► Hi everyone, in todays vlog I head back from the Isle of Wight to attend my good friends Will & Ardens wedding. ► Check out my other channels and SUGGscribe @ThatcherJoe @thatcherjoegames @inthepan
Love the pond idea however having young children and a pond in your yard is a danger you want to avoid. Once kids come along that would be more stress the relaxation lol
Not a pond if you’re having kids. RoSPA recommends to fill in ponds until kids are 6 years old. Maybe a sand pit or rockery if you want to make it a seating area 🪴
Ponds are absolutely fine for children as long as you have proper fencing around it great for them to learn about the wildlife around the pond we have one and my grand daughter absolutely loves it ,they make such a feature in a garden to,you have such a lovely large garden you could so much with it Jo enjoy whatever you decide to do ❤😊😊
Yeah but this is Joe we’re talking about lol, he’s a massive worrier even with it all fenced up and that he probably still be panicking and stressed. Probably isn’t worth putting himself through that.
The jars are glazed stoneware Joe they are lovely. Torn between a pond and keeping the trampoline the latter great for future children then when they are older create a pond. Loved the vlog ❤
I love a rockery and pond so i'm with you on that one Joe,(sorry Dianne) i'm also on the 4th Thursday Murder Club book."The last devil to die", they are really good. Thanks for the vlog Joe,Much love 🥰🥰🥰
Definitely team pond!!! Then your family can learn how to feed the wee fish. Also such a nice tranquil feature to have in a garden. We need updates on this!🫶🏻
Team pond, water feature you could even make it like a little wild life bit so bumblebees butterflys ect, trust me kids will use a trampoline a few times and get bored but a pond with fish frogs ect will enjoy it more, imagine getting some frog spawn and watching it grow to frogs kids will enjoy that more
The trampoline may not be in good condition when you have kids and they are old enough to use it. Those things get rusty, the materials get dried out, etc. Plus when you have kids, you'll realize how dangerous a trampoline is. I say remove it now, and if they want a trampoline when they're older, you can think about it then. As a kid, I would have much rather been the home with a cool pond.
Team Pond for me - sorry Dianne. Also Joe, I get extremely nervous when getting a flight. I convince myself something will be wrong with something when I check in. It’s never happened (yet) but I’m taking a flight to Australia next week to see my daughter who lives in Melbourne. I’m travelling alone (have done long haul before but not as far as Australia). You would thing as a 59 year old I’d be used to it by now but it doesn’t get easier as I get older. I blame the menopause 😅.
I’d love a pond, but if you’re future proofing for kids, don’t do it till they’re older. Maybe just have a little wildlife pond for frogs 🐸 sinking a washing up bowl into the ground. Safer for kiddies x
i'm the same with anxiety travelling, especially planes. Travelling to Helsinki for work on Friday and took the 4 hour layover in Amsterdam to give myself enough time to navigate an unknown airport.
I love the idea of a cosy seating area but I think the pond would need to be somehow childproof on top of the fact that you’d have to make time in your busy schedule to clean it regularly. I think you should keep the trampoline and still create a serene seating area and that way you and friends with/without kids can sit and watch them comfortably.
Trampoline great for kids. You’ll probably regret changing it to a pond if you have kids in the future. I know the pond will look great, but maybe not the time for it.
Joe, in my view you are my brother from another mother when it comes to things that give us anxiety. So trust me, ponds and kids (even if they are not yours, a recipe for MASSIVE anxiety!!!! Don’t go there
Unfortunately imho when you have little ones you will hate having a pond! Sorry but its true keep the trampoline and maybe put a pond in when kids are much older.
Can’t say I’m team pond as my daughter nearly drowned in my mother’s pond when she was little! Have hated them ever since! 😬 So definitely team trampoline!
Team trampoline! We had a pond until I was like 3-4 years old. But I was always down there, because kids love water so my parents didn’t think it was safe with children (a fence didn’t stop me, neither did a net on top of it) so then they took the water out and put sand in it
Joe! Ponds dont like being in full shade, about half and half is good. And dont forget children drown in ponds almost every day, so make sure that cannot happen.
Oh a pond with a waterfall or something that makes nice soothing sounds 100%. You will getvmuch more use of that and a not so permanent trampoline can be placed somewhere else if needed.
Before you said pond thats what i would have recommended. A zen garden where you can meditate or do yoga near. Or just somewhere you can sit and read or relax. Depending how deep maybe even 2 koi fish lol
Definitely the pond - it's much more interactive for children (with supervision) and relaxing for adults with the ambiance. I bet Diane's stuck on the tramp because she's an aussie and having a tramp in the backyard is like a rite of passage for kids there haha but in England I reckon a pond just feels right ;)
Pond now, buy a bigger trampoline when /if you have children. By the time you have children old enough to jump this Trampoline probably won’t meet safety standards. 👍🏼 Those jugs are actually worth a fair bit of money, I don’t think I’d put dirt inside or let water collect with mud inside it might ruin the inside. There are some jugs to be found still but not as many in the great shape those are and it’s rare to find them with the tops. 🙋🏼♀️
Ohhhhhh dear Joe I love this vlog! And Im happy that your sweetheart is with you! Oh, Im just sticking with the pond idea, but I think you can combine that space into something really nice with the jumps and a crazy garden like the one in Wonderland. You can put all the elements together in a smaller version and I think it will fit well! :) If you create a pond, fireflies will come to visit :')
I love that so many people had the same reaction about Matt King being in the video 😂 I always knew they had mutual friends but it's so funny to see them at the same place. In my head, they're in too different universes lol
