Baby will is growing so fast and he's such a perfect blend of you both. I've got 6 children they're older now but you can never baby proof enough so when baby starts to move anything with a corner coffee tables in tables counters toilet locks cabinet locks the knick knacks on your tables they stuff you can put under so it won't move if he grabs it anything heavy dressers things like that bolt them to your walls more kids get hurt pulling up on them then you could imagine electric cords and things like that they make boxes to put them in hope this helps. My heart goes out to each and every single person that's been affected by these hurricanes that has taken people's life and loved ones and just every single thing that they've worked for to be taken away from them in a matter of hours you're all in my continued thoughts and prayers as you all pick up the pieces and process everything and thank you to all the 1st responders search and rescue and just every day people who are trying to help these people with food gas generators and so much more thank you all so much ❤
One big piece of baby proofing advice that I would stress as HIGHLY IMPORTANT...Be sure to secure/anchor to the wall any heavy shelving or furniture that can be pulled over on top of a small toddler. I know baby Will is too small to climb right now, but when he gets to that stage of his life, you can't be too careful. Very heavy furniture can result in very tragic injuries (or worse). Sadly, I have a friend who learned that the hard way. It's one of those things that a lot of people don't think about being a danger.
The grandparents have had 21 children between them and have about 32 grandkids, think they might just know a bit about childproofing and many of the different personalities as far as how curious and adventurous some kids can be compared to others. They’ve got more experience than just about anyone, anywhere, literally.
I comment regularly on The Stew Crews channel about this enormous mirror they have by a side wall. Is it attached to the wall? It could easily fall onto a child if not 🙈
My suggestion for anyone living in the south…if the budget allows for extension of your roof, add a screen porch over a concrete slab/patio. It’s like upgrading your toilet worth the money up front. Plus it takes care of the misquotes.
@@pamjohns1520 H A T E mosquitoes! They wait patiently at our doors to fly in, & have me for dinner! And down here in GA…..some of ‘em are big enough to saddle up & ride, Clyde! 😫🦟
For mosquitos, get a jar of instant coffee pour or shake the coffee in the areas where you sit outside. You can take a jar or other container and set it on your picnic table etc. Also citronella candles help. Or a bug zapper.
One thing I’ll say about childproofing is that it is important to secure bookshelves and dressers and such to the wall but it is equally important to teach kids about safety. I told my kids early that you never climb on anything in the house. If you can’t reach something, ask for help, you only climb at the park. Also, don’t hide in toy boxes. You can do all the things but they might go somewhere that doesn’t have all the safety measures. If you taught your kid how to be safe it will be much better.
God Bless you for helping the hurricane victims in NC. I saw a mother in NC who literally saw the water that was so high & so they got on their roof. The water washed her 7 yr old lil boy off the roof & she literally saw her lil boy get pulled under & drown. OMG I would not b the same the rest of my life. Prayers for this family & all the families affected by Helene🙏🏽
I have some baby advice. You should call Tiffany’s parents by the name that they want to be called as grandparents this way when the baby learns to talk he’s not calling them by their first name.
Get toilet locks for the toilet lids. I had a child that loved to crawl to the toilet and throw things in, anything he could get his hands on, and he also learned to pull up and use the flush handle. I was so afraid he would fall head first into the toilet so we got them and then that stopped things in the toilet and the fear of him falling in. We also did drawer and cabinet doors too as well as all outlets. Also secure all your book cases and dressers to the wall. Our toilet flusher also used to pull draws out and climb the dressers. He kept me on my toes. Had two other kiddos and they didn't get into stuff at all. :). Don't lose that magnet!! 🤣 Will is adorable! He is changing so quickly. 💙
Putting rubber bumpers on the bottom of the chairs too, our littles walked super early! They kept me runnin’, with the bumpers , the chairs wouldn’t silently slide across the floor, they made sound in case they were into something they shouldn’t have been. Watch him around floor registers, little fingers like to throw things down there, like cheerios or goldfish crackers or even dog food. Baby gates at stairs. We also had to put one in our oldest son’s bedroom, he was a sleep walker and had night terrors. If you have a fireplace, watch for sharp edges on it, including the hearth. Doors, kids love to open and close doors especially when they first realize that they can. Cut up some pool noodle into 10” pieces, then slice lengthwise only through one side, now using the sliced open area of noodle, slide that over the edge of the door either at top