In my country which is Vietnam, at the beginning when we still followed the "zero-COVID" policy, everyone who got infected by COVID-19 would be sent to the hospital too. Until the Delta variant swept away, we abandoned "zero-COVID" because we could no longer contain the virus. Now, people who aren't in critical condition will be self-treated at home.

But then your hospital would be overwhelmed if there are too many critical cases. zero covid doesn't meant it is zero. But you want to control as many outbreaks as possible. Vietnam and most places don't have the capability to do the testing and logistic to support the lockdown. Testing 5 million people in China actually only need to run several hundred covid tests when the infection rate is low. It is all about group sampling, eliminating clean groups and regroup the infected groups by process of elimination finding the infected. Actually China is using a statistical scientific approach very effectively in finding the infected people. The lockdown is only about 1 week or so. And the number of test would be several hundred not 5 millions when infection rate is still low.

The difference is China can maintain the Zero - Covid policy because they plan enough " Hospital bed " faculty , like building a mobile temporary Hospital within a week , which we in the Western media report that was a laughable ,and quarantine in control facility is much more effect to stop the spread then at home , even for 1.4 billion population

@@who52au To be honest, China's zero-Covid policy is very hard for many other country to follow. Must admit that their ability to build 'temporary hospitals' (which they don't dismantle and continue to use them as hospitals) in days was just not possible for most of us. I am also surprised that even Japan wasn't very successfully in controlling Delta because Japanese were well known for being meticulous and disciplined.

Changsha is truly a city of influencers. And, a chinese man gave an Italian girl a Norwegian flag? WTH..... Italy is definitely one of the most beautifyl countries in the world, sadly it is deeply impacted by the pandemic, looking forward to to be there again hopefully next year. The reason a lot of countries, including Italy, allow home quarantine is because the positive case number is so high that is beyond the capacity of their medical systems. So home quaratine is kinda an inevitable measure they have to settle for
