The Web is becoming more capable of signing up and signing in users securely and seamlessly. In this talk we'll describe an effective way for users to sign up to your website, and sign back in more easily and safely using second factor leveraging SMS or biometric information. We'll also cover how these methods work in the real world.

Very bad practice to rely on phone numbers for sign in feature as long as it is necessary to change SIM-cards while in foreign countries. Additionally, such SIM-cards are data only, no sms send/receive possible.

Yes, my wife had a bad experience about it where she enabled 2-Step Verification for her gmail as google recommends it for additional security, one day she lost her phone together with the sim card associated with her google account now she can no longer login to her gmail despite the fact that she can still remember both her email and password, we even tried using account recovery even attaching the scanned copy of police report we had when she lost her phone but still no luck.