or upper aspect of door so that it won’t close fully on any little fingers. Also may have to do this to bifold closet doors too. Figure out how to pick the lock or somehow unlock and open the bathroom door in case they somehow manage to lock themselves in, and at least one child will do it. Once Will is big enough, you may want to ensure your front and back doors have a double lock on them. For example, one in doorknob and a deadbolt. I ran an in home daycare while I was raising our three children, one of my daycare kids let a stranger in the house one day. I had ordered pizza for kids as treat, so I was expecting pizza delivery, however from that day on, the doors were double locked as a safety measure because the same child tried to leave the house without permission. My priority was keeping those precious littles safe and feeling loved while in my care. Hope some of that helps. If Will walks early, just holler as I have a lot of experience with that too🤦🏻♀️😂Oldest held head up by himself literally at birth, and stood by himself at 5 mos, walked at 6 mos , running at 7 mos and stairs independently at 9 mos. It was bedlam! Number 2 was same way. Good luck Momma and Daddy!👶🏻👟
I’d never have left my child out of sight for long enough to fall head first into the toilet? We kept all doors closed anyway. Most kids can’t open doors while they’re young enough to be in danger unattended in the toilet or bathroom. It’s just the last place you leave accessible to a baby in the first place. You can put cabin hooks on some doors for extra safety if you’re that worried but supervising properly saves all that.
Little William Is Growing So Fast❤ But Just A Suggestion Keeping The Room Darker Will Help Him Sleep Longer & Then When It's Daylight Making It Brighter Will Help Him Wake up 😊 And Much Later When Little William Starts Walking You'll Want To Put Locks On Your Front & Back Door High Enough So He Can't Reach Them To Get Out By Himself. Also Wants He's Sleeping In His Own Room You'll Want To Make Sure He Has Nothing In His Crib That He Can Stand On To Get Out By Himself ❤😊
Baby will is adorable. Don't wait till he rolls before you don't leave him on the couch , if he's attempting it just now, you never know when the first time he will be , so safer not to leave him there any more .
Yeah, true. When she was 1 year, little Stella Beeston fell over the arm of their sofa when Dad stepped down the hall to check on their toddler for literally 20 seconds. Stella snapped her forearm bones right in two! He heard the thud and he ran to get her, but she didn’t seem upset or hurt. She barely complained about her arm so they didn’t realize for several days! They eventually took her in just because she was avoiding using that hand and they thought she sprained her wrist. The X-ray showed a clean break across both bones! Will might have a high pain tolerance same as Stella, you never know. You also can’t watch kids every single second. The best you can do is keep up the baby proofing, and try to think ahead and use common sense.
Will is so adorable. The only thing that I would say is be careful of him lying down on the couch. My son turned over at 9 days old but of course he didn’t do it again for months. No he didn’t fall off but it taught me how you never know what a baby will and can do. Tiffany your parents are so sweet. God bless you all.
Just remember everything he gets his hands on will go into his mouth! Crawl around on the floor on his level. Once he takes off, his curiosity will be off the charts. ❤️
At some point you'll need to anchor dressers and or shelves to the walls. When he starts walking, he'll be pulling himself on by hold on to them. It's a great safety idea to keep from a shelf unit or dresser falling on your precious baby.
Never anchored a piece of furniture in my life, just supervised my 6 children and used common sense, kept all room doors closed except the one we were in was much easier. Never had an accident, never had any of them pull something on top of themselves. That said, some of them had other types of accidents not necessarily at home or related to furniture, it happens, it can’t a.ways be avoided.
You guys are doing great as new parents. My advice is to just take a deep breath and relax. My generation along wirh many others were raised in non baby proof homes. I am not saying don't baby proof. Be smart, but also learn to just relax, trust God, and enjoy these little years. They are fleeting. Take a deep breath, and enjoy. Thank you, Tiffany, for your message of faith at the end. God bless!!
If you’re openly asking for advice… 1. Try to change the way you hold his neck. If you’re always holding it in that manner, he can’t strengthen it. 2. Don’t feel like you have to remove every decorative thing in the house. Don’t you feel it’s better to teach him NO?
Baby proofing is good. But teaching them what they can touch and not touch (ie decorations) is good too. This will make the children welcomed at other friends houses. We did this with our daughter. We taught them it was ok to look but not touch. When they looked at something, they stood with their hands being their backs. My MIL tried to put up everything in her house. We told her to stop. We walked our daughters around the breakables and say, "Look don't touch." Their hands went straight behind their backs.
