What’s it like buying a motorcycle from Harley-Davidson 

Harley Davidson really makes you feel like you’re part of a big family. When I got my Harley my wife wasn’t able to come with me, I felt like a little kid explaining my time at Disney World. One of the best moments in my life so far.

Congratulations on your ST! When I rang my bell at Barnes Harley-Davidson in Edmonton, they had the thunder of half dozen Bikes roaring in the showroom. It was awesome!

At the dealership I worked for, if you were interested in a bike they would value your trade and then make it vanish into the back. They would park you in the finance office where the F&I guy would determine just how much in cash, trade value and credit line you had to spend. Then while they wrote up the paperwork that would hand you off to a pretty girl in motorclothes and she would sell you a helmet, gloves and a leather jacket. The next stop would be parts and service where they would sell you at least a stage one kit so your bike would run right and maybe some pipes to let the loud out. The whole process is designed to open your wallet and most people are so happy to be getting a new Harley that they just love the experience.

Congratulations on your new Harley-Davidson motorcycle. I use to work at a Harley-Davidson Dealership. I think the guy that reviewed the parts manual did an excellent job.

Earlier this year I was on a road trip from Ohio to California. Made a side trip to Vegas. A problem came up on my street glide special. I went to the dealer that's on the strip. They said that they couldn't see me till the next day. I didn't want to wait and frankly I didn't think the problem was very serious. I just wanted the dealer to double check. After asking several times for them to squeeze me in I kept getting the same response. That's when I rode over to Red Rock Harley. I explained the situation and they said bring it in. After about 30 mins they said I was good to go. As I kinda figured it wasn't too serious, but I wanted to get it checked. Red Rock is great and next time I am in the area I will go there if need be and not to the dealer that's on the strip. If you do any long distance riding and camping like I do I would suggest getting the quick detachable king tour pack. When you have the tour pack on there's plenty of room for your gear and you can strap on some gear on top of it as long as you have the rack. With the tour pack on it's like a Cadillac. With the tour pack off it's like a sports car. Like having two bikes in one. Congrats on your scoot. Very nice. Be prepared to spend some hard-earned money. Pipes were first for me. That's cool that the dealer played the music you requested. Again. Congrats on your new ride.

The parts guy did an awesome job! Just so you know, Harley doesn't have a process, dealers have a process and this dealer has it dialed in!

I got a low rider S 117 last week and its freaking crazy bike. I cannot wait for the 1000km service so I can rev above 3000rpm. oh yeah 🤙

The super cool thing about Harley is they actually expect you to come back occasionally to just hangout and talk. I dare you to do that with any other auto manufacturer...they'd end up giving you the cold shoulder or ask you to leave. Harley is its own culture.

Congrats man! I work at a Harley Dealership here in Cbus, Ohio however I started out as a customer just like everyone else and the way I see it is buying an HD especially if it’s your first one is like taking your first step as a child. It really is a whole different life from there onwards.

October 6th I bought my Ultra Apex from Gold Rush HD in Elko Nevada. Traded my 2018 Ultra Classic with 49765 miles on it. The 50k service is $3500 and it needed tires. The picture is from just outside of Goldfield Nevada. Hopefully having the "wet heads " will help in a Nevada summer.

Congrats on your Harley! I bought my ‘19 Deluxe from Las Vegas Harley but have been taking my bike over to Red Rock Harley for service. Wife has a ‘14 Super Low Sporty that she bought from Red Rock Harley. Both places, it’s a production when you buy your baby! Think about joining the local HOG chapter. It’s all Harley owners who just want to ride! They do a whole bunch of rides, just about every week. And some are just rides to grab a bite and back all the way to a weeklong ride. Back in May or so, we went to Zion in Utah for an overnight. But, yeah Red Rock will definitely take care of you no problem.

Congrats on the bike thing is sweet🤘. I had a completely different experience with HD. Went into my local dealership with about 10k in my sick ass fanny pack, sat on a few bikes looked around. Nobody came up to me (I'm younger just got off work looking broke) I went up to one guy and asked where the salespeople are at and he said "I'm one" then I got a smirk of like "you sure you can afford a bike?" so I left and went and bought a used 08' from a private dealer same day 😄

I'm a little late to seeing this, but congrats to you! I've been riding Harley's for 25 years. Next year will be bike #5! Wife and daughter learned to ride this year. It doesn't get old. Hope you are enjoying your ride, that ST is nice!

