Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Ltd, according to some media reports, is planning to enter a partnership with a local player. What would this arrangement, rumoured to be with M&M or JSW, mean for the group that's not been able to grip the Indian market despite two decades of stay? Purchased VW Highline 1L TC in Bombay for 17L+ with discount last Nov. overall the car is great, DD, Braking, Stability, Safety, Thud noises, shape, cuts etc. What’s missing? I am not even going to mention fuel economy. Any car from any segment in Bombay will not provide FE of your liking. Also hate sunroofs. Glad we don’t have one. Besides FE, I miss Electronic seat adjustment V&H. Push button start. Ventilated seats Rear wiper fluid dispenser. Strong roof. We rejected the Elevate because 2nd variant did not have a rear wiper and the third variant had a sunroof. Plus the CVT though smooth is only for folks who have retired 10 years back!

Not sure where is the journalist trying to reach at. Purpose of having sister concern with similar products is to gain market share . If hyundai kia can aspire then why shouldn’t VW Skoda, blame the strategy dont blame the vision

@@lukamuller454 Don’t agree. I am driving a Taigun last 2 years and clocked 20,000 kms. No issues so far. I have service package of Rs 22,000/- for 4 years. I have a Swift also which also has similar service costs. Don’t go by perception and hear say.

It is stupid to say that they should not compete. VW, Skoda compete in multiple markets already, both have different USPs.

Main problem is showroom, where onroad price meets thr previous onroad price even after discount.😅, and this happens where in entire state there's only one dealer,

Then market showing features, in 20laks onroad creta seltos such as loaded car, then theres vw/skoda there AC even not sufficient how things will b work in such issues, nobody cares about act, dsg, build quality, they care about features and looks and size, when taigun crosses 20laks onroad, then comes indian mentality, why not harrier in 22laks or safari, where we can hav safety and feature loaded

Bought a Kushaq last year . Till now it’s good had two issues they resolved it very quick . Don’t know about VW but skoda definitely has a future over here with their upcoming line up . If you are driving enthusiasts then definitely skoda VW but you just want features then the Korean twins

Im not sure about the sales numbers being accurate. From what I see, their numbers are around 6000. One obvious strategy for them to increase their sales is “make your cars less safe by focusing on features like panoramic sun roof” 😉

This is a hot topic, but I fail to understand, why these 'experts' can't see the 'Elephant in the room'? Why can't they speak openly,that these companies, didn't 'transfer the technology', the way,Suzuki did with Maruti!! Suzuki, build( manufacture) their own engines, gear box, transmission, even they buy 'desi' sheet metal!! ( I just learnt, that sheet metal for skoda/VW too was imported( Along with Engine, gear box & transmission)) Add to it electricals/ dashboard plastic!! Why they do not talk about it? Do they think,Bharatiya manufacturing industry can't compete? ( Few months back, Cabinet minister,Rajnath Singh, scolded Hyundai, regarding 'High import of components'!! ) I am not singaling out Skoda/VW, every imported car manufacturer, imports critical components ( including Maruti) But Maruti imports only turbo petrol engine!! Even Bharatiya companies like Mahindra, imports turbo petrol engine!!( Kindly correct me, if I am wrong!!) Wake up, tell the truth!! 'Make in Bharat' for God's sake!! Don't ' Beat behind the bush'!!🎉

@@Liberty55555 Is it problematic for you, to talk about 'make in Bharat'? Does VW/ skoda make engine, gear box, transmission in Bharat? Kindly educate me on this point please!! Don't 'shift the goal post'!! Maruti 'was' a company with stakes of Congress party, before it was taken over by Suzuki!! I am writing about Maruti's, strengths, of 'making in Bharat' Where 'RSS' comes here? Are you in your senses? Why are you 'politicizing' the topic?

Goal post is shifted when you get busy in saying bharat bharat and not india. It just shifts your stress on new agenda. Why will a company try to make in india when there is lack of talent and hard work as part of culture ?

Good initiative from The Print to sort of unclutter the Skoda/VW story. Probably, the host is getting conscious of the camera hence the body language is a bit timid (also reflected in his voice)

VW and Skoda must stop treating india like a 3rd rate market and start introducing international models and diesels. They sell such cheap models in india that aren't even sold in Germany.