I agree. Baby proofing can be so dangerous because the parents don't teach. So when they go somewhere that isn't baby proofed they don't know boundaries. I much prefer parents to teach over baby proofing
That’s very outdated learning, children learn discernment by experiencing things. It’s not “do or don’t” We take care of safety first which means moving things or putting things away at times. When visiting others I am confident enough to politely ask may I put something up as would rather everyone be relaxed and enjoy the time together than constantly be on a small child’s back telling them “look but dont touch” all the time. I would absolutely hate a visit like that whether I’m the host or the guest. Most people I know are understanding and do it before we even get there & replace things with what they can happily explore.
@@sharonhoward884 so what happens in that child's life when you are not there to remove the danger. I'm sorry but kids don't learn by experiencing. A kid doesn't need to get hit by a car to learn. I've never seen an alcoholic or druggie learn to say no by experiencing it. It would have actually been better for them to not experience it. It's lazy parenting to not teach your child. Yes when your kids are little it is hard work to teach them. But they are smart and they learn quickly. This generation wants easy, lazy parenting but they are making it harder on themselves in the long run. Parenting isn't about having a relaxing visit at the expense of your child. Nothing better than a parent who cares enough to teach their child and invest in their child
As you’re showing all the virtues of your new master bathroom toilet, I can imagine Will walking into your bathroom and the toilet automatically opens for him to play in. 😅
Even though you should child proof your house, you can a)divert your child by keeping a basket of toys in each room for them to play with. Stickers are really helpful and b) teaching them not to touch specific items right from the start. Also, baby barriers help a lot too. And finally, you have to have your eyes on your child at all times .😂😂😂😂
Little Will is absolutely adorable!!! He is a good mix of both of you! Thanks, Lawson, for your work in helping the hurricane victims. We pray for them as they are trying to recover. Love to your family! 💕
William has filled out and looks a contented baby, He has your eyes and hair Tiffany but his lower half of face is all Bates. He resembles Judd and Jed and all the male Bates. It is a strong family gene, though the Asian Heritage will always come through. You are doing a great job as parents.
That is a great idea. Home depot stores all of your paint info in their computer system as well. They can look it up with your phone number. I'm not sure about Lowes.
Lawson, Tiff and baby Will, y'all are such an adorable family. I love it! God bless all those effected by the hurricane's. Our continued prayers are with you and for you❤❤ We love them very much!!!
Not now, but you probably would want to have a sandbox. As far as baby proofing, I would put the cleaners up and not under a sink, even with a lock. I kept all cleaners and meds up high when my kids were small.
Baby Will is adorable!! He has Tiffany’s eyes, hair, complexion but Lawson’s shape face! The perfect mixture!! He is sooooi stinking cute and I would definitely be his friend!❤️❤️
Thanks for the update. I miss y’all when you don’t do videos. Will is adorable and he looks just like Tiffany. Lawson you are to be commended for the work did after the hurricanes. I know all the people you helped were very appreciative.
Lawson, Lawson....as you get older, the most important thing about getting a new toilet is getting a tall one! It is very difficult to get down low. Since Tiff is small, maybe you will need two different sizes for your Master.😮Old age comes as fast as a newborn grows! The best thing i notice about your new toilet is the lighting...again would be e very welcome as one ages.(I'm close to age 80)! -For baby proofing...i suggest no coffee table in front of couch. Especially one with corners. -Other wisdom from this "Gran".... -Definitely show that child you love him everyday! -Declutter through life so you don't end up renting some storage unit.
They shouldn’t be giving the distant future a single thought, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed let alone the next few decades. Being present and in the moment is what matters. We clutter our minds with too many unnecessary things instead of focusing on the here and now.
One tip put a jar on the counter empty your change in the jar make sure there is no change on the floor, I had three kids my two older boys were excited to take some of their money to the store , I did not know they dropped Pennie’s, our daughter was crawling at that time I let her down and went to go do dish’s , I hear gagging, ai ran to her in the hallway she was choking I did the he Heimlich maneuver for a baby, I was. So scared, it came out and I held her as we both cried!!!
My family in North Carolina has lost homes and animals and the neighbors too. Still finding the people that didn’t make it out alive is so sad. Please donate to help the states that need food and water or shelter if you can help
Our church in Michigan is taking a donation and gathering supplies to take to 2 churches in North Carolina. I have been praying several times a day for them. Very dire circumstances that they are all facing. I cannot fathom it all!
