expect?
