What’s Inside Excalibur Canister Shells? 

I’d like to make it clear that even though I sometimes give these shells a hard time, they’ve always been one of my favorites for the price point! I’ve been buying them since 12 years old and I continue to buy them every year to this day.

I've never seen anyone write a 2 like you did, starting from the end I had to rewind the video 10 seconds to make sure I seen that correctly 🤣

As i was watching this video someone really popped a loudass firework. 😂(Currently 2:30 a.m )

When I first started buying fireworks I only bought ball shells. That was before I knew canister shells were a thing. When I saw a box one year I bought it ($75, I through WHY NOT). Holy moly they were loud. Now all I buy is Excalibur and Pro Shells. I occasionally get a box of ball shells 🤪

You should take open up 10 canister shells and mix everything together and light it off

Cody I have an idea Step1. Break the stick off an 1.75” ball shell rocket 2. Make the fuze long enough to go out the tube 3. Put in tube then light And also can you try put a crackling ball on top a canister shell in the tube

You should really get “Nikishi Blast” shells! Their so much fun. Also, I think you should have a weekly contest for people to send you a firework video and for you to post it on your channel. Just a suggestion!

Quick tip. Open the top take out all the clay and powder. Then full it up with flash powder & bamm you have the block busters

Ever add to shells together and try to fire them off? Maybe fill a 6” shell with two shells.

Totally agreed regarding xcals. I try a new brand every year, but I don’t often find a compelling reason to replace my go-to canister shell.

Why does the composition cost so much? Display companies and providers are taking a hit this year but then I realized, all these chemicals don't HAVE to cost as much as they do. Do they?

A year late. But New Years last year. I bought a 24 kit of Excaliburs. GODDAMN! Those things are BEASTS!

There are many great cans out there all coming from the same factories. I usually get what I can get the best deal on. Excals are good, just like most others but I wouldn't pay a premium for these.

I've been curious what's inside one with the dual lift. I'm glad someone finally cut one open. People feared they might have severely lowered how much comp is in them. I'm still not sure if that's the case. They are on the low side, but not so much that I'd say it's that drastic. The average is 43g for comp and 10g for lift. If anything, I'd say they're just below average, but that's kinda how I felt about excals already.

Keep an eye out for Black Cat’s new 5” shell. I’ve seen demos, they look like the truth. Hard to tell how hard it hits without seeing it in person though.

First time I've seen double side lift charge on Excalibur shell. I have some older Excalibur shells from 2010 the clay on top is rock hard, I noticed that the Excalibur shells I got from about 5 years or so is just loose clay. I don't know about the plastic tops since I haven't seen them yet. I still have a few boxes of both 2010 and 2015 Excaliburs and definitely the 2010 box are much better and louder breaks. I did take both apart to see the difference and that's when I noticed the change. I dunno exactly when they changed but had to be after 2010 to 2015. My neighbor gave me full box of Excaliburs last 4th and I'll check those shells out too. I'm curious now about how those one are made. Great video!

The '18 might be littler louder but the '15 seem to have bigger break and more effect to it.

You tared the scale with the pink fuse on it still . . . 😂 . . . Tare is supposed to be done with nothing on the scale.

I can't wait for you to do the demo for the new Excalibur Platinum I just bought some for $100 had to drive out to Wyoming to get them but I was told they are Bigger, Better and Louder I would also like to see a comparison between the Excalibur and The Excalibur Platinum that would be cool

I think it's a cool idea to have two lift charges. It's like a USB-C connector. You can never get it in even though both ways are correct.

i love this kind of informative videos. i like to open fireworks to see what's really happening and you do a bigger firework from that ! do you have an idea what the I.D. of the paper tube and the thickness?

I don't like the plastic top on shells because they cause issues the next morning with the garbage tops scattered everywhere

Plastic cups are probably not a good idea to be using for this as they can build static. Paper would be a much wiser choice. Your sweatshirt also looks like it might not be 100% cotton. You need to think about these things when dealing with fireworks in this manner.

Question CodyBPyrotechnics is it me or are some shells glued and some aren’t the top cap yk I ended up purchasing some excals notice few deformities but no fakes no labels under some are just not glued and I re glued. Them my self is that a problem?

Yeah I bought 2 cases worth orf shells this nye 3 random packs and a full case of excals...my only complaint is as recently as yesterday I'm getting fuses that light but shells dont go off 3 so far from a pack... not cool..

I’m ordering a case of these and also ordering different 500gram cakes. What are your recommendations on putting on an decent fireworks show for family and friends? I have been looking on overstock central fireworks because they have free shipping and 20% off right now. I have a cart full but wondering if what I have is good.

Have you tried getting a decibel meter for your videos? Make sure it can record the peak volume, so you don't have to video the meter all the time.

CODY, scale needs to be on a hard surface to get accurate measure. now you need to remake the entire video.

Have you shot great grizzly XL or XXL canister shells? Those are suppose to have large breaks and are very loud as well. Wouldn't mind seeing a review video on that.

How often do you buy Excalibur shells?

That's crazy that they have lift charge on both ends! I mean, I can understand why they did it as an added precaution to make it more "idiot-proof"...but I'm thinking what if something goofy happens and one charge goes off a few milliseconds after the other and it gets kicked in a random direction at a low altitude? Oh, and also the added dead weight....sometimes simpler is better, no? Be safe & always put the shell in the correct way and set on a hard flat surface(& and inspect tube & clay fill at bottom & and where tube is stapled to base for damage after each launch before reloading) and there's less need for such a costly safety measure. Also...if you don't have a rack for multiple tubes, at the very least find a suitable sized junk/old disc brake rotor to anchor the tube so it can't tip over & kill your neighbors baby in it's mother's arms.

How can I tell if they are 2015 or 2018 without opening the box?

You should have got the same design or firework from each box so you are comparing weights to different effects

So the xtra lift in 2015s just blow with the break? Why cant you tell, and if it dont does it just rain down everywhere? When I had excals back in the day, I remember them raining down stuff after break, wonder if that was xtra lift? charge?

Can you take the insides of a canister shell and put it in a cup and light it.