😢 So Sorry. Been in that situation many times as I live in Katy/ Houston TX. And we've had our experiences with hurricanes, tornados, flooding and now days Busted Pipes when it freezez and Electric going out. So Sorry about N.C. and other States as well.
I Love watching Your Videos and seeing how You All are doing... Thank You Lawson for Helping those in need in North Carolina. God Bless All 4 of You Always... Jesus and I Love You very much ❤❤️❤️ 🐕. P.S. Your Pictures look so Beautiful 😊
Child proofing your house is good, especially the cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom especially if you have cleaning supplies under the sink’s. It’s okay to let them play in a cabinet that they can’t get hurt in . And you really don’t have to take things off the shelves just let Will know that he doesn’t need to touch them. Put him a shelf if you have room for one with toys and books on it just for him and let him know that this is his own shelf that he can take things off of.
Little Will is growing so fast and he is adorable. I love his little hair fluff, so cute. Tiff you have just blossomed with motherhood, you are beautiful on the inside and out. Lawson your joy is infectious. May God bless your sweet little family.❤
Glad to see you posting again. Will is getting so big. 😀 Childproofing tips: Locks/latches on kitchen drawers/cabinets, Knob covers on stove knobs, some kind of lock for your dishwasher, toilet lid lock, locks on bathroom cabinets and drawers, outlet covers, child proof locks and alarms for entry doors, don't put anything with cords or strings near his crib, no pictures or wall hangings near the crib, when he starts pulling himself up in the crib or sitting up lower the crib mattress, if you have blinds with cords shorten the cords (I don't think they make them that way anymore) If you have a gate for your backyard fence put a lock on that, baby gate for any room you want to keep him out of, anything that can be pulled down on his head remove (once he starts standing) FYI I don't know if Lowes does this but Home Depot stores the info of your paint colors in their computer system. So when you go in you just give them your phone number and they have a list of all of your paint colors. I would definitely wait until just before his first birthday to cut his hair. You guys are doing great! 😀
I shaved all my twins hair and their hair just grew out so much & fast! By the time they were one they had so much hair it was perfect for the iconic mushroom hair cut of the mid 90’s.
They’ve got ages to worry about that and it’s not like they are going to leave him unattended even when he is starting to become mobile. It’s an easy fix, just remove it till he’s older. No need for drilling holes all over the walls.
Easy way to child proof under your kitchen sink is to remove everything and use it for baking sheets, pots and pans or whatever. Please keep all poisons out of reach in cabinet with a lock.
I have those same locks I love them. Everyone else that comes to our house hates them. But I love them! It does come with a guider piece in the box to help install them right. Actually my 9 year old installed most of ours
Leave room for babies to run and play in the backyard! All your ideas sound like they will look absolutely great look forward to seeing the progress over time!
Lawson is getting better with holding baby Will. He only held him by the neck one time lol. I guess all those other comments made him more aware. He does look like Lawson's baby pictures but with Tiffany's eyes. He's so adorable and enjoy watching his progress. God bless
Tiffany. On your back yard oasis you can strategically place bug zappers and citronella candles/ lights to help in the elimination of mosquitoes and bugs.
Locks for toilets and when hes a little older possibly the fridge (my second was the one that almost had us get one for the fridge). Also depending on your stove knobs, like if they are lower in the front of the stove. Then for outside maybe a sand box next year
Bats love mosquitoes!!! We have 3 bat houses & what a difference; one would be just fine! They are mounted high up on trees & facing South (to warm their houses during the day). Just as we read about, they didn't come at 1st for awhile, but eventually found & trusted their new housing.😊
Awww bubba so cute and growing. To baby proof your house. Have some of his toys around so he knows he allowed to touch them. Put power point plugs on power points. In every room Get a baby gate if you want in him in one room so that way most of house is blocked. Close bathroom doors and laundry doors. Kitchen put locks on the cupbords. Alow one cupboard free so he can play with baking tins and contianers. When cooking put him in a highchair or walker so not under ypur feet espec round the stove/oven area. Outside build a deck so you can entertain, amd bbq. Swing set and Sandpit put it in a tent s its shady, stays dry n keeps un wanted bugs out n other animals so its not dirty. The tent keeps the sandpit clean.
