Thanks for the breakdown! I much prefer the 1st gen and the new gen sounds! Not that I dislike the painted RAVS, but they seem to have a lot more chatter in them. So looking forward to getting one of these golden RAVs!
@@RAVVastSteelTongueDrum Yes, it actually just arrived yesterday! The sound is clear and resonant and I like that there isn't a ton of contact noise beyond the impact of striking. Although it's a different scale from my old rubber rim RAV, they both have a fullness that I love (and I can't get enough of that eternal sustain).
I’m glad to hear that this newest generation is closer to the old one with rubber rim. Can’t wait to have one in my hands! Thanks for the comparison 🙏🏻
Which exact scale are all three of them? I can hear a big difference between all of them. But I must say, that the newest generation does sound closer to the oldest generation, which is absolutely great.
@@RAVVastSteelTongueDrumI’ve only played the d major. I can’t decide on a new Rav or something else big now 😮😊. They’ll be the last last big instruments I have space for in current studio!
@@RAVVastSteelTongueDrumpart of the problem was deciding scale. I borrowed a d major Rav. I loved it. Someone in a near death experience said it’s the scale of heaven. I couldn’t decide what fitted with my fixed instruments and the band 🙄 I have D minor (something?) wix tongue drum 432 D minor Celtic pan amor Handpan (I returned the d major Rav but may borrow again) A 440 C F 432 crystal bowls C G notes monolini I can tune C pentatonic Metallophone 440 A minor Native American flute scale (In the band there is a D minor native and c minor native flute (not necessary to fit all those in band) What Handpan would you think fits best with all those Just playing along with some of the instruments B Celtic double ding sounds really interesting and vibing but maybe overwhelming), d major is more clashy (but I just love the sound of it), (A integral is a bit dull perhaps) (d minors obvs would go great but maybe worth some variety) It’s all white notes on the piano in my studio with the fixed instruments pretty much. Any tips? Thanks 🙏
I see a lot of second hand ravs for sale on the german "ebay kleinanzeigen" site! You have to ask the sellers if they're willing to ship internationally but the prices aren't bad. There are also much cheaper alternatives on russian sites (just bought a brand new condition older style rav for less than 350$, if you're interested I could connect you to the seller) but payment and shipping is very difficult
I've bought a Vast this weekend through "Kleinanzeigen" in German, or "Kijiji" internationally. Still more than a dozen for sale here, but often rather overpriced as well.
@@RAVVastSteelTongueDrum I've got a 2021 G Gympy and it's awesome. I've ordered a Moon D Celtic from you guys and hope it's coming soon, but the Vast keeps me busy anyway🤩
