After temporarily relocating to Montana, I thought I'd share with you the cost of my living expenses for one month, comparing and contrasting the lifestyles between living in a metropolitan area like San Francisco, versus a more rural area like Kalispell, Montana and the Flathead Valley. Same, us Hawaiians have to deal with outsiders constantly screwing up and mistreating our islands.. a little respect of the land goes a long way with locals, but I guess the concept of respect is something that’s really hard to grasp.. 🤷‍♀️

The problem is people from California are coming here to Montana and buying property sight unseen and paying ridiculous prices driving prices up. Average rent for a 1 bedroom here used to be $500 a month. Now we have California prices. With pushing montana living like this, Montana will be California soon. 😔

@@newmomma221 In the same boat! I was going to be able to pull the trigger on the my first home last September, but houses were gone in less than 24 hours, site unseen. I hope the people who are doing this get a really rude awakening when they see how hard it really is to live here.

Don’t go about it like this, if you truly love our state you wouldn’t hope for people to flock there simply for lower cost of living. You know how us Montanans feel about californians and outsiders flocking to our state, and in turn pushing locals and natives out.

It’s not “Californians” it is diversity that has destroyed CA. You want to preserve the super white majority in Montana and keep non whites a super minority. That is the key. CA is within a margin of error of being red less Mexicans and it is vastly whites leaving CA for this reason.

Not only that, but Californians don't seem to consider that they get paid higher at their jobs for their higher cost of living (obviously unless you're making minimum wage). Other areas whose CoL isn't as expensive is going to pay less -- it makes sense. Unfortunately it's just ridiculously expensive to live right now.

I feel for the red states like AZ, FL, ID, MT, etc that serve as the escapes for coastal progressives who are tired of insane taxes, crime, etc they voted for in blue states....then want to change the places they move to. My family lives in NW Montana, and they are VERY hesitant about welcoming out of towners for that very reason. Lots of good, hard working, blue collar Americans in that part of the country, and they like the way things were just fine.

That's right, a few months ago I spoke to a customer who has lived in AK for a decade but the pandemic made him realized he needs to be close to his family just in case, He chose MT over Colorado where his other daughter lives. The reason YUP! Prices and standard of living.

Haley! Are you kidding me!? Have you seen all those new buildings in the financial district that are ranging from 1500-2500? With all amenities?! They can’t rent them because so many people have left the city, not to mention those that now come to Oakland. I live in Montana. Don't kid yourself about moving here. It's cold, windy, dirty, and winters are long and hard. You are wanting Colorado. Yes Colorado is more $$$, because it's way better and worth it. New Mexico and Utah are also so much less harsh than here.

Montana isn't bad but I thought of moving to Mexico since i have family there. I speak Spanish pretty fluently and prefer Mexico to anywhere I've been in the USA, even San Francisco or San Diego. I grew up in oroville california mostly but have lived and gone to school in Mexico, Utah, Idaho, Arizona and Florida, and I actually think about and miss México a lot. People in California called me José Hoser. 😂 It sounds funny with a gringo accent especially a Northern California cowboy one!

It would be a dream to visit Montana! I grew up in Manila and have been living in Switzerland for over 20 years. I definitely prefer wide open spaces and nature to the hustle and bustle (not to mention pollution and congestion) of the city. Love your channel Haley 💛 💚 💙

I'm amazed watching your video about Kalispell MT. I always go there every summer of the year in June or July. My husband family is from Kalispell and Columbia Falls 30 mins drive to Glacier Park. Beautiful scenery in Montana, but where are the high paying jobs? Also availability of medical care in case of disease or accidents?

As a Montana native hopefully I can help answer this question! Most of the higher paying jobs are in Healthcare in the bigger towns and agriculture spread out throughout the state. In western Montana, access to Healthcare is pretty great with many hospitals (level II and III trauma centers) and clinics in each major town. As for Eastern Montana, we primarily have critical access hospitals which can be 50+ minutes away from our tiny agriculture based towns.

I know I’m not the only one saying this but a big reason places like Montana Wyoming and such are cheap is because of the people who are voted in there. So if you vote for the party who likes to Jack up prices and spends the money on useless stuff then don’t ruin it for the people who live out there to get away with that. I’m so desperate to leave California (born and raised in rural Northern where the mountains and snow are). Everyone is moving up here from the Bay Area and they brought their rental prices with them and began renting out a large portion for air bnb. I have coworkers who won’t work with me because they like to talk about politics and I’m a republican. Where do I go?

I am living here in California and have a decent earning wage, but I can tell you it's not fun here. I may be earning more than any Montanan's can dream of, but to me having a "normal" happy and less stressful life is way better than anything else. Life is too short, enjoy it.

LOL! Visited whitefish for the weekend…24 miles away from Kalispell. Most of us drive there and back multiple times a weekend. Don’t forget the cold, cloudy, snowy weather during the winter. Hopefully that will scare you warm blooded peeps back to where you came from.

I am glad i have my home paid off here in Montana....I will never sell my home here in Montana....I figure my home now is worth about a half a million dollars! I paid 185 thousand 15 years ago and now its worth way more....Living in Montana has taught me a lot....I came from Minnesota from a town of 25 thousands and was living 40 north of Minneapolis St Paul.....This move was the best Decision i ever made.....Thanks Haley for the great Video.....Bye the way i just cant help myself from saying how Beautiful of a women you are ....Just saying..........By the way i also live on the River....The river i live on is called The Yaak River.....Ps i could never ever live in California....Yuk personally! Thank you for the video. We are retirees living in SF - our home is paid for but seriously I want to get a secod home some where clean and pretty like Momtana. It is depressing how living in the Bay Area with high taxes we have some of the worst homeless problems ever - witness Civic Center or Berkeley - the California dream does not exist for the hundreds/thousands of tent dwellers here.
