Biased. TGH gets 36 MPG *and is BUILT IN THE USA,* no mention of the multiple engine choices (including a very sporty MAX hybrid that runs 6.2 seconds 0-60), has the best more spacious 3rd row, kids can just climb in and go into the 3rd row between the captain seats, has the most space behind the 3rd row, when seats are all folded flat it has the most cargo space, and has the best proven longevity and problem-free record. Why so biased and missing so much?? Other head-to-head comparison videos clearly pick the TGH as a better buy.
If you had tested the Palisade Calligraphy sans the black edition., the pricing would have been about the same as the rest of the cars. Also, If you had tested the Pilot Elite, the pricing would have been higher. Palisade wins every time. That is why we own one.

@@CarscomThis makes no sense for a car review channel: reviewing the cars is your job. Besides, if you found it to be a leading choice, you might even have the effect of boosting the sales numbers.
I work at Enterprise, and I absolutely love the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade, and I don't seem to be the only one. I truly believe that the Palisade and Telluride are the best three row SUVs you can get on the market.
Mazda CX-90 Turbo Premium Plus should have been in this review despite what you said about it not having enough sales. It definitely has the gas mileage and driving engagement that the Ascent lacks plus it also has a luxurious interior.
Absolute nonsense, MISLEADING VW is the LEAST reliable, with the WORST owners ratings! Also it only gets a "MARGINAL" rating in IIHS front crash backseat safety test. The 2.0 engine is undersized (wear&tear), it is the 2nd most expensive vehicle in this test, high deepreciation, worst user interface, loudest, etc... Also there are dozens of other reviews of Atlas and I never saw anyone else praise its handling the way you did... You gave it 18 points less for the huge difference in fuel economy and then give it the same 18 points more for child-safety seats, makes no sense...
Why do screens need to be so huge in order to be considered relevant? I was born in '75, and we all got by just fine with zero screens for decades, but now a 14" screen is too small. I dont understand. Plus, I was an Uber driver for a few years, and the map on my smartphone was more than sufficient to get me where I needed to go.
My 2015 was literally a non issue about to buy the new elite but debating between that and the new grand highlander. But leaning toward the pilot because I love the previous one.
Spot on review. Two weeks in with my new Palisade calligraphy. Couldn’t be happier with the car. Coming from a Pilot 2019… it’s miles better than the Honda.
The Grand Highlander has $8K+ minimum mark ups here in Southern California. Ended up getting the Palisade AWD. Love the V6 smooth engine and overall comfort. Plenty of space for my toddlers and my husband's 6"5 height.
@@wjoseph-rx9mj I regret not getting the Palisade sooner, if you never driven one I suggest not to opine either. If you have, not sure where your logic lies overpaying a toyota by more than $10K+ mark up for a 4 cylinder 3row toyota? For the record, I used to own Tundra truck and a Sienna, toyota makes great cars, but overhyped, overpriced, not worth shelling out $10k+ for a similar car.

@@Carscom Your company's focus is pretty lame. Punish a great but lesser known vehicle by not letting the general public know just how good the CX-90 is.
CX90 was the car we wanted but after test driving it we didn’t like the seats. They are way too short. Plus the interior was basic and the 3.3 turbo was underwhelming.
I've had a Subaru Ascent for 6 years - leased two of them - and I strongly disagree with the reviewers take. It's not too small at all - it's a great size. I have a family of 5 and most people with a three row SUV are putting kids in the third row - it doesn't have to comfortably seat adults, especially not 6 foot tall men. And the first and second rows are plenty comfortable for adults. No way this should rank behind the Pathfinder and Pilot!
I agree, the Chevrolet Traverse smokes every one of these vehicles. Since, the ("all new") Traverse was just released they left it out. That is not Farr, because in actual sales numbers the new Travers is smoking the competition, and GM is now not releasing monthly sales numbers there releasing them (quaterly)...
Just drove the Traverse for a rental. Was not on my list before for a new purchase. Now on the list. Spacious and heavy feels like driving a land rover in terms of how vehicle weight. It feels like won’t roll over on me. Drive years ago when came out and light years improvement in drive.
Most of the 'dislike" area of the Palisade was fixed in the Santa FE such as wireless apple carplay, Turbo V4, New infotainment system (CCNC)...etc. The new Palisade will destroy the competition.
I seen what you are referring too with the DCT and the issue was a computer issue with a simple software update to fix it, most cars when the new model year rolls out need to have the kinks worked out, just wait for the 2025 santa fe and onward. Most, if not all, problems will be solved just like any other brand. @Whiteknight0721
I’m driving the Pathfinder. I don’t care about the screen looking dated. The map works, apple car play works fine. Also, can get the bench for the second row, hard to find on top trims. PS the Palisade mirrors are really wide, they don’t power fold either. I couldn’t get it into my garage.
