Oh my! Julia, thank you so very much for taking the time to comment!! We're so excited to receive your cookbook and are looking forward to using it! :)
@@ozarkfamilyhomestead Oh Janice I just love Julia's channel and her meals!! Can't wait to see what you try!! She is a wonderful cook who really knows how to budget for her family!!
I know you prefer not to use store-bought chemical products, but just in case you ever have another large quantity of jars where you need the “sticky” removed… nail polish remover or acetone will do it quickly. Alternatively, dish liquid works well, too, If you run the sticky under hot water and put the dish liquid on it and let it soak for a while. The china cabinet looks amazing!!! ❤️
When I was 16 and ready to move out of home ( yes, I marrieed very early and had a baby girl by age 19, who has never not been loved) my Mom took me on a little trip around local sandwich businesses and we asked for empty pickle jars..40 years later they are still my go to for essentials..Flour, beans, lentils, corn..I love the fact that they hold this memory.. 😊❤
You did an amazing job making a new spice cabinet. Using your resources for a prettier spice cabinet. AWESOME!!!!. Waste not want not. Also the items were free. A plus.
Hi Janice and Family. Janice, your spice cabinet is so Pretty. Repurposing glass jars is something I do also. Painting the lids was a very good idea. Thanks Andrew Andrew, Janice and Family. 😊❤🙏 Ms. Ruby
Frog toenails I laughed so hard someone has a good sense of humor.what a difference it makes to have used your jars.i just loved to make changes in the house whether it be a book shelf or kitchen cabinets.
I have been subscribed to your channel for over a year. I just looked and somehow I had been unsubscribed! Guess that's something I need to start checking out. I am now subscribed again and enjoy all of your all's videos. God bless
Just an idea for the spice cabinet. If you want to fit more in the cabinet maybe add some tiers ( like a little shelf) that fit within the cabinet. I have a tiered spice stand in my cabinet. It raises the height of the back ones. Perhaps one of the boys could make a custom fit one. It would still look as neat as you have it, allowing for more jars.
very nice transformation! I soak my jars in super hot soapy water for at least 30mins then use a scraper to get the paper and sticky off, the cheap magic erasers from dollar tree help get rid of the remaining stubborn bit
Great job 😊 The spice cabinet looks awesome! I'd be measuring the label location with a ruler 😂😅. I like the room in front to accommodate smaller jars as well. The labels on those jam jars are beastly (I gave up), but they are a good size. Abigail makes me laugh, such a happy kid.
Hii Janice this is a very nice spice cabinet it fits right in your kitchen it reminds me of the dish cabinet that my grandmother had in her kitchen i love it.
It looks sooooo pretty. All the mommas here are like ahhhhhh how nice. What a lovely cabinet. And you and your daughter are just lovely. I'm a new subscriber so looking forward to watching your videos x
Looks great! I love organizing items. I actually prefer the way you are showing and thanking viewers for their gifts although I enjoyed seeing your family’s gratitude.
That turned out awesome! My kind of project to do as well. I like those Aldi's salsa jars for food storage because they have the uniform shape with no shoulder and the wide opening
Hi there! I'm a viewer from Australia. Maybe it's not a readily sourced item in the USA, but in Australia, we use Eucalytpus oil to remove sticky residue from jars and bottles. It works really well - you just need to rub it on - and you only need a tiny bit. Teatree oil also works in a pinch. :)
Just a little dish detergent (we call it washing up liquid in the UK) on a cloth, or even just your finger, will usually remove label residue. If it's stubborn, a scouring sponge helps 😊
Looks great. Lemon essential oil will take the sticky off as will Un-Do. I have limited space so I store extra seasonings behind the open ones. Like dried onions behind the onion powder since I use the powder more often. You could store the garlic scape powder behind your garlic salt/powder, chili flakes behind the chili powder, etc. you could also use baskets to corral like items and store them on the bottom shelf. Just some ideas I have used. Great job getting it all done. Cleaning the sticky off all those jars will wear you out.
Fantastic- the cabinet looks amazing! Here in NZ we have a product called 'De-solv-it,' which is made out of the oil from orange peels....it is AMAZING and not full of chemicals...we buy it at our hardware store...maybe keep an eye out for it😊.
At Walmart they have some stuff called Goo Gone, It smells like oranges and it's for getting off stickers and the residue that is left on after removing a label....
So smart saving glass. It's getting more and more expensive. I keep one little nail polish remover from the dollar store to take sticky stuff off it works so fast
❤You did an amazing job, Janice. Your Spice Cabinet looks so neat and organized. Wish I had some of your organizational skills. Keep up the good work! Vikki B. ❤🙏🏻
I love it! I save my jars too. I soak in really hot water and use a butter knife to scrape the goo off. The serrated edge is sharp but not dangerous. I like to use the bigger jars to repackage my opened powdered foods like pancake mix or cornmeal. Stay safe in tonights yucky weather coming :)
Thanks Kate! We keep watching the weather and they've now pushed it back to 8pm or so when I last looked. Springtime is my favorite season, but not when the weather gets awful! :)
I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel. I couldn't believe how many herbs and spices I have ! Thanks for the great video and ideas and inspiration, I'm going to have to up my game.
I use Goo Gone to remove labels and adhesive. Let it set on the adhesive and it typically takes very little elbow grease to acheive a "clean" jar. After using wash in hot soapy water as this product is oil based. I typically use on the stubborn adhesive, not necessarily for the labels and adhesive that comes off easily in hot soapy water.
