As another momma that had a shoulder dystocia baby, you do what you feel safest with! My baby couldn’t move her arm for the first week due to hers. I don’t think some people understand how scary and dangerous it can be. Best wishes to you on your birth!
@bkessinger94 my son had it as well. I am a mimi now and we didn't get ultrasounds or anything. That child weighed 10lbs 14ozs and was 23 1/2 inches long. Very scary to have ur husband kicked out of the room and 6 ppl pushing on your belly. I already had a girl first, so I was done!
@beckyz1393 that is a big baby! My little girl was 8 pounds 7 ounces and 21 &1/2 inches, but I’m only 5’1. I was also told any future babies would need to be a c-section. My nurse who was about my height threw my 5’11 250 pound husband out of the way like he was a rag doll! Lucky for me, we had a nicu team in the room already because she had meconium and they didn’t want her to aspirate. (she was born during Covid) Later on I had a coworker try and tell me I would not need a c-section in the future and that my OB didn’t know what she was talking about. 🙄 I think I will stick with the professional recommendations for any future babies.
@mandik2050 yes he was big! I only gained 30 lbs. Now that he is an adult he is 6'4" Big guy. Our first was a girl and she was 9lbs 3 ozs. She has 2 daughters and her first baby had it. Second daughter was planned c section. It is scary. I'm happy with my two kids. They are 41 and 44..crazy how time flies.
Congratulations on the baby! I'm a C-section mama, and I highly recommend bringing a loose casual dress for postpartum/going home. The incision area is so sensitive after that you really don't want anything to touch it. Sending prayers for a safe delivery!
Yes, you are absolutely correct. It's been 21 years since I've had my last c-section. I definitely remember pants/shorts being uncomfortable. Underwear, too.
Agreed. Even my maternity pants rubbed and made my incision hurt so bad. I ended up borrowing my husband’s pants to wear home and it still was so uncomfortable. A dress or gown would have been a great idea.
L&D nurse here- shoulder dystocia is no joke! Don't worry at all about what others have to say, Abby, you are making the choice that feels right/safe for you and your baby. Can't wait to see how sweet and cute he is!
Hi Sarah, I would like your thoughts on something. I'm an RN (and MOM of 3), however, never worked L/D outside of when in School worked on the unit PT. Anyway, I thought that suggestion/tip she had about the Coconut Oil on baby's bum immediately, to prevent the case of Meconium sticking is brilliant! And I wondered why that tip is not used as a standing protocol on newborns.... I mean I'm assuming because it isn't a 'medical need', however it certainly could/would protect the integrity of the skin *(and the bonus of baby's comfort). Anyway, is there anything like that, which is incorporated for that reason?
@@sassyfras4085I just happened upon your comment, and if I may answer from my experience as a NICU nurse, we routinely use Vaseline to keep the meconium from sticking to the baby's bums. I think I was recommended that with both of my own newborns too.
Ughh baby august is gonna be such a little sweetheart! Just like Griffin. It's so sweet how Matt is so supportive and humourous. And I love how organised and prepared Abby is, I could never 😂 Good luck and congratulations! 🥳 Can't wait to see baby Auggie!
Congratulations on your new upcoming baby 🎉. I felt my youngest child start to move at 10 weeks. The doctor told me that was impossible, but I know that I felt it, and was a very busy one, and when she was born she hit the ground running. She is very active and never sits still!! Always talking , jumping, fidgeting etc... car trips are always the worst , 5 min after we leave , how much longer or are we there yet. So enjoy your little bundle of energy when he comes😊
So excited!! Great job mom and dad! Griffin will be the best older brother ever. Don’t worry about the age gap they have. Me and my brother are exactly 11 months apart on the day and we are very close and I love it. Would not change it any other way.
Aww you guys are gonna be such amazing parents!!❤ praying for Little Auggie and you guys!! Can’t wait to see this little guy!!🥰 you guys are doing amazing and I hope you continue doing what you do!! 😊😊-love from California!!
Nipple shields were a godsend. I was so sore I would cry when my daughter nursed, no way I would have been able to continue without those!! Can’t wait to see baby boy!!
The large panties are wonderful after a c-section. My mom gave me those while I was in hospital with my first c-section. It gave me the much needed support and didn’t make the surgical site hurt. Blessings to you and your family 😊 Yes the $40 water bottle is important ❤️
Hope all went well for your delivery and you're recovering well! I'm curious when little Auggie was born as our little boy also had to be born via c section on Friday after being induced for two days, 3 hours of pushing. No one knew how big he would be for me at just under 9 pounds! Totally would've opted for c section on its own just like you Abby. You are a rockstar mom! let's do this and recover well and enjoy our sweet babies 😊 You two are such a light for many people, I know you brightened my day while being in hospital for days already. ❤️
Prayers for your friends in Hawaii!!!! You guys were the one of my first thoughts I’m glad the universe had different plans for you and your growing family and your back on the mainland… prayers for your C-section also!
