"He's tiny, he must be sad." Made me choke on my coffee, lol. ☕ You're surrounded by kind and lovely people, have a great sense of humor and wit, and live in a frickin cool house. Yep, Shane's miserable, lol.
I can see you have a great sense of humour..... like Shane. You are goingto do just great in life. Wishing you all the best and a happy future. Dont sweat the small stuff. 😊
The worse part for me being disabled is that it slows me down walking as I wear a full leg brace of all 10lbs it weighs and my arm dangles when I walk. I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at age 20 which resulted in a stroke. At 65 yrs I’ve gotten over it. I had 2 children after the stroke. Changed diapers faster w/one hand then someone with 2. I can do everything thing w/1 hand so I’ve adapted! I’ve got a lot of empathy that I probably wouldn’t have had I not had the stroke. I wasn’t suppose to live but I’m SO grateful I did. I live life to the fullest now! Love your channel you inspire me!
Love this! I don’t think anyone wants a disability for good reason but I do feel people with disabilities have far greater understandings and abilities that able bodied people simply don’t. I appreciate you sharing your experience as it has confirmed my wonderings.
I thought Hannah was going to say the best perk was the abilitity to carry so many bags on Shane's chair. I loved that clip in whatever video it was where there were like 12 bags hanging off of Shane's chair. 😂 I am loving the Monday Grubbag series.
Question for next time: Hannah, what advice would you give a woman about marry a disabled man? And Shane, what advice would you give a man about to marry a non-disabled woman?
Shane’s life has great value because he makes people laugh, he has written for a TV show, he is making the world a better place with his (Hannah’s too) work to bring awareness of accessibility issues to the public. More importantly he and Hannah show us all how to live a happy life and what a great couple is.
@@mincedmash796 why are you here every video with your rude stupid comments that aren't even funny. I mean some trolls have a sense of humor at least. Every video. Being a complete jerk Being a troll is a sad disability. I hope you get help.
I had a very small intro into the disability world when my 4 year old son was on high dose cancer treatments. He was in a wheelchair for about a year. The worst part of him being disabled was obviously the heath issues. The best was the people we met. In that short time we encountered so many wonderful, kind, intelligent, capable, caring and talented humans. I know this might make people uneasy but the contrast between the quality people in the disabled community vs the able bodied community was quite shocking. Nearly every single person in the disability community was generous, kind and incredibly self aware and motivated. It’s a strong contrast to general public who take for granted so many things because they simply haven’t had to worry about health issues or even their own mortality. It’s a perspective that I think many people with disabilities are blessed with as it changes the they appreciate the world and life in general. Watching my son navigate that time in his life has grounded me in a way that I probably never would have experienced otherwise.
I think that’s why so many people say horrible things like “I’d rather die than be disabled” because it has been hammered into their head that their physical appearance and abilities are the most important things in life and that you can’t be happy without that. Being disabled forces you to look within yourself to find happiness and it seems many disabled people find true sources of happiness more easily and don’t take as much for granted.
Monday grub bad question: if you or Shane could view life through the perspective of an inanimate object, what would you choose and why? This could be in any setting, house, school, workplace, outdoors etc. love your videos!
I just discovered this channel like last week. Shane is legit one of the funniest people on RU-vid lol. I've been binge watching because of his sense of humor.
I love that you guys and Hannah’s parents live together. My parents moved just a few blocks away from me and it’s so wonderful and mutually beneficial!
I just adore you both! My 20 year old son, Noah has Autism and honestly, I don't know life would be like if he were neuro-typical. Having him in my life just makes me have a different perspective of life and for that, I am grateful. Thank you for being such an inspiration! :)
Love y’all! If you are comfortable sharing more about your fertility journey, I imagine the decision to live with your folks was one in which they will be excited to enjoy grand parenting but also having their own space with a little one around. My folks and I did the same thing 18 years ago. I was so lucky and grateful to have them in my home with my baby boy. Have you and your folks talked about expectations for grand parenting roles being in the same household? Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us!
When I first saw you guys, I thought you were childhood sweethearts. I can feel your love for each other. I just love you guys!!! Shane’s laugh is great! Many hugs 🤗 ❤️❤️
Shane you are so funny! I love your quick wit! Have you ever considered “sit down” comedy? 😉. Even my husband laughs at your epic humor! And that says a lot. Lol.
You break my heart with such stark truth. Being seen as having a lesser life, and all the stuff that goes with it. I never know what Shane will say.... and Shane you totally get me everytime!
Monday grub bag question: I've always wondered to what extent youtubers learn the names of people commenting. Do you have any followers that you've memorized the names of because you've seen it a lot? :) Or perhaps a thumbnail rather than the name.
I find some other youtubers I watch notice me. JP Videos When I first was watching him I was using my son's profile [ Ugh MOM! ] So I signed all my comments - Steph Luke's mom
Hey hey hey, don't tease Shane about being excited for his birthday. 😊He was born a one of my three favorite days of the year. My second daughter's birthday!! Happy Birthday 🎉 Shane!! Thank you both for all you do and sharing your lives with us.
