Yay! I said pH level for soap was 9!! See… I listen, sometimes. I made this soap paste (last week) and I’m currently letting my mixture cool to be able to transfer to a bowl (to chill and whip for sugar scrubs), and decided to check out some of the other things I can make with this paste. (Which is AMAZING and I LOVE it!) Just wanted to thank you for your recipes and all the “why’s n what for’s” in all these recipes. You’re a delight to watch and a hoot to listen to! ❤
I bet Mrs. Soap & Clay has covered this elsewhere, but just fyi, not all preservatives are effective at higher pH ranges. Be sure to check the pH range of your intended preservative before use.
@@Carriedawaybath I'm sure whatever preservative Mrs. Soap & Clay used was perfect for that specific formulation. My comment was simply a caution in case someone thought they could use any preservative in place of the one she used. 😊
@tarawelter3648 Liquid Germall Plus, isothiazolinones, DMDM hydantoin are effective in higher pH environments. Some are formaldehyde releasers, so it's up to you the type of ingredients you are comfortable with using.
This is the second video I have seen of yours and you are so funny. Your personality and just the way you talk is very fun. I make my own liquid castile soap and I use it for everything including brushing my teeth. I could yap all day about castile soap, but that’s why I started watching you. Thanks!
I'm super in love with your soap paste! Thank you for sharing, I've been really putting off duel lye just because I didn't quite understand it. You make it Super clear and less intimidating! I used a melt and pour base for my sugar scrubs for family (for Christmas/ my test subjects) and I wasn't super enthused.... Plus to write all that on a label would have been miserable. So to that I say thank you!
I'm gonna have to make your paste recipe for funzies so I can soap along with this series. I need a break from my struggles with my bubble bars (I've spent a fortune over the years on recipes that just dont perform as well as liquid with my water). Harvest is done and my soap line has been created all the way till January. So I'm in my experiment and fun time of year.
If you making hand soap this is the easiest recipe. Put it in a pump foam dispenser and bam, hand soap! I would NEVER use this on my face however. I use surfactants for those recipes. The ph is way to high for use on the face. I stay between 4.3 and 5.2 for anything on the face. This us a great handsoap or shower soap. You just might need some lition afterwards however. I like your tee shirt! Maybe you got it as a freebie when you ordered shirts for merch, or maybe as a pre sale sample? I like that florescent green! That's not my colirs either, but I appreciate the color itself! Jill Gross
Ha! They’re silicone rings - we decided to start wearing these instead of having to take our bands off all of the time for the projects we do. These three rings are actually mine and the girls’ - they lose them all the time so I just put them on my fingers until they notice and ask for them back. 😂
I made soap paste today so I could do the sugar scrubs. The dual lye soap paste. I had fun. It was a quick project before work. And you need to make merch 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Does the fragrance separate in this? I made paste and use for my foaming sugar scrubs…love, love, love ❤️ thank you, but I’ve seen people say in groups that they’ve gotta use a FO modifier when they make liquid soap. Just looking for your advice. Thank you
I'm curious when you made this one did yours separate like a week later? I pretty much did mine exactly how you did yours. If I give it a little shake it mixes right back up no big deal
Can you make a concentrate? Meaning would I just add very little water. I bought Thieves from Young Living. It's not really thick but it's a 1 part to 30
@MrsSoapAndClay Hello. I've made this and find that after diluting and using it as a bodywash, I find it drying. What can I use to make it non-drying? I used in the paste: Citric acid, silk fibers, sugar, and distilled aloe liquid. also use 1.5:1 dilution with distilled aloe and glycerin. please help
For the soap paste that you used in this video, does it have butter in it? I made a soap paste that is basically my cp recipe but turned it into a duel lye thing like your soap paste video. I ask because I made hand soap like in this video with my soap paste and it's super cloudy and thick when using 2:1. I ended up having to dilute it alot but now I'm questioning if I should make a different soap paste and not use butters in it. What do you think?
Phenonip is generally a great go-to for water based products (which this would be), and optiphen is good for oil based products (think scrubs, face creams, etc). Have fun!
@@MrsSoapAndClay Good. I am trying to avoid having to put surfactants in products because most of them derive from coconuts but every shampoo video i find has surfactants. Would you be able to make a liquid shampoo video some day or do you already have one? .
Hey! This worked for me, but there’s always room to play in soap recipes! That’s one of the things I love about soap formulations; there’s no one way anything SHOULD be done. Have fun!
Yeah it’s a bit of a disaster over there right now. I’m actually nervous because I’m out of scrub containers and they’ve always been my go to. I may not have holiday scrubs.
@@MrsSoapAndClay - At least the order is in the warehouse (after 8 business days). As I told the customer service representative today, if they can't manage the 3 to 5 day lead time, then be honest and tell the customers what the actual lead time will be.
