The last scene, Man. That's the magic of cinema, visually captivating, Mads Mikkelsen dancing away in his own without any dialogues or speeches, but still the emotions it stirs up inside the viewers. The feeling of ultimate celebration in the end.

I couldn't agree more. Mikkelsen was brilliant in Another Round. They chose Gary Oldman over him (no offense to Oldman, he was also brilliant in Mank but Mads Mikkelsen was better) which is unfortunate! And also it was truly deserving of getting an Original Screenplay nomination. I think this year Bafta did a better job at nominations than Oscars.

Oscars are politicised long way down the history. 90s were the last decade when they were fair . Now it's all about LGBTQ or another kinda message.. They gave Oscar to Sean Penn for milk over Mickey Rourke in the wrestler ( the performance of decade along with Daniel day Lewis in there will be blood ).

The last scene where the movie ends while mad was jumping into the water was cut at the middle of it just to notify he was actually flying not falling. And that’s beauty of the ending. He embraced the life. And for god sake I don’t want Leonardo decaprio come out of nowhere and ruins this art for no fucking reason at all.

I've seen recent interview of director and mads in OSCAR channel they said it is open ending and audience can imagine their own ending meanwhile mads assumes he was flying.

@@thilakthaalai6676 well it was open for audience to interpret according to their understanding, and as an optimistic I thought it was mostly a positive ending, considering there was clearly happiness returning to his life. And the song also says a lot of thing about the scene. Listen to it carefully

Came back to this song after a year, to praise the filmmaker. Thomas Vinterberg, what a legend. The Hunt, this one, The Commune all masterpieces. Another gem is Anders Thomas Jensen. Both of them are my fav when it comes to filmmaking.

The director's daughter died in a car accident 4 days into filming this movie (she was originally supposed to play Mad's daughter); so they changed the story to be about celebrating life. Everytime I see that final shot of him diving in the air, I only see an angel taking flight. Great movie. Beautiful movie.

So. YES, it did. Another Round IS nominated in TWO Oscar categories - BEST FOREIGN FILM and BEST DIRECTOR to Thomas Vinterberg. It's true Herre Mikkelsen won Best Actor European Film Awards for this movie but was not nominated for Best Actor in the Oscars. But just wait a little, he's gaining momentum like a steam train. After he does Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3-5 (#3 just wrapped filming this past weekend) he'll start being cast more in Non-Villain roles in the U.S. and he's so exceptional that will garner him a turn in films more like Another Round and he'll win the Oscar for one of those. Meantime, I expect Another Round will win both of its nomination categories, or at the very least Best Director to Vinterberg.

I certainly believe Another Round deserves a nomination atleast in the overall Best Picture category. Nomad land is possibly going to sweep the awards this time but I'm pretty sure all middle aged men (myself included) would love Another round in there

Great edit. I especially enjoyed having sound from the film as an underscore - especially since the movie itself seems to be an accurate underscore of celebrating life; so the song, having to do with joy in life, is the main character and the film clips the supporting actor. Your cut is bold, brave, and works perfectly! Great job!

Adding the chorus at the end of the song was a good idea, I think it should have been looped once more. The original song is good but sounds flatter without the chorus.

@@DarrenBates Tommy is the one who says "it's always been Martin and Anika". And when they text each other at the ending, they talk about Tommy. How he wanted the best for them both. It's subtle, but I think it's there.

@@kaanilbas3012 yes but I don't think it's him. He's so loyal to Martin for one, but also he was a complete mess around the time that Anika admitted her infidelity. Also, it would be very hard for Anika to have an affair with someone who would've been awake at her time, and I always imagined that the other man is a work colleague of Anika's.
