Hey Honest Guide! I'm an American that actually lived in Brno, Czech Republic, for 10 years. Everytime I bring up Czech Republic to any of my American friends, I always suggest Brno over Prague if they have the time. You're right about everything on Brno, although it has been getting a little bit more touristy in the past few years. You definitely will hear not only Czech be spoken. A lot of English, Romanian, Slovak, Russian, etc.
@ChrisLindsley

In 2008 I spent a a couple weeks in Czech Republic. I definietly liked Brno over Prague, but I really liked Český Krumlov. Others have told me it can get crowded in peak tourist season, but when I was there is was just a lovely small town with a BIG castle.

It depends where you're from. If you're European, and over 30, you've probably seen a lot of various European countries and destinations (vacations, studies, and a few dozen weekend getaways), and they start to become predictable and a bit boring, while other continents are exotic. That's my case. But if you're American, Chinese, Brazilian etc., you might think that one short "Eurotrip" is enough and you've seen it all. While it's barely enough to cover the overhyped tourist traps.

There is a saying... no pain, no gain. You are right, the word Gatzelugatxeko is spelled like Euskalduns do... but the current Spanish official name is Gatzegulache ... which is, by no means, easier to pronounce (actually, it sounds the same). In normal Spanish we would say "Castillo de la Peña"... that most Spanish speakers will recognize. It's easier to remember and to learn to pronounce if you recall the origin of the name: Castillo (Gatzegu) and Peña (Atx)... and then the "San Juan" (Doniene)... all together "Gatzegulatxe Doniene". Easy, isn't it?

@@ZonkerRoberts Unfortunately Brno Circuit currently has private owner, Grand Prix will not host races there until it's fixed (from what I heard) and current owner refuses to do anything about it due to 'financial struggles' and there is a blame shifting game between him and city government. It's now I think used only for amateur racers and there is very slim hope of it ever hosting bigger events like MotoGP again... Rich people usually buy these things and leave them to ruins refusing to take proper care.

Historical Banat (which very briefly existed as an independent country right after WWI) is a region currently divided between Hungary, Romania and Serbia. There are many such examples in Europe. I certainly hope that it serves as a bridge between those three countries. BTW, kudos for pronouncing Cres and Rijeka perfectly.

As some other viewer has noted, that "Gaztelugatxeko Doniene" is spelled in Euskera (people from the Basque Country call their land Euskadi and the language Euskera, and the language is truly one of the most ancient languages in Europe not related to Latin). The official Spanish place name is equally difficult to pronounce: Gaztelugache (the "tx" is a common digraph in Euskera that usually translates to "ch" and is pronounced /tʃ/ ... like in charm or catch). But you can easily learn to do say it properly... if you follow the meaning of the word. Actually, the name comes from the word Gaztelu (castle) in Euskera, which is quite similar to "castillo" (castle) only G for C and Z for S which are common variations... so its easy to remember: Castle -> Castillo -> Gaztelu. Ok... that's the first part of the word. Now the appended "atx" (pronounced /atʃ/) which means rock, easy. Then the "ko" which is the genitive case (denotes a "place"). And, voilà, you get the full word in Euskera: Gaztelugtxeko. So the name would be "place of the castle of the rock"... The second word ("Doniene") means "Saint John" (from the word "Done" which in Euskera means "Saint" and "Iene" which means "Juan"). So... the translated name in normal Spanish would be something like: "San Juan del Castillo de la Peña"... Actually, the ancient name of the place in Latin was "Sancti Johannis de Castiello". But I like Gaztelugatxeko Doniene more... Doesn't it sound more fun? And it's the name that local people use too (no, nobody translates it to "dragon stone"). By the way... the pronunciation that the guy from Honest Guide gives to Bilbao is like in between the actual Spanish name and the actual Euskera name for the city. Bilbao in Spanish is pronounced with the stress in the second syllable, not in the first one ... This way: BilbAo. People from Euskadi say Bilbo (without the "a" in the spelling and stress in the first syllable)... and the pronunciation is easy to remember for those who have seen The Hobbit. And... yes! They are both (Gaztelugache and Bilbao) wonderful places to visit. But, by no means, the places that I'd chosen. We have many many places that really are worth paying the time to deviate from the more known touristic sites. Albarracín, in Teruel, Orbaneja del Castillo, in Burgos, Patones de Arriba, in Madrid, to name just a few... full routes to walk through or whole shires to wander about (away from the most crowded ones): Sierra de Cameros, La laguna negra y Picos de Urbión, Babia, Cazorla, Irati... Name a province, and you'll find an amazing small or middle size town to stroll or a beautiful landscape to enjoy that almost nobody is aware of (not even many Spaniards). Places that very few tourists visit, ever. Even Albacete, that most Spaniards regard as the ugliest province in Spain, has jewels hidden like the Fonts of Río Mundo near Riópar.

I was also in Poland several times and I always liked it, it's very underrated country, I also liked Baltic sea in Latvia, these countries are clean, you don't need car and it's not that expensive. There are also cool places in Portugal which I visited few years ago, but I recommend more like not to stay in Lisbon, some smaller cities look better.
