I'm a postpartum nurse, this is a great stash to bring! One thing I'll recommend is that you have a pediatrician lined up for the baby too :) we ask our moms for a pediatrician so the hospital can send the metabolic screening results (Phenylketonuria PKU test) to their office for your follow up visit. The hospital will have everything you need :)

I went to the hospital with everything you mentioned and ended up using nothing 😭 they had everything I needed. Everything happened so fast, when you are in pain you forget everything. The only thing I used was slippers, toothbrush, and a set of clothes. It’s good to be prepared though!

Bring a folder for any paperwork they give you! And definitely go with the rolling suitcase. The less things you or your hubby have to haul around the better. Prayers to you and your hubby for what will be one of the best and most memorable experiences of your lives! ❤

I’ve delivered at 3 different hospitals now and they definitely have had everything I needed for baby and myself! I’ve never had weird brands for diapers or wipes (huggies or pampers). And don’t be shy to ask for extra postpartum stuff to take home with you!

I just had my first baby in May. They definitely will have everything you and baby need. One thing that is extra that my husband and I loved having was my laptop so that we could watch whatever we wanted together while holding our sleeping newborn. We had our daughter in the evening so we ended up staying all the next day as well. I feel like I packed not a whole lot, and it still was too much. Also, definitely don't pack tons of baby clothes. My daughter stayed in her diaper and got swaddled in that until we took her home, because so many people come and go checking on baby and you that it was just easier to have her already not clothed. I also just stayed in my hospital gown the whole time. I wouldn't even mess with pants after birth. The hospital gown was so much easier to breast feed in. Good luck! I pray a peaceful birth ❤

They have everything you need including wipes! (At least my hospital did). We used everything they provided and then took the extras home. I also would say the gown pajamas are the best! Especially the ones with the buttons so you can nurse easily. I did not want to put on pants at all lol. Congrats mama! 🤍

Yes! Way too much stuff! You wont use half of it. But like you said, do what makes you feel comfortable… you’ll know more for the next baby. Also, your milk doesn’t come in for a few days so you won’t need the pads but what a beautiful miracle to have your babe nurse right away and get all that nourishing colostrum! Congratulations!! You are darling!! ❤

Suit case is def easier to carry ,But this time around for #2 got a weekender bag and it’s such a nice size and it’s so cute!! (Hubby was the one rolling it anyways🙊😅😅 gonna make him carry it this time) Only thing I didn’t like (our suitcase was hardcover) was to keep it open and easy to access- it was wide open the whole time and had to find a spot for it (table or just the ground (it was carry-on size) closing it each time was to much of a hassle

I had two babies at the same hospital & they provided literally everything. But now with my third I have to go to another hospital & they don’t even provide a water bottle, swaddle nothing haha it’s so bizarre but I asked for an itemized list of things they do provide & I’m so glad that I did!!!

You are such a beautiful mama to be and are going to be an amazing mum. The hospital will have everything that you & baby will need ☺️🥰 most people only stay in the hospital for 12-24 hours. If you & baby are feeling well, some mothers are ready to go after 6-8 hours!! Unless of course you are having a C-section, than you have to be prepared for a bit longer. Do pack snacks!!! Sending blessings ❤

I would definitely recommend lanolin for nipple soreness! Since it's safe for nursing with baby, I felt like that was the only thing to provide relief in the first couple weeks. :)

The wet cloths are a thing, but I was told that is because it's gentler on their skin, you can ask for wipes if you want it. :) highly recommend your own towel, just cause it feels gross being in all the hospital stuff after a day.. but, totally up to you. I get not wanting to take it too. You're going to do so great!!

hi Michelle! not sure which hospital you are delivering at but Med City Dallas definitely had wipes. They let us take some home too! The only pp supplies they didn't have was dermaplast if you want to pack it.

We used a suit case the first time, this time I planning to do a weekender bag. The wheels you think would be nice, but we left with so much stuff we ended up using a card to take stuff to the car so the wheels didn't end up mattering lol

I agree with what you packed. Very minimal 👍🏻 I would skip bringing your own ice packs. They are bulky and It will save you space. They 100% have those at the hospital. The only outfit my babies wore was their “going home” fit. I did skin-to-skin the whole time so I didn’t pack options of clothes. Also, if possible bring an UNPACKED bag so you can bring home with you all the diapers/wipes/ postpartum stuff in your room, and any paperwork the hospital gives you.
@MickeyR843
@MickeyR843 7 месяцев назад
The first hospital I delivered at had wipes. But i delivered at a different hospital with my 2nd and they had dry wipes that you had to wet before use which I wasn’t expecting so I didn’t bring any wipes. Personally, I would just bring a pack to be on the safe side!

You have done a great job in preparing! I actually labored nude because I got so hot, and in so much "pressure" i couldn't have cared less. I loved my own disposable options than the hospitals, made me feel much more comfortable and myself. I after birth the only thing i wanted was a full shower because I got soo hot, and i just used a hospital bar of soap n hospital items. The hospital definitely had all we needed except clothing, chargers, pillows and blankets. For me i was extra sensitive to noise so ill be bringing my ear plugs.

So i never really liked anything velcro swaddles because they dont really seem to stick together and then it gets in the babies chin and gets irritating. But the night gowns are so great for bedtime and some socks and they are good to go! Kyte baby is so great! We love their baby stuff!

A carryon suitcase seems nice but the problem with that is that you don’t know if you’ll have a nice area to lay it and easily open and close it. Seems like shoulder bags are just more practical and easy to reach in and grab whatever you need.
