Eventhough I am student from another university in another country, but I find I relate some of these tips a lot. I am now in my 2nd year, since our uni is pretty open approach in terms of choosing elective subject but I now try new subjects elective which I have never done before in highschool and I would never thought I would do well in. But I now try to have open minded approach that our uni taught us :)
I’ll be applying to Harvard in 4 years and I REALLY hope I get in. Any tips on what extracurricular and activities will give me the best chance of getting in?
Don't get your hopes too high, it's the hardest school to get into in the entire country, debatably the entire world. Start working on things to stand out, student government is a huge deal. Try to never get anything other than an A, always take the hardest courses you can take. Find yourself and stay motivated. Good Luck!
@@kyle7833 for the extracurriculars, don't try to do only those which are "trendy". Trendy becomes boring VERY soon unless it's done well. I'm talking about ECs like publishing a research paper, NHS, starting a club or non profit organization, volunteer work etc. Of course, if you're from someplace where there are not a lot of people who do these, then that's a bonus for you if you do. But things like research are kinda elitist because only people from pretty resourceful regions can do them, so if you have research on your resume they WILL look up where you live to figure out if it's common in your area. If it isn't, then you just earned a point, but if it is, then it shows nothing about you. Basically my point is don't do anything just because a lot of other people are doing it. It becomes much harder to get in if all your activities are very common ones.
I bought a sweater from the student association from harvard college because I took an English course there and I ended up being cursed! I wear my sweater and the oppulent and very discusting vibe of harvard always through its racism seems to try to win. It is horrible.