Very happy for you both and Griffin ❤❤❤. If the due date is August 15th then they like to do the C section sometime before that date. So I’m thinking you might have already welcomed Little August!!
Yall are my comfort channel ive been watching you guys since i was pregnant you made me feel alot better about being a new mom. So excited for auggie😊😊
Congratulations on baby August Jacob Howard. August and Griffin are loved so much!❤ You and Matt are AMAZING parents! I hope the delivery goes smoothly!
My mom had an emergency c-section with me and I can't believe how mean people were to her when they found out she had one. You are doing best decision for you and your son. Wishing you a fast and safe delivery!
Wow how times have changed! ALL that stuff to go have a baby. No judging just very different from when way back I went to have babies. I love how organized you are and can't wait to meet new sweet baby.
My guess is he’s already been born! If the due date is the 15th they usually do c-sections two weeks early, so that would be August 1st. I’m so happy for you guys. I have three boys and they all came c-section. You got this mama. Your going to do great!! Your boys are going to be the best of friends. 💙
So happy for you guys. Griffin is gonna he an amazing big brother. I love watching you guys hope everything goes really well in the next couple of days ❤❤
congratulations again! definitely pack and use the c section recovery band, its a lifesaver. your own pillow and don't forget a pillow and blanket for Matt (hospital sometimes doesn't have extra ones or good ones).. maybe some easy fruit to eat and stay hydrated. and you can use the coconut oil on the nips too as a lube if you're pumping and its safe for baby :) you don't have to take your pump and just in case there's issues and you need it maybe someone can grab it for you later with a couple bottles. good luck!!! and sound machine is a genius idea to carry
I think a great thing to bring to the hospital is a long grabber. This is great for those who can’t keep getting out of bed to pick up things that we drop, and believe me, we do drop things. It was a lifesaver for me as it took way to long to get help and besides as a retired R.N. I like to help myself.
First time C-section mamas stay 48 hours where I work. If you feel like you'd like to pump with your personal pump before going home you can definitely take your own or your hospital should have an electric pump available to mamas. I'm so happy for you and your little family!
Previa and shoulder dystocia are two good reasons for c sections. A good mother thinks of her baby's health before the birth she wants. Good luck and congratulations 🎉
I’m so happy for you guys to have this baby! I’ve been watching you Guys for so long. I remember when you had griffin. You guys will be the best parents to 2 kids. Congrats! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Congrats!!! I can’t wait to see more of your journey and I am so proud of how strong both of you are. I really hope I run into you guys one day and talk. I feel like I know you guys and to meet you would be a dream come true. Have a great day 😊
My second baby was more wild in the belly than my first she would always react to every touch, and the Ob was always also surprised that she was also always moving a lot. She’s almost 8 weeks now and she’s been the most chill baby💕😊 and on average moms go past their due date for their second baby, not all but on average most (which doesn’t matter because you’ll be scheduled for C-section) but I always felt like she was coming and I was dilated and my Ob didn’t think it’d make it to my due date but she was shocked that I went almost 41 weeks
Second time mom here! One unplanned c-section and one planned. I never brought anything extra for me to breastfeed. Used whatever the hospital had 😊 congratulations on that sweet new baby❤
I'm gonna be honest with u I love watching ur videos they saved me in dark dark times whenever u have a video/short I always watch it as fast as I can I will never stop watching u no matter what u do never quit keep up the amazing work
I cant wait to see how their family grows I am so excited to see what the future holds for you and your family! I can't wait for baby August to be here! Sending love from the UK! 💗
Im so Happy fot you guys! You guys are such amazing people taking care of your family but also, Being amazing content creators! Cant wait to meet Auggie! ❤
Was waiting to see if you were taking a pillow lol it’s been a long time since I’ve had a C-section. 17 years actually 😳 but a pillow was a saving grace while being wheeled out of the hospital and driving home. I just put it between me and the lap belt. The recovery band may work just as well. Only other advice is get up and walk around as soon as you can, it’ll help your recovery so much and help to avoid clots from forming. Aside from that just get help when getting up from a laying down/sitting position and vice versa. Wishing you, Matt, griffin and august all the best ❤
Have to add, I’ve had 7 abdominal surgeries (endometriosis) since my son was born and no one told me how much pain I’d have in my shoulder afterwards and how itchy I would be from the medication. Two things that helped a lot were a heating pad and Benadryl. Hopefully you don’t experience either of those symptoms but if you do it would be a good idea to have those two items on hand. ❤ praying for a smooth delivery and a swift recovery, Abby 🙏🏼
I’m so excited for you guys and baby number two griff Is going to be the best big brother. Love you guys and wishing you all the best xo Abby is soo cute and hilarious “Matt stop making excuses”. My sons dad was 14lbs when he was born and I was super nervous with my pregnancy because I’m not even 5 feet tall 🤦🏻♀️. Love you guys can’t wait till lil man is here 💙