I can attest to that Shane I have CP as well and I was married to an able bodied woman she past away from breast cancer almost 6 yrs now and I would love to find love like you found your Queen Hanna God bless ya both always
It's so funny and calming listening to you while working home on monday mornings. I like you both very much, and I learned a lot all these years with you. Thank you!
Both of you are absolutely beautiful people. The 2 of you compliment each other. Who cares what other people's opinion's are? I love watching the 2 of you. My life has been great. But, watching y'all ( Yes, I'm a Texan ) has just added more happiness to my life. Thank you for the video's and keep them coming. Can't wait to see the kiddo's when they come along.
MONDAY QUESTION: Would you rather fight one human sized ant, or 15 cat sized gorillas? No weapons. Befriending is a possibility, but must argue your method.
I love following your journey. Your honesty is a breath of fresh air, and both of your outlooks on life, and love, is a true testament to how you feel about each other. My Monday Grubbag question is this....what is the one thing that makes your bond the strongest it could be?
If I were Hannah, I would say that the best part of Shane's disability is the fact that it's what brought them together, when she saw that documentary! Much love to you both! 💞
I just want to say thanks for showing the authentic moments. I've been struggling with navigating a new diagnosis that changes the outlook of my life, and watching you guys address real moments has given me some peace.
I've been watching you guys long enough to know that when you split your lives with her parents it would work. The secret sauce is in your personalities. There was no doubt you guys would be able to negotiate that successfully. And that speaks to the kind of people you are and the reason your channel is so successful. You're just adorable both of you.
hi guys my wife is in a wheelchair,we meet 12 years ago and get married, she move from canada to the netherlands and we bove don,t see that she can,t do so much, but for me its normal to help her its just a part of our life! be and stay happy! we love you guys! greetings from holland
@RainbowSpringI think your attitude sucks and remember a person can become disabled at anytime during their life. (disease and accident) since you don't know what your future holds it wouldn't kill you to have compassion. You will probably find yourself sitting ALONE if a disability were to occur in your lifetime. Karma! Besides that what do YOU do for a living that men are touching you all the time? Hannah doesn't seem to be that kind of girl.
Hey I want to thank you for educating others on what it is like to be disabled, I am now 54 but when I was 27 my husband and I were in a vey bad car accident, I have been disabled since then and so many people have told me * I am so lucky he did not leave me* that was shocking to us that people would now think I am a burden because I am not what they think is normal. We have started dating 37 years ago and will celebrate out 34th Wedd anniversary on July 30th. It does not matter what others say, because the Truth is the Truth and you are Happy together. I know it hurts sometimes, just try to ignore those people what have no idea that in a blink of an eye they too can become disabled. Thank you for sharing your videos !!
Grubbag question: did Shane ever have any surgeries to help with mobility (as in moving arms, legs, feet, fingers, joints, etc.) growing up? And would any surgeries help with that now as an adult?
These are two awesome people... Their connection with each other is amazing... You can feel their joy even thru their vids... I wish I can meet them one day . It'll be a true blessing..
You both love food and Shane loves beer so much has you guys ever considered starting a brewery shop, restaurant and pub, giving fans a place to visit and enjoy while also contributing to you as a local own establishment?
There are products to help with chlorine damage. You can also wear a swimming cap that seals well. I personally like chlorine in my hair, makes them lighter, like they used to be when I was younger 😉 Doesn't seem to do any damage if washed out after a swim, maybe because I never dyed or otherwise chemically treated my hair 🤷🏼♀️
@@amie6243 check out trihard products, aqua guard, etc Also check out swimmers websites for tips and recommendations. You'll find something that works for you 🙂
As a perpetually single disabled woman whose (also single) mom jokes about living with me forever, it's actually comforting that it can be done. Totally agree that the worst part of being disabled is the ableism, victim-blame and the fact that if yours is invisible, it's either completely denied, or blamed on a character flaw. And I can't believe that Mermaid Princess Hannah doesn't come with rainbow sprinkles!
Question: If you got to choose a song to play every time you entered a room what would it be? What instrument would you play if you could play any instrument?
Squirmy and grubs, as an extreme introvert, watching you all makes me feel like I have friends who I can chat to any time, without actually talking if you know what I mean 😅 thank you for sharing your world with us!
I’m a nurse working stressful 12 hour shifts while 35 weeks pregnant. I spent my one 30 minute lunch break watching your videos (which I often do!) and I’ve laughed out loud so many times. Thank you!
I’m living with myasthenia gravis, charcot marie tooth disease, degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis. Living with multiple disabilities is hard. People without disabilities are usually the most judgmental. I’m so glad you and others have found people to love you. Your videos make me hopeful. They make laugh and joyful.
You guys are so amazing! Don't worry about what people are saying. They must be miserable in their own lives they project it to yours. Love that you are living your truth and living life to the fullest and unapologetically. Love you both from Tonga in the South Pacific ❤
Its crazy to me that some people would think that Shane has less value because of his disability, even though he's contributed more to this world than most do, or ever will. We love you Shane 😍❤💜♥
Monday Grubbag questions: How does Shane eat on his own? (I know you’ve said he can but I don’t think you’ve ever shown him eating.) Also, is there any part of Shane’s body he can’t move at all? I love u guys so much 🙂
Oh come on, they showed his feeding robot at least twice. He cannot eat completely independently, can't prepare his own food. Someone has to either feed him or cut his food and place into the robot and set the robotic plate in an appropriate place. Shane cannot move his arms, he can only move his hands a little.