Man, I'm excited for ya brother! I bought the same bike a few weeks ago. I'm glad I spent the extra money and went with the ST. I was initially going to buy the Special but I would've always been thinking about the one that got away. I took it on a 2300 mile road trip before I put it in winter storage. The break-in service was a little pricey at about $500.00. The pipes are obviously quiet and don't match the look of the bike. I put on some Khrome Werks slip-ons. Probably won't add many more mods except maybe some Mayhem bars. I like the bike as is. Looks like you had a good buying experience. No idea what you ended up paying for yours, but I walked out the door after taxes and all the other added expenses after laying down a cashiers check for $35,000. Not sure if I paid too much but it's what I was willing to spend. I'd recommend buying a rain sock for the breather just in case you get caught in some bad weather. Looks pretty nice there though compared to Virginia. Enjoy it brother!

Great Video. The ride home on your new Harley is always a memorable one, I decided to not take the freeway cause I wanted to cruise through town. Main road had water running across it. Got my new bike dirty BUT, it was a great ride. Enjoy your new bike. Park that thing in the living room so you can watch TV while you clean it up. LOL

Red Rock HD is the best dealer on the planet IMO. I've bought 8 bikes there and know their entire staff. Nothing but world-class people. They once bought back a bike from me that we owned for a year (that I bought my GF) at full price of what I had paid since it hit lemon law qualifications. They told me they would deal with HD corp on my behalf. Mind you, they did this for me one week before me and my girl were set to do a week-long bike trip. So they bought the bike back (street 750) at full price of what I paid a year earlier, rolled that into a newer better bike for her, and gave me a great deal on the new street bob. Best of all, we brought her down to RRHD under the premise she was getting rental from them, then had them announce on the loudspeaker that she was the brand new owner of a Street Bob, and on cue my salesman rolled it out at the same time. Epic surprise they helped with.

Buying a H-D from a dealer is ignorant. I've been riding for 45 years, even worked at a dealership for awhile back in the day, but haven't been to a dealership since 2000. I can't understand..you pay 30k+ and the first thing they do is try ta sell ya new parts for it..then resell your old parts. Also, if you have them service it, ask them..what should be the oil temp be when hot?..if he says: 260-280-300 Run away, cuz he's ignorant too. Good luck. ✌

Just bought my first harley davidson last Saturday. I picked up a 2020 street glide standard. Its definitely a process. They even put it in winter storage at no cost to me this year. I'm already itching for spring so I can get it out on the road.

Congratulations! Last year I bought new street glide special and anticipate you will be very happy with this purchase. Mine is a dream come true. Seat and rear shocks and short windshield had to go to the trash. I also drilled small holes in the circumference of the rear exhaust baffles as apposed to spending money on slip on's.

Awesome video man. I bought my first Harley from a friend who needed some $$$ and he physically couldn't ride any more. My second (and current) Harley was bought at HD and we went through a similar thing to you. We had a poker run, (my hand sucked LOL) and the bell I rang was donated by a local FD and my dealership donates money to the fallen firefighters fund to help out their families. I helped my son buy a Harley and we too did the same thing and I got video of him ringing the bell. Its an awesome experience. Best part of it all is going for rides with my boy and teaching him how to work on the bike.

Best part is Lake Mead is only 5 minutes from my house. 32 years in the Vegas valley. Looking maybe Road King for 2023. I ride past Vegas Harley everyday, twice, on the way to work and home. Hope we cross paths some day.

Congratulations, I almost bought my Harley Heritage at Red Rock Harley-Davidson but the finance guy was a jerk so a few months later when the 2022 models were announced I went and bought at Las Vegas Harley-Davidson on the strip. I wanted the crimson and chrome and It took almost five months to come in after I placed my deposit. ( well worth the wait) They were much more friendly there however I didn’t get a parts book but they did give me a t-shirt.

You got a better experience than i did... the guys at Red Rock tried leading me around the store like a 5 year old and the sales guys stank of used car salesmen. I went to Henderson Harley and THEY treated me like family. hands down.
