What’s Inside This Well Organized Tool Shop On Wheels? (Tour)

I thought it would be fitting to do a tour of my Ford Transit van after the shop tour video. It has most everything I need for cabinet installs, millwork installation and light remodeling. Everything has a place and its most likely found in a Festool systainer. The van is a medium length and medium height interior. It has definitely been an upgrade for the type of work I do now compared to the truck with a utility body bed prior when I performed more remodeling than cabinet building. If you have any questions please drop a comment. I really appreciate you watching!

Impressive overview and thanks for the great video and detail. Lot of takeaways/ideas for somebody building in a compact space. Big fan of how you are keeping everything clean - both in van and shop.

Hey man. Great video's. Just a quick question. Im in the same business and I was wondering what the benefits of your Grex nailers vs a cordless nailer? I have not turned a compressor on in years fort nailers but figured maybe you had a legit reason based on the quality of work you have shown in a few of your videos. Thx! Keep up the great vids!
@crossgrain327
@crossgrain327 2 месяца назад
Great question Vincent. I obviously carry both types and anything beyond a quick install I’d prefer my pneumatic nailers. They’re seem to be more consistent on nail driving depth

We have a lot in common. I think and work in systems. Organization allows me to focus on the task required instead of digging through random boxes hoping to find what I need. From the looks of your van, you likely have $100,000 invested in this set-up, not to mention the shop and tools you have dedicated to it. Do you keep the van tools dedicated to the van or do you use them to go between shop and van?
@crossgrain327
@crossgrain327 3 месяца назад
Yes I rely heavily on organization in both the van and shop. I have multiples of several tools and everything stays in the van and in the shop. I’d surely forget something that cost me more in the long run than just buying one for site work. I like the way think

If I can make a suggestion I think a cool video would be how you design your cabinets on a wall or layout an entire kitchen. I’m thinking like uppers, lowers, sink centers, returns etc. Just overall how to navigate the whole design process. I don’t think there’s a good video that I’ve seen.

I think you are looking at this completely wrong. This is a professional cabinet shop. The tools are depreciable. The van is depreciable. And I doubt he plans on selling much of this until it is at the end of its service life. Yes, it is pricey, but these are investments is better work and a more pleasurable working environment. I would much rather hire this guy, and pay him more, than to have a joker in a clapped out Econoline with 17 Bojangles bags stuffed between his dashboard and his windshield. If you pay attention to your workspace, you will pay attention to your work - even the parts of the work that no one will ever see. I appreciate the attention to detail.