I love the guy saying he couldn’t figure out how to increase the volume on the Atlas. Step one: place finger on volume control on driving wheel. Press up or down. No step two needed for reaching for the multimedia interface.
For this comparison test, we invited popular three-row crossover SUVs from mainstream brands. The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse was not available to consider at the time of our testing.
The VW atlas has always been a solid choice it was its interior in the past that held it back some but they’ve fixed that aside from the tech it’s a bit complicated but works fine once you understand it so as long as you keep proper maintenance and use oem replacement parts only you should be ok after the warranty don’t believe the hype online 💯
If you have to say it's a bit complicated, it's a serious problem for the average buyer. Last thing they want is to feel like it's an old VCR that they have to take a class on using. A simpler UI would make it a much more attractive option
The Pilot is one Accord-infotainment screen away from greatness 😅 Would honestly pick the Honda over the Kia/Hyundai and most especially the VW. Prefer the Nissan over the VW too.
I really like that Honda gives you the ability to get three passengers in the second row in top trims. Captains chairs are a giant no-go for my family of five for the times when we need to maximize cargo while everyone coming along. That removable middle seat set up is so much more useful. That more than makes up for things like a smaller screen.
This is exactly how I feel. Yes my 3 kids don’t always want to seat together, but when we need to maximize cargo space I don’t want to have to choose between cargo and a kid 😄. Say a a large Costco run, a trip to the airport, or trip to Homegooods, you want to still be able to carry all your kids and cargo. Wish more manufacturers made second row bench available in higher trims besides Pilot and Atlas.

$55,000 for a Hyundai???? The world is definitely changing! You could buy a chevy tahoe for that amount of money. Or even a Mercedes-Benz. But the palisade was probably my favorite aswell. Probably worth more like $40,000 or 39k in my book.
Well you said that you couldn’t have them all of them there but it’s not like you haven’t driven them before so it would seem that you could mention where you think they would sit in your line up if you had them.
The Telluride is the best one hands down. I like the interior and exterior design much better plus the ride in the Telluride is superior to the Palisade according to reviewers (quieter interior). The GH looks very cheap and bland interior wise and the only power train which I’m more interested in is the Hybrid Max and that is more than $60k which puts it at close to $10k grand more than the Telluride. One thing I really like about the GH that I would like the Telluride to implement on their redesign is a panoroof.
Bruh, imagine making such a big deal out of multimedia screens. As fast as I'm concerned, that's not even part of the car. Power train, cabin comfort, space, and reliability is way more important.
Huh? You're constantly interacting with the screens. If it sucks, it's a pain every time you get into the car. Are you really commenting without having ever owned a modern car? Lol
We wanted a Palisade Calligraphy in 2021, but the prices were ridiculously inflated back then. So we sprung for an Audi Q7. Now we are considering a step back for our next vehicle. The Atlas MMI looks like absolute trash compared to our current setup. There’s really nothing out there that really strikes us in the 47 to 55 K price range. We might even just downsize to a Q3 just to keep the same level of quality that we’re used to.
We just bought a 2024 atlas. Tested the others and pucked this for comfort and size. Mazda cx 70 or 90 were our second picks. But atlas won us over ... esp since its engine is gti inspired ! I love golfs.
When u guys do these comparisons, u guys should take into account the reliability of these vehicles. That's something that gets overlooked in a lot of these comparisons. VW would've been in last place if that was the case lol. Or the Korean cars 😂
@@JohnLee-tb3nhWarranty length does not equal reliability. Reliability = how seldom / frequently things go wrong i.e. can one rely on the car to do what it’s supposed to whenever you need it to? Warranty length = until when the dealer will repair the stuff that goes wrong, for free. If Toyota dropped their warranty down to 6 months, the car would still be the most reliable one to own. Conversely, just because a Hyundai has 10-year warranty it says nothing about how often things go wrong with it and needs to visit the dealer over those 10 years. There have been horrific stories about Genesis (luxury Hyundai) owners not being able to get warranty repair appointments from the dealer.
I wish you would have had an ("American") auto manufacturer in this test. The lack of that, makes me feel that this test is not (all things being "equal")!!! Please next time please be considerate to ("all") manufacturers, who have nicer vehicles than, what was tested and in the same price range and comps.
Not really. Most publishers listed mazda cx90 in the middle not the best. These guys are going by sales and popularity. One big mistake mazda made was the price on the cx90. They ended up slashing the prices $5000 but it was already too late. Next time though!
