I grew up in a household that included a room dedicated to being a library. My father would give me mandatory reading and as a child he wound not only read children's books but 1984, Animal Farm, Black Boy, and the history of the Rockefellers. Knowledge is power and how you use it is important.

I had mandatory reading as well. Much of it was the encyclopedia set my parents bought. As an adult, I am so thankful for that.

I stutter, too. I was born with it, my brothers have it, and so do my father and a few of his brothers. I've never met another black woman who stutters. People usually perceive my quietness as a good listener so I am that person friends come for advice. However, as I've grown older I no longer see it as an impediment but rather part of me. I'm also in DC❤

My anxiety went up this year at just the thought of writing down New Year resolutions. I've just been easing into the month of January and I plan to have some goals written down in time for your vision board souiree.
