What A Day! Wheat Harvest in Montana Farm 2022
In today's video, we rode our combines 20 mph to the next winter wheat field we are harvesting. I love going fast! We have to go back to get the water truck and fuel truck. Dad has a moment of frustration or two!! Grandpa helped out today, and he is 95 years old. I just love talking to Grandpa! We had a great dinner delivered to the field from Lily Bean's Coffee Shop. The wheat yield is terrible and it is really discouraging for my family. All the field yields are the worst my Dad has ever seen. We saw a 7700 Combine, which Dad tells me we never owned but they were the coolest things since apple pie!!! We stopped early because we worked really late last night. I am very grateful to get some rest. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy my video!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am an 18-year-old 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

good that could go home earlier Kate. Getting enough sleep each is important. It is nice your dad has taught you many things concerning wheat and cutting it in combines. Someday you can teach your son or daughter the same, very important to keep the farm family tree going, especially well instructed for good farming. Just for reference, a good Winter Wheat yield in Ireland would be 4 tonnes per acre which is 147 bushels per acre. But then we get a lot lot more precipitation. 💭💭

I think 47- 50 is about average. Could be mistaken.

WOW! A good year for us is 70+ bushels per acre and now we are at about 8 bushels per acre. We only get about 10-12 inches of precipitation annually though! Thank you for your great story and wonderful kindness Mr. Walsh!!!!

With respect to Ireland, according to the Irish Agriculture & Food Development Authority (Teagasc), the average national yield of Winter Wheat in the five years 2014 to 2018 was 9.962 tonnes per hectare = 4.035 tonnes per acre = 148.248 bushels per acre.

Спасибо за полезную информацию, рад, что у вас хороший урожай. Да, урожаи у нас ужасные, но цены около 10 долларов за бушель. Проблема в том, что топливо, семена и удобрения стоят невероятно дорого, поэтому мы действительно теряем деньги в этот урожай.

Hey Kate, your dad's a little too focused on his dinner that he did not seem to hear you. Your grampa is a very sweet guy. Your grandpa seems uppity up but your dad seems very serious. You are the mixture of both You are jovial and sweet and the same time all seriousness in your work. Just a safety note you should use your seatbelt in road gear, there was a video on here of a farmer who hit a bump and his pickup came unhooked and he drove over it. He was thrown thru the windshield fortunately he lived albeit battered and bruised, please be safe!

the first time i loaded a semi with a grain cart i filled it up full.i had to pull the truck out of the field with a tractor. he was 40000 lbs over weight. i didnt no any better.the driver said the elevator was not happy. nice video kate.

This was so cool to watch. The first person view out the front of combine put us right into the chair 100% There's something about this life, it reminds me of surfing at the beach, most directly. A strange type of serenity; where the rest of the world's craziness no longer matters. As if to be one with the earth for a brief time, all you can do is smile as the sun sets and the wind breathes. But it's so fascinating to see how MUCH coordination is going on there. We all drive by on the highway and see the machines running, but it's the furthest thing from simple.

What a rarity! I am trying to teach my teen son all the old school things. I grew up on a farm and I miss it so! I somehow stumbled upon your site and WOW! You are learning to fly, drive rigs, alllll the equipment, and maybe most important...how to troubleshoot when 💩happens... whether it is your own mistake or not. Kudos to you AND your Dad! Thank you for the inspiration to get back at doing more "extreme" things with my son to learn REAL life! 😉

I agree with @ Lilo below!! Dad is super safety conscious and we can never be too safe. Accidents are not acceptable at all here. I love my Dad and I am very grateful for him.

Thank you for your wonderful kindness! During harvest we don't really want rain but it is so dry here it doesn't take long for the moisture levels to get back below 12% to harvest. We really need rain for planting.

@@KatesAg 12% soil moisture during harvest, that's a luxury for the majority of West Australian wheat producers, though the past decade has been extremely kind for them..! Best of luck for you all..!