Good test. They are probably all very good SUVs. We are a family of 5 and bought our second Atlas last year. We like the space and safety in this vehicle and it was the least expensive in our area. You can control the radio with buttons on your steering wheel. The first Atlas didn't give us any issues driving it daily and on long distance trips for 7 years.
I find it very strange that many of the points you called out on the Hyundai the Kia actually has as well. Also, the SX Prestige costs significantly less than the Caligraphy so it is odd to see those two separated by two vehicles.
Toyota GH is my choice ....As for the others, fabric seats NO WAY! v6 are sluggy, heavy, the 4 Turbos are way better on road and VW? That's no family car but a cheap BMW future reliability. Honda is a close second but that mini rental car media screen....really?
This is absolutely ridiculous. You have obviously been paid by VW and Hyundai. There is no way you would ever pay your own money for either of those vehicles. Reliability must not have been one of your considerations based on your picks. Very sad, but I know not to waste any time watching any of your other videos.
@@JohnLee-tb3nh Sure. I also took them to court few years back because of their lack of reliability and the poor poor dealer experience. Ended up getting some $$ after replacing my transmission three times, engine harness twice and bunch of other stuff. On a
Thank you for a comprehensive review of these 3-row SUVs. I am surprised you rated the handling on the Pilot so low? I find the SH-AWD system on the Pilot the most engaging of these SUVS. The steering can be a bit numb, but that is mostly corrected in sport mode. Though I rarely find the need for sport mode. In my experience when you accelerate out of a corner in the other vehicles, you really feel their size and weight. Doing the same in the Pilot allows the torque vectoring AWS to really help manage the heft. I find it also makes a big difference on slick surfaces. The AWD performance on snow, especially when cornering, is a step above the other systems, in my opinion. Many other vehicle journalists have reported similar results. We just got back from a road trip from Denver to Duluth and back. We were very impressed overall with our 24 Pilot Elite. Our best highway mpg was 33, and our worst was 21.5. The best was with a tail wind most of the way on a two lane highway with the cruse set at 69. The worse was with a strong headwind, (Hello Wyoming) with the cruise set at 77. This was with four adults and all our luggage. We didn't expect to get that good of MPG. Especially considering its boxy shape. Maybe it was because I washed and waxed it right before we left. 😉 We now have about 7k trouble free miles. We hope she stays that way.
They never talk about ride quality, cost of ownership, mechanical specs etc. Those are the features I care about the most when you are spending 50k on a car.
Honorables mentions like the ford Explorer and Mazda cx90 and jeep grand Cherokee l and Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia and dodge Durango and Toyota 4Runner and if you’re in Australia there’s the Ford Everest and Isuzu mux and Mitsubishi Pajero sport and Toyota Fortuner and ssangyong Rexton and Hyundai Santa fe and kia Sorento and chery tiggo8 and ldv d90 and GWM tank 500 and Skoda Kodiaq and Peugeot 5008
The Toyota Grand Highlander is available as a hybrid. Saving gas in this day and age should be of major value. I didn't hear if the Palisade has an available hybrid engine. I will search to see.
The Honda hold 8 people, 2 adults in front, 2 teens and a baby car seat in second row and 3 small children in 3rd row. No other vehicle in this group holds 8 people, therefore the Honda win hands down if you have 8 in the family. It's a little tight but it will do. There's no point in going on a road trip if one person is left behind. I have 8 in my family, so the Pilot wins OR I just need to suck it up and go with a Mini-van.
Thank you for the review. I disagree with Atlas and Hyundai being on the top, but I also understand that this is just perspective from the three of you as you saw fit. We understand that no review would have 100% compliance with the viewers, so that's not an issue for me. We agree to disagree. But one thing we all can agree on is the multitude of choices available in this specific segment of vehicles.
In the world of voice controls, the Atlas does a good job offering an alternative to the touchscreen for climate and radio. "Hey Volkswagen" turn on ventilated seats....
There's been a lot of buzz around the Mazda CX-90, so I decided to check it out myself. However, I was surprised to find that the interior feels disappointingly cramped. The dashboard design seems overly compact, and the third-row seating is almost impractical-definitely not what I expected from an SUV in this class.
I would disagree with this ranking, Atlas should be the #1 winner, the fact that you guys gave it a second place below the Plisade because of the cabin noise actually surprises me, I test-drove both, the Atlas is far more premium, far more comfortable, and fun/easy to drive, with it's more powerful engine and low speed torque delivery it's very nimble, and guess what, Palisade was far more noisy on both wind noise and road noise, so either you are biased, or you got a faulty Atlas. Bottom line is, I'm waiting for my Atlas in 3 weeks time 😍 .
