We used to have 3 Chevelles back 18 years ago, 2 parts cars and one rust free redone roller. At the time they were only worth a fraction of what they sell for now, we sold all three as a bundle for 4k CAD. Last I checked 1$ CAD was around .8 of a US dollar.

Yes that’s right 20% 30% deference In $ but wish I had those 3 cars you had lol

Also I know he bought this car 2 years ago he paid more than y’all sold all 3 of y’all’s for and it needed floors and truck work as well as a naked rolling frame and body no motor trans wiring harness brake lines anything I thought it was a bit crazy

My first muscle car was a 71 nova 350/4 speed primered running driving car for 500 in 94. I had boomers stop me on the road asking if I wanted to buy there old car for cheap but at that time the old guys with money wanted 50s models cars and were paying big bucks for them. Now 50s models pricing has dropped big time .

I've got a 71....I used Doug's is swap headers because I the o2 sensors screwed into the side of the collector instead of on top....and they have v band collector flanges.....for my fuel system I bought a new zero motive fuel tank with built in sending unit and pump that will support up to 600hp before I need to upgrade to a better pump. I used a 2006 4l60e with a summit pro is 2400 stall...built my own cross member and reset my pinion angle....my motor is a used lq4 that I stripped down to the long block....and installed fresh set of rebuild 243 heads with new valves and ls6 springs ....new ls7 lifters and trays..summit pro is stage 3 cam..36 pound flex fuel injectors on a tbss intake with a 92 km throttle body...and a aftermarket accessory bracket set up.....and I built a new 12 bolt rear I scavenged out of a 70 Monte carlo...I used a Detroit try Trac posi unit with Moser axels all new bearings and shims and a motive gear 4:11 ring and pinion....now I'm working on my body work and paint...still need to make up my mind on a shifter....I updated the factory harness to a modernized harness from painless wiring...rebuilt my heater box....covered my inner firewall and fllorboards and door panels in dynamat and dynamat pad....and a new inner firewall insulation mate....still need a Dakota dash kit and trying to make my mind up if I want to keep the front bench or go with buckets. I've had this chevelle for 20 years its my second time restoring it....I've had five chevelles s and this is my third time restoring one....if I've got any advice for someone Restoring one....insulation insulation insulation....replace all the weather stripping and rubbers stops....use a paint seal kit and either replace all the factory insulation with new....but its better to use a combination of new factory insulation and aftermarket insulation....and don't skimp on insulating the inner firewall....good insulation makes all the difference in the world and when determine whether your car is a noisy rattle trap inside....or a well insulated machine that's quiet in the cabin and loud out side....I've got a ful flow master 3 inch exhaust system from the collectors to underneath the rear bumper with good welds and no leaks so all my engine noise is behind me....windows up or down you can hold a conversation at a normal volume with out yelling because the cabin is quiet inside and well insulated so none of the engine or road noise makes it into the cabin....take my advice ....I've had five chevelles...built all five and restore two of them three times...and a few others for friends and cutomers....trust me....I speak from experience.

Ok got to start with with is a long comment lol ok this car is a friend of mines I have just done what I have been asked to so far. I am working on a 71 wagon for my wife and you are definitely correct about insulation I have bought three boxes of either kilts or Dyna mat still need to buy factory firewall insulation but I need to finish up floors first. As I said I definitely agree insulation makes probably the biggest difference in the whole car also that is a good sounding build up

Doing an ls swap on my 70 chevelle. All fbody sensors/accessory, this harness from Ebay, where did you get a chance to mount the computer at ? Engine bay, inside the car? By where. Iam trying to get an idea of how clean it will be and get some ideas to route it. Thanks again for any help. Love your videos!
@blindguysgarage
@blindguysgarage Год назад
I will start by saying thank you very much I mounted the ECU on top of the glove box as for the harness the one I used on the car is setup for all f body sensors I will tell you I Learned the hard way make sure your tuner knows if you are using the F body mass air flow or truck mass air flow as the are diferant and read differently in the computer the truck MAF is bigger and has the IAT integrated into it I actually like it better personally but the harness I used was setup for f body MAF ans IAT that are separate you can’t buy the harness either way just something to keep in mind

I did you cut a hole in the firewall to get wires through? Or used heater box hole? I eventually going to go vintage air, so want to see if going this route I'll be ok in the future being out of the way for vintage air.

are you sure the hood isnt hitting the intake? Ive seen where people need to notch the hood?
@blindguysgarage
@blindguysgarage 2 года назад
Yes I am sure when not bolted to the hinges the hood lays nice and flat also fender on driver side is so far ahead it causes the hood corner on passenger side to touch fender. Fender is ahead because the drivers door has a bad spot on edge causing it to catch fender

Did you need a different drive shaft?
@blindguysgarage
@blindguysgarage 2 года назад
The driveshaft is all dependent on what trans you run in the car I think I added this in the description but if not I will. This car had not driveshaft so we took one out of a Lakers model van and had it shortened by driveshaft shop
@blindguysgarage
@blindguysgarage 2 года назад
If your car is a th350.Car and you reuse the trans then no driveshaft changes need if going to a 700r4 or 4l60e then the driveshaft will need to be shortened about 4ins
