the vhs simulation look is so artificial and looks terrible, it looks like an obvious digital recording with a filter / overlay on it. when it comes to this look i definitely thing the real thing is king
@@daskrunkly3213thanks for doing this for me, i was just about to say how fake the "simulation" is. Besides, there's nothing like the system of actually sitting down, powering on all your boxes and boards and doing a good old fashioned tape-based editing session.
@@KylerSteeleI also have a very old camcorder but it uses mini dv instead of vhs, it’s panasonic nv-mx3. This camcorder is very rare and information are hard to find online. It has 100x zoom but in a much smaller body
Phone’s camera I’m pretty sure have low sensors I think it’s called so so like it might look good and record good but when it comes to zooming in and out a regular iPhone or some phones will struggle compared to a camera
Growing up vhs was the regular camera everyone had , the night vision was extra awesome because everyone looked like vampires due to the eyes retina really standing out no matter the color .
@@stacy3it’s not the TRV87, if it were then it would use videoHi8 XR and have Sony’s LaserLink technology and 360x Digital Zoom. This one is just Video8 and isn’t capable of LaserLink
Yo I think I own the same one (TRV37 right?) and I’m using it to shoot a movie (Found footage horror), this camera looks scary asf under the right setting lol
Can you tell the setting you are using? Im planning to buy a sony aswell and one of its purposes is going to be this so I'd be helpful to know what works
Spotlight mode (That's what I use) is the best mode and it's on every HI8 camera, I just upgraded to a Sony TRV72 with true wide screen and it's 50x better. In order to get that found footage look you have to shoot on spotlight mode (The first setting in program mode, it lets your camera have 1/50 shutter). Also record to an external recorder and pull down the frame rate to 23.9, I use an atomos assassin for this with a HDMI converter. And here's a tip, lock the exposure and turn it down a bit so you get a more shadowy/creepy look, trust me, it looks scary as hell.@@matejkufa8652
@@KylerSteele regular vhs tapes are really big and the camera are to, this is probably vhs-c (compact vhs) it’s hi8 with a more professional name EDit- hi8 / video 8 is a completely different format from vhs-c