What is this obsession with “small screens?” How big do people want these screens to be, especially when you’re supposed to be looking at the road? Also, most people are probably just gonna pick up kids and go to Target in these vehicles anyway. How often are they actually gonna be looking at the screen, especially if there’s a head up display? 🤨
Bought a new 2024 Grand Highlander Limited AWD with all the bells & whistles for 3K below sticker. I traded in a 22 Sienna with 35K miles & hail damage, got just 5K less than what I paid. Tremendous resale value, legendary Toyota reliability-by far the best!!
I have a 2022 Highlander XLE for work and the CarPlay and screen response is painfully slow. It ruled out a new Highlander for me. Did they improve that in your car?
Im pretty sure Toyota owners can’t accept you put No.1 the Palisade…they keep of telling about reliability…but what happened to Toyota right now they have recalled some for engine/transmissions issues…
These guys seemed to downplay reliability and focus on interior and technology. I would not agree with most of these rankings. I would want to know where the mazda cx90 ranks.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse was not available to consider at the time of our testing, but we did recently publish a review that you can watch here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bf7eOYYDVBY.html
Forgot to mention the car seat friendly tilt in the Atlas and also the fact that you could get seconnd row bench in the top trim. What I did not like about the Palisade is that even it top trim it does not come with auto folding rear view mirrors and also the top trims do not come with a bench seat option.
I'd take the Pathfinder all day everyday, hope they update it especially the infotainment system, they could use the Rogue's new system with the VC Turbo Inline-4.
Great review. I have a Hyundai Palisade calligraphy night edition, it's nice. I believe the Atlas is solid #2 considering how the review went. I used to be high up on the Telluride but after I compared the two last year it was clear to me which one came out on top and to my surprise, it was the Hyundai. I would have loved an option of leather but the suede material I prefer now to my surprise lol. The button for the gears you get use to easily but I prefer a traditional shifter. I agree that the engine power on it is lacking to me but it's a comfortable ride, I wish it had more low end torque as review mentioned. Although it’s not like a speedster will be buying this vehicle lol it’s a family hauler. After, seeing this video I will go test drive an atlas due to me being in the market for one more car.
It's all about looks and features . Reliability comes last. I would like to save money and not keep buying something new and unload later. Keep for as long as i can. It's over 50k each!
It comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty. Twice the competition's. So Twice as reliable as competition. Remember, tell the dealership, if you can't guarantee the longevity of your product for 10 years like Hyundai, forget it junk dealer, I am going to Hyundai-Kia.
@@JohnLee-tb3nh , having a long warranty does not mean the car is reliable. Can't drive a car if it is in the shop all the time. A quick google search about Hyndai/Kia engine failure and easy to steal can confirm what i am saying.
Read the owner reviews… the 10 yr warranty is a joke. They refuse to honor it in many cases. One had been waiting for months on the Kia to get it back fixed. Lemon law? Nope they refused it. Now the person had to get a lawyer. Buy a Toyota … Honda.
Few things, The Atlas is my favorite. Did the Americans not receive an invitation? Durango? Traverse? Explore? THE BRAND NEW GMC Acadia Denali!!! The Palisade, in its highest trim is truly a Premium Luxury vehicle. What a value. Job well done Hyundai! The Grand Highlander in its highest trim is nicer than its Lexus cousin, and it looks significantly better! The Accent is truly a testament of how loyal Subaru customers are because that styling is all over the place then stretched to the ground, overall it’s a huge no for me. But hey they sale right. Thanks you all for real feedback. This was an awesome review.
This what happens when consumers chooses multi media looks specially the word “luxury features” over reliability and comfort, thats why automakers doesn’t care about reliability.
WOW they got it wrong!!! Clearly number one is the Highlander and clearly the Honda pilot comes way in front of Hyundai and Kia last on the list should be the atlas not the Subaru … according to reliability.. NOTE. Their order had Nothing to do with RELIABILITY.. I guess CARS only rates on the # of cup holders and storage bins
The seats are not comfortable in the ascent and I agree with you, there's not a lot of places to put things and when you do have two drinks in the cup holders you don't have any room left to put anything anywhere else. I was real disappointed in this, but Subarus just not known to compete with the majority. They have a very limited market and their cars are cheap and they sell a lot of them like in Colorado but they are just simple and functional. There is nothing special about them
Palisade and Telluride is a waste of money. What happen to Chevy, Ford and others. Still I prefer american brand SUV rather than all this foreign brand.