@@PrismaticPixie he can eat normal food, it just has to be cut up into small bites (he can't open his mouth too wide) and brought to his mouth (by either his obi or someone).
I LOVE you two so very much!! You both are the coolest people I've ever know! Thank you for all you do! So my question is: if you guys were gonna write a funny, silly children's " Squirmy and Grubs" book , which cartoon character would most be like each your own personality that you would portray in the book, and what adventure would your cartoon characters do?
You both look extremely happy & in love. Enjoy life. You cannot fix stupid or fight trolls. They're unhappy troglodites with empty lives. Much love to you both!
You can't fix them but you can report them. They will be banned after enough negative reports. They ask for the type of offense when you report and I use the harassment or bullying option because that's what it is. Of course they create a new account after being banned...but it still shows them we won't put up with their slime anymore.
Could you maybe do a video where you talk more about living with your parents? Maybe there are some anecdotes? And I would be curious about how you spend time together / how your daily routines are connected
Serious question- I always have dark “bags” under my eyes. What is Shane’s secret to such a fresh looking complexion and such handsome smooth and pale under eyes???
Sleep is definitely an important factor. I usually never have bags under my eyes. But every once in awhile when I have a terrible night of sleep or if I take a quick nap during the day, I almost always wake up with bags under my eyes. I know you want them to answer and I hope you don't mind my advice. I think there's lots of other causes too but I don't know what they are.
@@maayan1832 I thought it was makeup to cover up dark circles tbh but I think they mentioned it in a video once and said it wasn't. Now I want to look up if there's a reason or cause to white circles under the eye
Same here about the dark under my eyes. You live your life with people saying to you, "Who BEAT YOU up!??" And "Did ya get into a FIGHT!?" Or "Did your BOYFRIEND beat you up!?" There's no end. When you get prescription glasses though the full framed ones deter the onlooking eye from the stupid cursed dark bags. I'd love to know a cure! Not into time consuming glamor, pop culture methods here like slapping cucumbers or muddy avocado on my eyes though- no time for all that nonsense.
@@lc4life369 One time somewhere I read online that it's genetic. Though not to confuse bags with general dark underneath the thin skin below the eyes. Bags are biological and medical, but dark is more genetic I think.
Been following for awhile, and have read your books. I was searching for books to teach my children about disabilities and discovered your children’s book “Not so different.” I read it with my kids. They loved it and your sense of humor. More importantly, they learned a lot. Great job.
Yesss I asked the same question this time and last time but haven't gotten it answered. Mine is a little more specific tho. I asked what both of there favorite shows were from as far back as they can remember until now. (like from a toddler until now) and do they have a favorite show in common now. I hope one of our questions get picked
I think you're pretty inspiring, life & it's qualities is how we make it. You've done some crazy cool stuff & continue doing it which brings a lot of joy with humor as well as proof a disAbled life is still a good life, showing that is more valuable than you know, you touch so many people.
Monday Grubbag Question: my 10 year old daughter has a physical disability. She is a very happy little lady that lives life with her disability proudly but every now and then gets down on herself. Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for these moments? I love you two and your relationship so much! This video had me cracking up laughing!
What if any assistive technologies do you use on phones and computers and how do they help you. What if any assistive technologies would you like to see that do not exist today?
Shane and Hannah have either of you ever reached out to a family member or friends for advice in your relationship and if so what was the advice you were seeking?
Monday Grub Bag Question (aka MGBQ)- What are some things on your respective bucket lists that you are yet to achieve but really want to (e.g learn a language, visit a certain country, foster animals, finish a doctorate, get a tattoo, etc)?
Thank you for sharing your life stories with all of us! It is amazing how much people just assume about the two of you and your lives. I look forward to your videos and hope we can all enjoy them for many years to come.
Any news about the accesibility on airplanes you guys were fighting for? Having SMA aswell and being on a ventilator makes sitting in a mechanical wheelchair and on the plane seat impossible, so I hope one day there will be proper accessible place on a plane.
@@vanessaa4236 Yeah I completly understand the complexity of this. Thank you for giving us atleast some hope and putting your time into it, we appreciate you!
I haven't finished the video but so far my favorite question is how has your relationship grown. Like you try to be so perfect in the beginning. You have that shield up. Buy as you spend more time with your significant other you start to relax and be more your true self. And your partner does too. Communication. Authenticity. Love. This video made me laugh and smile. Thank you. Keep up the good work!
thanks for posting these mondays! like someone else said, i play your videos when i’m cooking or doing things around the house and your company is always my favorite! love you guys!
Monday grub bag question: typing from not so sunny Norfolk, England 😁 What are your top 3 favourite places you have visited outside of the USA? p.s love you both ❤
Thanks for being a voice for people such as myself and millions of others with disabilities and. Letting people know our lives can be joyful and full of purpose and we can have happy relationships. 🌷💕😀
