Huge tip for the flooding,never backup your car in the water just keep driving forward,if you reverse you just push the water through your exhaust to the motor.

@isaiah Lindo I just moved to Houston after living in NYC for 6 years and love it! I thought no place could beat NYC but Houston proved that wrong. I think NYC is generally overstimulating and you don't really realize that until you leave. I actually wish i left the city earlier. Houston has way better food, nice people, and low cost of living. The winters are cold but not too cold. And the summers are hot and humid but unlike NYC you don't need to walk everywhere. Summers in NYC are brutal. btw Coming from NYC i recommend moving inside the loop!!

I relocated to Houston from FL during my pregnancy last year. Houston is honestly the best state to be as a single mom! Lots of opportunities for getting on your feet and this is a great video showing pros and cons!

@@MsJLong27 Southwest is where you will find a lot of apartments and is more so affordable. Im from Houston, I recommend like Katy or Pearland areas maybe even Cypress. These are suburbs of the city btw.

I couldn't stand the heat in Texas so I moved to Seattle from Houston about 3 years. That was a huge mistake and can't wait to move back to my beloved H-town as soon as I have a chance. I miss Houston so much, it is such a great and diverse city with so many friendly locals.

Starting a business here is very wise. I’ll be doing a series documenting my journey so stay tuned for that! However, wherever you reside isn’t limiting. It’s usually US who limits ourselves by not creating a need for whatever market you’re in for your city. It goes beyond that but it also doesn’t hurt to branch out if you feel like you’ve outgrown where you reside. 🖤

If you don’t mind it being pretty quiet and very family oriented sugarland is a really nice place. You look younger though so if you’re not single you may find it hard to meet other singles. I personally really love montrose and if you’re worried about crime I never had an issue in that particular neighborhood. Schools aren’t that great though if you have kids:/

I don’t live in Houston, but I LOVE going to The Breakfast Klub whenever I’m in town. It’s black owned and soooo yummy! There is always a line, but they move super quick and very efficient. You should try it out! Also, try The Turkey Leg Hut. I haven’t been there yet, but heard great things about it. It’s in a black historic district, if I’m not mistaken and there are other good places to eat around there as well.

Foodie spots!!!! 1. clutch chicken its a food truck n seriously great fast food chicken! bbq! pit room. Voodoo doughnuts! wings n waffles at the breakfast club. n i have mow spots! Oh! Hi Local Houstonian here. Check out Third Ward that's where the culture is at, Turkey Leg Hut, Bar 5015, Truck Yard in Mid Town (very young professional, diverse crowd), Davenports have amazing martinis, A'dore on West Gray in the Midtown area.

I’m moving to Katy next month. I had a wonderful visit to Houston a couple of weeks ago. I’ve heard people say that the people drive crazy, but I’m from St. Louis. People literally try to kill you on the roads in STL, and they will laugh about it. Our tax rate is definitely higher in St. Louis, than in Houston, so no problem there. Oh, and for some good chicken wings, you should try Pluckerz. I was satisfied with their wings. But yes, good chicken wings are a bit harder to come by in Houston. One thing I did learn is that if you plan on going out to eat, you better call in head.

I knew when you said the taxes were higher that the business expenses would be even higher as well. As a life long Houstonian the weather will be very erratic mainly hot and humid, There’s always construction somewhere on the roads because we’ve been growing for so long and in Texas destinations are determined my length of time not distance lol and people drive stupid on Highway 45 and DO NOT move to Greenspoint or Acres Home it’s the hood. And our tax is 8% so dollar items are 1.08

I’m a seasoned insurance broker /Agency owner with no problems selling in any state unless they can’t afford to buy and that’s frightening because I make very good money in NC that relocated here from Kansas City,Mo but raised up in New York. Therefore,I have traveled much both international and visit many states . My problem is I am boarded and money means nothing when you are not happy or things to do without much traveling and met a man of my desire. Yes, I am divorced for many years now and they say it’s not my looks or personality so why am I still alone? I can’t find any man I would consider dating for more reasons to mention. Bottom line,how is the dating there in Texas for a good woman over 40?

I don’t know if you still need this info, but I can tell you from the outside looking in that the Metroplex (Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, etc) has a lot of dating options for people over 40. Burns BBQ is very good. And very well known. Many celebrities have been through there. Definitely a must. Arandas restaurant has great mexican food. Chicken wings- there are so many. U have big brands and small brands. Just a matter of preference. Street tacos are a must. For those that are moving here just do your research of the area and different school districts. That is VERY IMPORTANT. U will need a vehicle to get around. H-twn is a great place for young families. A great place for Singles and entrepreneurs. Hope this helps. Research,research, research...

I am from "H" town and your video is six months old as of this writing. If you have not heard, one of the best chicken places is Frenchey's. The owner was originally from Louisiana. Great food. Also, Houston has a wide variety of restaurants for soul food to Thai and everything in between.

Hey girl! Welcome! Very surprised by some of the things you have commented on, given my life experience here and my visits to the Miami area. I've lived in Houston for just about the entirety of my 23 years, and I'd recommend Escalantes for Tex Mex, Picos for straight up Mex, and Goode Company for BBQ (though I'm actually a vegetarian, that place gets raving reviews)! Glad you haven't let some of the cons (such as flash flooding and annoying slow people) cloud your vision of the great perks of living here! I think you'd like seeing 2 of my flood videos (I think they may have happened right before you moved here) to truly drive home that point you made. (They are called "I Went Into The Flood" and "Trash Can Rescue Mission".) But no pressure! Glad you posted this video about your first impressions of Houston! :)

I'm from south FL too but been in Houston for 6yrs. We drive slow because of all the damn potholes and shit on the highways lol. Seems like every month I get a tire blowout. FL is known to have the best roads in the country.

The food in Houston is very diverse despite having a lot of Tex-mex. Finding good chicken In the H should NOT be hard at all. Hopefully, you’re still loving it down here.

People in Houston can’t drive lol theres so much traffic because people will stay at green lights instead of driving. People will cut you off and if you honk they flip you off. If I wasn’t careful someone would’ve hit me already. Driving here gives me so much road rage lol

I live in houston if you hate highways or don't want drive highway you can use Serface drive or inner drive which is Pallalel to h9ghways many miles .I go to work by inner drive s v comfort These streets goes many miles long Bissonet Hillxroft Beechnur Wilcrest Kirchwood These few streets can driven to your destination v comfort.

Houston native here.. I think the area of Houston that you live in determines the diversity of food places around you. But generally, the best places to eat and the diversity of cultural food choices are within the inner loop (610). Glad you love it here! Also, the road rage is here, FOR REAL. But I'm glad you haven't experienced it. Or maybe our road rage is just not as bad as Miami. Lol

Houston native only two things I disagree with is road rage there's definitely a road rage problem here it's dangerous and deadly at times also people are not so friendly here. on second theres friendly faces next thing you know people are quick to throw a punch or shoot a gun at you over the smallest things.
