hii, it rlly depends on your professor whether they require it or not. In my case, they do not require them unless used for reporting or research purposes. Also, we don't use laptop during lectures. I hope this answers your questions
mostly professors allow laptop or ipad during lectures, only if used in lectures alone. Some get to be strict when you're caught doing other stuffs on your ipad or laptop. They will give you the freedom to use it but not required since not all have those.
