@jtmmmm27 I mean...that's how sports work? Teams that have better players that can take advantage of the rules have an advantage. When the NFL changed the force out catch rule, it gave teams an advantage if they had better DBs.
God I haven't been so hyped for a Texans season in a hot minute. I fully expect an AFC Conference appearance at least.... and I'm mentally prepping for pain if they regress. But in Stroud We Trust
As a chief fan, I don't think they're regressing. They will be better with a harder schedule and even out. It's all about the playoffs for them. (Barring injury)
I dont know why People have such high expectations for a team that made the playoffs cause a dropped pass from a wide open RB and had a last place schedule. So far every time a afc south team that gets a first place schedule ends up looking worse than they did the previous year. That said I don’t think the Texans will regress but I don’t think they will be what everyone is hoping or saying will be. Worst case is barley missing they playoffs.
Regarding the new kickoff rules. One way to reduce the number of touchbacks is to simply move the kickoff back to the 30 yard line which it was from 1994 to 2010 from the 35. They didn’t have to make all these complicated rule changes. And also, I agree with Chris, there should be one point if the kicker on the kickoff kicks the ball through the goalposts. And the receiving team, would get the ball on the 25 yard line as is now the case. Also, regarding onside kicks, make the rules what they were 10 years ago. So that the kicking team would have a better chance to recover the ball. And regarding the third quarterback rule. Why in the hell is there a third quarterback rule? a team should be able to dress as many quarterbacks as they want within the game roster limit of 47 of course. And use them anyway they feel like. Once again over complicating the extremely simple.
@@Zdub212 Plus, dome teams would probably get an unfair advantage, as would the Broncos. No wonder the rule proposal was never really seriously considered, as far as can be known.
@@RedMage117 Why, do you exppect teams to pitch rule proposals that are not advanageous to them? Why would they do that? ;) (Also, by Tucker's own admission, his home stadium is one of the hardest ones to kinck in, because of the wind - and the steelers stadium, another one he kicks in every year, is one of the hardest too... So there... ;) )
Vegas currently has bears slightly more likely to make playoffs than Texans to win AFC South. Both around 50-50, slightly less. I'd like to see both happen. Jags and colts split other half of the AFC south probability pie.
I've been saying it since the start, a touchback on the 30 isn't a big enough penalty if kickoffs increase their rate of big returns/TDs. We'll just have the same situation but with bigger touchbacks :/
@@jtmmmm27 I mean most people don't plant hard and throw a ball for a living, so it's not the same, but I hope it's not a big deal. I'm not a Chargers fan but Herbert could use some good news
Lions fan here. Man I'd be just as fired up if I was a Texans fan. Which I am, but the Lions come first lol. Also, Jaymo is going to have a better season than Pickens and I love George. Pickens is an X receiver and that's his strength. Jaymo has more versatility.
The new rule is ridiculous. Average returns will be equivalent to a touchback but with more injuries. Would have rather have had them just adopt the same post safety KO rule.
Here’s another what’s more likely scenario: Which opening day starting QB is more likely to be the first one benched for a non-rookie?? Russell Wilson or Daniel Jones ?
Everybody just forgetting the 2023 Jags had just come off a division title, a playoff win and were 8-3 before Trevor got hurt. HOU is going to get a huge reality check
Nobody is forgetting anything, it's just that there's nothing to remember about the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence isn't that dude, he's peaked. Of all of the reality checks that could happen in the NFL this season, one of the surest is all of Duval County realizing you're not going to win anything with Trevor Lawrence.
I'm not a fan of the kickoff personally, cuz they just wanna see more scoring and this can really open the door for house calls, and we shouldn't just be looking to run the score to 50 points a team. No. I think this is a slippery slope that we could see some crazy stuff come from soon.
You’re going to see Drake Maye Week 3 Thursday night football when the Jets are up late into the game they injure Jacoby and the cycle continues with Maye coming into the game and becoming a all time great. NFL couldn’t write it better😂
When it comes to the Bears, Rich is always dogging them. Bears have a way higher chance to make playoffs then Texans winning their division. Bears have an easier schedule, and have added a ton of weapons.
Honestly.... If the average starting position is the same then please bring back the old kickoff rules. I know it's safer for players the current way but the kickoff was fucking boring last night. Flat out sucked.
Who's more likely to have a breakout season ... the guy who has gained 395 yards in his 2 year career or the guy who already broke out with 1150 yards last year? wtf kind of stupid question is this.... eisen show is falling off with this drivel
@@djcook honestly shouldn't even be comparing the two, Williams has been a straight up waste of a pick at this point. Pickens has put up a respectable rookie year and 2nd season.
Rich Esien must love this time of year…. Unlimited PTO. Can work from home whenever he chooses. Can have a drink while doing the show. lol AND still gets paid…. Well done rich 🫡
